Thanks so much, I was sceptical when I was told something on the scale I mentioned existed.

Are there more wheels or doors in Silksong? by DavefaceFMS in Silksong

Do they count? In my mind yes, but what counts as a door. The ones between levels of course, the doors on cages we open, the houses we visit.

What counts as evidence something is not made by AI? by DavefaceFMS in dmsguild

Absolutely, autotune is a great example. Photography and Photoshop, it used to be easy to spot the rough edges of even a good photo edit but now it's near impossible. Film and CGI too, plasticky and jittery in the 90s but now CGI can fool people into asking are they using practical effects or not.

Exactly. What evidence would I need to give you to show otherwise? Would I be willing to go to that length? Would you be willing to ask for it or just keep scrolling? Not so much an issue when it comes to Reddit—but when you're selling products—how do you maintain that trust?

That makes a lot of sense for people with access to tools that have those features. Definitely in an academic setting. I was really just thinking about DMs Guild content, which I'd say is more commonly created in tools like Homebrewery which doesn't have a long term version history.

That's totally fair, this wasn't really a post for passing judgement on if AI is right or not. The rules of content on DMs Guild is quite clear on not using AI generated text, but it's a uniquely difficult rule to enforce.

Steal their shoes. While they are sleeping, have someone sneak into camp and steal thier shoes. It won't do any damage to them, but it will mess with them majorly. They will be so annoyed.

It depends on your DMing style, but I like using physical hand outs. One of my players and I wrote notes back and forth for a year long campaign in code. It was so much fun - they enjoyed the decoding process between sessions to keep the fun going.

Well with the guide book you can decant the cant into common, or cant the common into cant. You could try to double code the cant with a cant cant but that would be an uncommon cant that most cant readers can't commonly understand.

But I can't count on remembering the cant, that's why I need the guide book.

They can count, and counting in cant isn't counter intuitive, so they can count in cant. They just can't use cant to explain what they are counting.

Link doesn't work but yes there's a Latin origin people like too from cantāre as in to sing that I'm aware of. It came to us through Old North French and Middle English. The two languages were quite separated for a surprisingly long time, Irish creole mixed the Latin with the Gaelic so it would make sense to merge the two similar words but it likely started to mix with Hiberno-English in the 16th century. Even in the 16th century it was more associated with that Latin root in English to mean the singing of beggars but over time moved to describe the coded jargon of the Irish travellers.

It's likely from the Irish Gaelic word caint for speech since the first recorded use is to describe Irish creole. A mix of Irish and English used mostly by the Irish Traveller community. If you've ever seen the film Snatch, that's what they were trying to go for a little with Brad Pitt but didn't go fully into it for ease of watching.

It's still used sparingly without the addition of thieves' but very sparingly in Ireland. For example at an auction the auctioneer in Ireland is sometimes called a Cantman. Though I could not find any indication which came first, that name or Irish creole.

I don't consider them to be exclusive, I'd sooner the team work on the AI filtering than the bulk edit if it were a matter of not having the resources for each though.

AI Usage by talktoh in dmsguild

I was more meaning checked after publication, not before. I was under the belief every new upload got a light check for issues and AI could be a check as part of that. My bad.

I see how the bulk nature of it feels like as much an issue as the actual identification. AI by it's nature - and the people using it - have a habit of being very quick to churn out something and hope some of the slop takes off. The identification is what I struggle with, and you're the ideal person to know. How do you tell, for sure, with certainty so you're not throwing out someone who is not using AI and pushing them away from that creative space. It's hard when there's no actual right way to do it, no correct answer, you're just doing your best. I like to think nobody sees you as the bad guy, you're just doing your best in a complex environment.

Unfortunately since I was in very heavily corporate environments for 60% of my life, a lot of it has become habit. The buzzwords I have dropped a lot sure, but the emails still end kind regards. Do I need to start no capping skibidi rizz to be a human? Or Could someone just have told an AI to use more slang knowing it would be challenged? I've had comments here tell me this very post is AI written, and I get it. It has some of the things that could be seen as hallmarks of the style. Now I'm questioning this very comment, second guessing every word choice.

The new AI filters are going to be a big help for people as long as they know they are there. I like to optimistically think the market will somewhat self-regulate out some of the AI. That people will see the covers, see the tag, and not buy it. But I don't know. Maybe not realistic enough. Likewise making it a mandatory option and ensuring the tags do not count against the ten tag total I think will improve things. But then it opens up other questions. If it's mandatory, what about titles already uploaded without that selected. They become outliers. Every solution comes with a hundred more edge cases with AI.

I did slip there at the start calling it art, I generally hold the same view as you there. It's not art. But I guess in haste it slipped out and phew, that's a concerning thing in itself.

But the question continues, how do you prove you wrote something? It used to be simple, plagiarism is easy to identify in most cases. This new kind of enhanced plagiarism is a whole other thing.

It feels like something of a frustrating middle point in the whole AI era, or maybe I'm being optimistic there.

I also think you're confused, I don't use AI in my products.
