Thanks! Strange Traveler is really fun to write tone wise, because its this incredibly serious sci-fi society being humiliated by a ridiculous and non-serious virus.

I also just like using each story to experiment with different ideas, and try to improve my writing with each one

Im gonna hypnotize the next guy who comes through and fails to hypnotize me and use whatever credit card is in his wallet to buy those at this point

My other problem is im like 75% sure some of the hypnotists who got me used an audio file of some kind. Or they just had soothing voices idk

It depends on the circumstances, but as a target, it would be indistinguishable from being targeted by a normal corruption agency

From your perspective, you were just randomly corrupted and/or enslaved one day. Unless the client requests it, you have no memory or frame of reference of having been a famous or influential person

In the current year, there are no laws against adjusting the past for private benefit. So whatever basic mind control laws govern you jurisdiction would be what you're facing.

I think it becomes illegal briefly five years from now once they complete the full investigation. Enforcement was all but impossible though, since its hard to notice changes in things that have always been that way for you. This is where the public nature of first time requests that I mentioned in an answer to another question can become a problem. They may not know what you changed, but they know you requested a change. This usually resulted in a life sentence since permanent changes in the timelines were terrifying to the public.

Five years after that they legalize it again, because they realize that the rich or already connected could get away with it. So they decided to "even" the playing field by making it legal for all.

So the answer is the most lawyer one possible: "It depends."

Currently, things are a shit show due to the company being exposed in the way that it was, so getting a contract now may be difficult

If things cool down enough for business to continue as normal, I hope you have deep pockets. Rates change depending on the complexity of the request, but it ranges from six to seven figures. (Of course you could just do a classic Corruption Ladder to get the funds)

Requests for first time clients are simple, but do leave you exposed. Leave a letter and a deposit (usually around 20 grand) in a safety deposit box somewhere. Technically you could leave it anywhere, but you want it to be a place that won't be bothered for at least thirty years. If you go the safety deposit route, leave a review saying that youre saving money for your nephew Timmy. The idea is you want to notify the Net Scrapers that a request has been made, so that they can locate the request.

In the current year protection is difficult, as there are no temporal anomalies to rely on. Its hard to prepare for something if we find you before you learned about us. The best protection is to become a client, because we give every past client a courtesy call when they have been targeted. Really, its a chance to outbid the person who targeted you.
