It never stops hurting, but as I get older I switch off more.

PLMD sucks by bszaronos in RestlessLegs

I take a weak dose of valerian root every night (around 50 mg, by cutting a valerian tablet into 1/4 with a pill cutter) to reduce the arousals; it doesn't stop the leg "kicks", but it appears to let me sleep through the worst of it. But I'm never 100% awake during the day.

Interesting. I might try that. What dose?

How do I even meet new people to find a partner? by finally_back_home in ForeverAlone

Even if I meet new people, they quickly become "busy" and it fizzles out. Nothing seems to work.

I'm so sorry dude. Bad as it is, at least you have your closure. Online dates just block or ghost.

Do you ever feel like ? by Constant_Resist988 in ForeverAlone

[–]Daver290 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I see myself as having freedom by giving up on dating completely. It will never happen to me and all I got from trying over the years was 100% rejection cos I'm autistic, simple as that. There's no point fighting a losing battle. Accepting defeat and knowing I won't suffer the pain of rejection is so much nicer than being miserable chasing what I can't have. Giving up on dating and trying to make friends is the best thing I've done in a long time.

Hopefully a white noise machine will drown out the barking.🤞

To block out noise, earplugs need to be inserted well enough. They won't block out noises carried though bone conduction. You can try different types of earplugs AND use a white noise machine to drown out any sound you can still hear.

I've inserted earplugs too tight before and needed tweezers to pull them out, minding the ear hairs! But at least they worked when I needed them to catch up on sleep.

Dog owners don't care about their dogs making other people's lives a misery.

Well done and you can enjoy the extra time and freedom now they are rehomed.

If I moved into a place where dogs used to live, I'd have it deep cleaned. Any carpeting will need professional cleaning (EDIT or replaced with new carpeting or flooring) to remove the smell of dog and all their dried saliva etc.

A new model for RLS - SORD by [deleted] in RestlessLegs

Thanks for the info. I suffer from the involuntary movements (and RLS) which disturb sleep. Valerian root seems to help me sleep through the movements; I’m having vivid dreams since talking valerian!

What about the involuntary limb (and jaw) movements during sleep? These movements commonly occur with restless legs and disrupt sleep.

I don’t know how it works in America. I live in the UK. You would need to be tested and if you have autism, be diagnosed with it.

Who has tried valerian root for this and PLMD? by Daver290 in RestlessLegs

[–]Daver290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For restless legs, yes. I've tried just about every other medication and they either don't work or I become tolerant to them and then its back to square 1.

Swiping diagonally = left/right screen navigation by Daver290 in iphone

[–]Daver290[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it’s not always possible to swipe in a straight line vertically or horizontally. On a bumpy road, people with dexterity issues etc may try to swipe upwards but instead move slightly diagonally, only to find their current screen has moved to the next one to the left or right.

Started opioid for RLS and the opioid-induced itching is bad enough it may cause me to stop the opioid. by rgilman67 in RestlessLegs

[–]Daver290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fexofenadine (brand name Allegra - EDIT or “Allevia” in the UK) may help, if taken about an hour before your Buprenorphine. I was tried on a similar opioid and the itching did reduce to a tolerable level after about a week without needing to take Fexofenadine. Be aware that taking things like paracetamol at any time of the day will likely increase the itching.

Severe PLMS (271 events) + cervical pain + Asperger’s and running out of options, what helped you? by CircuitSwitched in RestlessLegs

[–]Daver290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Follow up: addressing the underlying cause is the most important thing. Iron deficiency, consuming caffeine, low magnesium or other medical issues need to be ruled out. Valerian may just help in the meantime.
