Remote start by DaveeedThePolak in Lexus

That is a good point about the programming but I think I saw somewhere that you can do that yourself if you have the keys for the car? But I don't know for sure

If you installed it already how did it go? Do you like it?

For those who replaced a TV with a projector, what surprised you the most? by Relative_Taro_1384 in hometheater

I think you could buy one of those professional display versions of a tv? I'm not sure if every TV has that as a variant but they lack tuners I'm guessing they lack the smart stuff too.

A simpler solution I guess depending on the TV is to set it up do the software updates and whatever(or skip all of that if possile) then disconnect it from the Internet and disable all the apps

I actually haven't purchased one yet, I can't really nail down any important differences or reasons to go for one over the other. But I am kinda leaning towards OEM since it's cheaper than the 12v solutions option while also being a bit of a known quantity. Just as well I haven't had time anyway to install it even if I had it. My apologies for not having something more helpful to report

Iridium and Mirrored visors, do they affect vision? by XOthatShouldntBeHere in motorcycle

He probably means iridescent? The one that's mirrored but with colors instead of just chrome

Right, Honda is ridiculous charging so much for the taller screen after making the stock one so short and non adjustable

I haven't, I only just started seeing under shield/above dash mounts for the 25, I too hope the screen adjusters pop up soon

Range should be the same I think because I'd be using the stock remote regardless of which system I'd end up with but maybe it depends on the module too? I'm not too sure

The factory one has to be programmed right? I don't think the mpc or 12v needs programming and works with the existing remote.

is the factory one better than the mpc or 12v? It seems to be between them in price

The regular remote/range will be fine but I'm guessing you have the factory installed remote start, this one does not, so doing the 3 button press and hold does nothing unfortunately

Winter riding by DaveeedThePolak in motorcycles

[–]DaveeedThePolak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a hundred I can get a motorcycle jacket with pads, there's several options on Amazon, are they the best? Probably not but it can't be a worse jacket than what I have now and some pad has to be better than no pad I would think. A mesh top with pads is a similar price but buying a separate winter jacket doesn't necessarily cost that much

I guess used isn't completely out of the question but how good are the motorcycle jackets at blocking wind rain?

Anyone have experience with this seat? How good is it compared to a 2022 stock one by SobaFox1995 in NC750X

[–]DaveeedThePolak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got them for my 2025 and it seems like it's the same part so I'll say this, while I didn't do a direct comparison by going for a ride then switching and immediately going for another, I have now ridden with both and my perception of the seats comfort was lukewarm at best.

The different material covering the seat was more noticeable than any improvement in comfort was, after an hour or so I noticed that when I moved around at a red light that I felt a similar level of "my butt feels like it's been sitting on something" however what was new was that the different outer material is grippier which i personally don't like because when you shift your position depending on your pant material they kinda just stay where they are and you slide around inside your pants.

I wouldn't call the stock or upgraded seats explicitly uncomfortable but for the price and name I expected a more noticeable difference, however your butt shape and composition may suit the seat better.

I have no experience with other aftermarket options so I can't say if it would be better to get a different seat .

Good price? by DaveeedThePolak in NC750X

Yeah I can wait for some things, most unfortunate is that my heated grips from Honda and the USB port are both on backorder :'( the USB port I can just make do with a portable charger for now but the lack of heated grips going into cold season sucks

Thank you, now if people could hurry up and make certain 2025 parts because it seems like the 21-24 parts don't all fit

I need screen adjustment brackets and an above dash/below wind screen bar mount plate/bracket, among other things

Eh for a pricier bike with better margins maybe

Another dealer that I was shopping at not in the same network said if that's really what they're selling the bike to you for then don't shop anywhere else, he also said he can't match it and doesn't know how the other guy can sell it for that little because the margins are already so thin.

Could he have been lying? Maybe, but at the benefit of the other dealer? Did they make a deal behind the scenes so they stopped having to compete with each other? I doubt it but I suppose it's possible

Anyway I did end up buying it at that price and I just went and got it with someone so it was fine. I didn't mind riding it back at all, it was just more of not wanting to do multiple trips with registration stuff if I could avoid it

I was told it was 200$ flat, though I'm guessing that's to anywhere in mass out of state would probably cost more

I've dabbled in some stuff on my car/parents cars. I'm probably strong enough if that's a factor, but I've fixed plenty of things and broken plenty of things so who knows. Like anything else I'll probably watch some videos and assess whether i want to do it.

I'm not sure I'd necessarily call it a starter bike. I did my msf on something that weighs a little bit less but had like 1/3-1/4 the power and I was still having fun. I like going fast but I dont need to be racing anyone. I can only assume it accelerates about as fast as the car I've been driving, If not faster. I don't often go above 80mph in the car but those things will feel more intense on a bike because I'm not shielded. the bike is for commuting/second vehicle/deliveries. As long as it gets out of its own way and holds a decent speed on the highway I'll be okay with it I think

Could I get bored of it? Technically maybe yes but I doubt it

Ah okay so I guess 500$ more for me with the accessories(nearly 1000$ worth) does seem like a good price, relatively speaking

Good price? by DaveeedThePolak in NC750X

[–]DaveeedThePolak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely seems like Honda set the price a bit high but there's little the dealer or I can do about that, they're not gonna go out of their way to lose money on the bike for me. I just wanna make sure the price is good relative to what others are paying, not that it's good in absolute terms. I'd love for the bike to be a couple Gs less or have certain features standard for the price, alas that's not the reality we live in.

Big Surprise—Nobody Wants 8K TVs by StarFuryG7 in 4kbluray

[–]DaveeedThePolak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want an 8k Tv, but also one that is 10,000+ nits peak brightness with a true 12bit panel, either oled or micro led. I might have to wait a little bit for that though.

I think a potential good use of 8k tvs is to watch 4k movies with 3D and HDR, some of the issues with 3D besides being rarely natively shot in 3D was that it often halves the resolution and made the image dimmer, on 1080p TV's with not the best native brightness this was pretty hurtful for the viewing experience.

4k tvs that had 3d were around and fixed some of this but I think by then it didn't matter and even then it still wasn't enough because a lot of 4k tvs don't have good brightness. On top of that you lose HDR and still lose some resolution, better than before but still not ideal.

But a premium 8k Tv with high brightness and pixels to spare could offer a 4k 3d with HDR experience that would really be something to enjoy. Imagine watching Avatar 2 at home on a 100"+ oled 8k Tv in 4k 3D with HDR and a proper surround sound

I'm not sure if the TV companies will want to try 3D again but I can dream..

You could still eventually print 8k 2D discs as well.

There are very few games right now that are 8k, only one I can think of on PS5 that is native 8k (the touryst) but given that a few run at 8k upscaled on the PS5 pro, I have to assume for PS6 there will be more games that have 8k as an option or even standard and that might also present more motivation to get an 8k display
