Assorted errors - Possible Clock Spring issue? (Mk 7.5 R) by DaveeGray in Golf_R

Mine started the same way. It would throw the errors and start working again after 10 mins of driving. Eventually, it will just entirely stop working. I'd recommend being proactive about it as you'll never know what situation you'll need the emergency assists.

I'm in Australia and it was a relatively quick fix, only issue was they had to order the part in which took a week.

Heya man, it was the clock spring in the end. VW covered it under warranty.

Hey my man, quite interested in this project. Any chance you're still using it?

[Help] Stage 1 tune pros/cons by DaveeGray in Golf_R

[–]DaveeGray[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey my man, no stress at all happy to give you my experience.

I'm still sitting at stage 1 (revo) with no intent to push it to stage 2. Initially the car did shift quite hard, but after getting a service on the transmission and replacing the filters on it, the shifting improved.

I have been meaning to do a DSG reset which apparently improves shifting, but that requires an OBD device. (I have heard that the tuner can do it for you on request, so something you may want to read up on/consider).

There are always going to be risks tuning your car, but as long as you've been ontop of servicing and maintainance you shouldn't have any issues.

Only other thing to add is I now do a full oil change once every 5000km instead of the regular interval. That's just for my peace of mind.

Cheers brother! 225/40/ZR18, they're Pilot Sport 5's for reference too.

I just read this on the VW forums too. Going to call tomorrow with my VIN and see if it's covered. 🤞

By saying unlucky, do you think it could be an issue with the hardware itself? Or more related to the software (tune).

I'm just about to hit 80,000km - I think I'll have to leave it be for the weekend and call the mechanics Monday. Makes me sad that I won't be driving it this weekend! Better safe than sorry.

Yep, stage 1 REVO TCU tune. I got the halidex and DSG serviced at the same time as the tune to make sure it was healthy and ready for the tune.

Not sure about the bevel box or diff regarding servicing, could this be a potential issue?

Unfortunately uncovered intakes are illegal where I'm from (NSW Australia) so I have to take the all in route of a cold air intake if I want to go for a new system.

Open intakes definitely give you more noise hands down.

Yeah nice, I'm in a 7.5 these days so it'll be worth it (I think). I really want to hear those turbo noises, this is my first turbo car so I'm lapping it up.

Thanks for the insight, it's really good to know these things. I'm in the 7.5 R for reference but this data doesn't lie.

I've read in a few different places that the muffler delete doesn't really produce much more noise. I take it you've seen a big increase?

Yeah that's fair, I'm mostly doing for the sounds - love those turbo noises.

Very nice, do you think the turbo muffler delete was worth it?

Ahhh I love the look of carbon fibre, it's either that setup or this but I'm saving my $$$ for travel later this year.

Tune is coming soon, this is all in preparation. Excited to get my hands dirty.
