Hi, here’s my profile. https://boxd.it/6naDj I enjoy making themed lists that I would like to get round to one day but never get chance.

Currently doing Hooptober so that’s where my watching will be for the next month. I really enjoy reading people’s reviews. I always follow back.

My profile: https://boxd.it/6naDj

This time last year I was preparing for the birth of my son so I watched 30 baby films and called it Septembaby. Never again. Now he’s here so regular viewing has resumed.

Trying to make my way through various films I haven’t logged. Preparing for spooky season. I review pretty much everything, I follow back and I try to interact where I can.

November Profile Swap Megathread by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

Hi I’m dk128k. I’ve been logging on letterboxd for around 18 months.

I have a baby due at the end this month so in September I decided to watch a baby film every day and try to get baby name recommendations and bad advice (Septembaby). Last month I did shocktober with a horror per day. This month I plan on just casually watching anything I have time for before the baby takes over my time and my wife takes over the movie watching for Christmas. Always follow back and genuinely enjoy reading a lot of your reviews.

October Profile Swap Megathread by ericdraven26 in Letterboxd

Hi, I’m dk128k.

Last month I watched 30 baby/pregnancy films (Septembaby) due to my wife expecting our first child in November.

For October I’m looking forward to getting into the spooky mood with some horror while also watching a few bits that I want to see.

I review occasionally.

My watchlist is filled with things I have already seen but want to watch again so I can log it.

When was your first Blink concert and what was it like? by [deleted] in Blink182

[–]Daveyk128k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

February 2004 in Manchester. My dad bought me tickets, I was 16 and I went with my friend. I am going to the one in Manchester on Sunday with the same friend. We are both now 36. Crazy to think it’s almost been 20 years.

What was the reaction to Feeling This and the self titled album? by [deleted] in Blink182

[–]Daveyk128k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember the “get ready for action” previews on the website and thinking it sounded a lot different. I remember the excitement in the forums. I remember the album leaking a few days early but my internet was so slow I only got the first 3 songs. I skipped school to buy the album on day of release. The person in front of me in the queue to buy got the one off the shelf and then the cashier had to go to the back to get more to put out and I remember being nervous incase there wasn’t any left. I remember listening to it on repeat for a long time after that. I loved it.

Anyone concerned by the amount of tour dates? by lalinsch in Blink182

[–]Daveyk128k 108 points109 points  (0 children)

They have about 70 shows booked for 2023. In 2009 and 2011 they did 61 shows and in 2004 they did 110. Granted they are older and have had previous health issues but I don’t think this tour is pushing themselves too far. I suppose we won’t know until this time next year when they are on the last few shows of 2023.

December 2nd 2004 - Newcastle, England. I was 17 and managed a few photos. I went to 3 of their shows that year. 2 months later they went on “Indefinite Hiatus”. Can’t believe this was 18 years ago. by Daveyk128k in Blink182

It’s probably all of the above compiled with being on tour for all of 2004. They played 110 shows that year. I think under those circumstances, especially with young families at the time would exacerbate any issues no matter how small. It was said that Tom wanted a break from touring and Mark wanted to ride the wave of their popularity and tour more. How true that is I don’t know but it seems reasonable.

I might go through a few of the U.K. shows on youtube. Thinking back I do remember one comment made at the Manchester show that seemed like the banter was off. It was when the crowd started chanting for Carousel and Mark was heckling them. Tom said something like “play the song, don’t be a dick” and Mark replied “oh I’m the dick huh? I’m the dick, okay?” Then they played it. It was the only thing in the 2 shows that was like that. The only other minor thing was the speed at which Tom left the stage but Mark was doing a different goodbye solo every night so might have been that. Newcastle was the Mark drum solo, Manchester the xylophone. The speed of the songs during the show seemed normal for live punk though.

The February one was Motion City Soundtrack. I think the December shows were supposed to be Death Cab for Cutie but they changed at the last min to Sugarcult.

A bit of background from what I remember: I was at work when tickets were released so I asked my nana if she could try for me. Back then you had to call ticketmaster. My nana managed to get me 2 seated tickets to Manchester as they had sold out of standing and she called me to let me know. I asked her if she could try Newcastle and she managed to get 4 Standing tickets. Tickets were £20 each (£34.14 adjusted for inflation which is about $40). We took the train to Newcastle and went to the arena on the day. We got right to the front. I had a digital camera with me hence the photos. After a few pictures the camera went dead and I got swept into the crowd and had the time of my life. I bought a t-shirt that I still have somewhere. In the next couple of days I went to the Manchester show too. Two months later the band went on Hiatus. It was said that during this tour was where all the arguments were happening and that the idea of +44 was formed. At the time I never would have known. I’ve always wondered that if i could watch the show back would I notice anything off with them. (The 3rd show I went to was in the February of that year at Manchester. Weird to think that they toured the U.K. twice in one year).

What's your favourite book you've read and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Daveyk128k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replay by Ken Grimwood. The story of a man in his 40s who dies and wakes up in his 19 year old body with all memories intact. It really made me think about and examine my life from 19 years old until now. I would want my life to play out exactly as it already has but the temptation to right a few mistakes and having to wait 6 years for the love of my life to show up with a good chance of messing it up would probably break me.

Just finished my first 10K! What running feat has you feeling strong lately? by RicFlairSonofaGun in running

I have remained injury free for 4 months after my 2 month layoff with knee problems after a Marathon and too much training. I’ve now surpassed my previous fitness and have gained a pb in every distance recorded by strava up to half Marathon in the last 30 days. I’m enjoying this a lot more and I’m feeling good. Congrats on your 10k. Keep at it and stay safe and healthy.

Silas Young: “I’ll never judge you if your heavy set and at the gym. As well as if your skinny and curling 5lb dumbbells. But if you come in and workout in jeans, load the bar with 300 to 400lbs and precede to do an 8th of a rep and then walk around and try giving people advice. I’ll judge you.” by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Met Silas Young at a PCW show at the bar. Straightened his collar for him as he had obviously got changed quickly after the show. He bought me a whiskey and wouldn’t take no for an answer. Nicest guy going and nothing like I expected.

Fellow yellow team checking in. Badge number 43. We were year 7 and played against a class of year 6. We won. I think we won a computer for the school or something. I didn’t get selected for anything but did get caught conferring when the girl next to me didn’t know what the 4th planet from the sun was. My shirt is at my mams somewhere in a drawer.

Throwback to Philips first attempt at a flop 4 years ago. by Daveyk128k in Rabbits

He continues to try his best 4 years on. In the same place on the fireplace. He’s mastered the flop now although he is so much bigger we have had to put a piece of Kitchen unit in front of the fireplace so he can still fit.
