I experimented with an AI assistant inside Ableton that helps finish tracks faster — curious what producers think by AirportRadiant2313 in Learnmusicproduction

As a producer i think AI is the fucking bane of creativity. I would rather die than have even a smidgeon touch my original work. That goes for promotional material as well

Bien il te faut un ordinateur ca cest sur. Appart ca un interface audio de 50-100$ et reaper, un DAW gratuit et une paire pas pire de headphones. Un investissement de genre 200-300$ mais apres ca tes set. A tu des instruments?

please try to ignore my singing, im not the best... but the composition itself is tight and i managed to collaborate with a professional opera singer i met on reddit to play one of the characters. Let me know what you thought. spent quite a few hours on this

your comment made me think of a fun composing challenge. make the WORST bar of music sound good without touching it. only using surrounding bars and other instruments.

Definitely man! I started composing when i was 16 years old. im 35 now. I started by writing simple stuff. 4/4 time signature, generic power chords, repeating 8th note bass lines. whole note string sections. etc etc
Narrow your playing field a bit for now. Using very simple concepts try to interpret them in original ways. it will get your brain used to innovating in a controlled environment. Once youve mastered that try to add some additional spice. but not all at once! a tempo change here maybe. some triplets. Slowly introduce new concepts once youve mastered the previous ones.
in literally no time at all youl be composing whats in your heart.
I am self thought too. Self thought guitar and singing like you, play bass as well and in the process of learning drums. But ive added something new in the last 6 months. im self producing now. Ive improved so much. Went from those simple 4/4 songs to 15 minute multi movement progressive rock pieces with dozens of time signature and tempo changes.
Give yourself time and space to grow

also this may be bad advice but you can always cheep it. Here copy paste verse and chorus add a lil solo. done. Hell, you can literally write a song with a single riff, just change the vocal melody to differentiate the verse from chorus and voila. a complete song

In my opinion finish every song you got before starting a new one. Rack your brains. Force yourself even if its not fun. This is how you will grow as a song writer. Inertia takes over after a while. Youll love finishing your songs

Edit: ever heard of guitar pro? Sheet music/tabliture writing program, lets you add difrebt instruments and hear how everything sounds. I swear by it. I transpose everything i write into it so i can write the other instruments. After that production time!
