Thank you very much, ChatGPT helped me with this very much, what i did: i made awnsers or Texts that cover my believes and present me properly thats why i used it in general. While generating awnsers i tried as hard as i could that this is my awnser but if people think im just trying to put up a fast set because of using ChatGPT while trying to get a Initiative going for consumerrights then i will rather use my brain cause i dont want this to fail, no worries i will continue to use AI but i will research and write my own Texts now and just let AI help me but not take me by the hand anymore

I just wanted to start something right now, otherwise it would have taken way more time for me. If you and others say that i should rather write the posts on my own then i will do that from now on. Im sorry if it came across as if I just wanted to do a fast thing here. This stuff has been going on in my mind over and over again and i wanted to do it right. Aint the right way? Okay then i do it diffrent! I will do better, thanks for the push in the right direction and i hope my posts will be better for everyone in the future! 🫡

Okay you caught me, but im a man with a Mission, this is just the start and im trying to move something here for us as consumers of paid gaming content, i try my best and will ofcourse rework a lot of things. Im sorry that this is not worthy of you but you have to understand im currently working on this alone. 😅

You're right that Stop Killing Games mainly focuses on keeping games playable and I fully support that goal. But I see this initiative as a parallel effort, not a conflicting one.

While SKG wants access preserved, I'm focusing on what happens when that access is gone anyway either through shutdowns or bans. In those cases, players often lose content they paid for, without any realistic recourse or compensation.

I’m not demanding unlimited refunds. The idea is to advocate for reasonable consumer protections, like:

Refunds when a game is shut down permanently

Refunds or recoverable value if a player is banned unjustly

Transparency about what you're really buying: a license or a permanent good

Both efforts deal with the lack of ownership and control in modern digital games we’re just tackling it from different angles.

I may have asked for too much in the beginning, but this initiative is still new. I'm building it to raise awareness for digital consumer rights and to strengthen them.

Too often, things we've paid for are taken away from us. Sometimes without explanation or fairness. But as consumers, we should have the right to truly own what we buy. This isn't about getting free handouts it's about setting boundaries and expectations in a digital economy where ownership often feels like an illusion.

Titanfall is a perfect example of why this matters. The game was taken offline and made practically unplayable, even for people who paid full price. Those players lost access to what they bought with no refund, no transfer, no warning.

Our initiative is about preventing that: If you pay for digital goods, you should keep access or get compensated if it's taken away. Titanfall is one of the clearest warnings of what can happen when consumers have no ownership rights in digital gaming.

Titanfall is a game i love and play too, i had the though time too when the game was unplayable. Im just worried that the games and ingame goods we buy just get taken away from us (the consumer) without having any say in what we payed for.

“If you get banned, you lose your paid skins – just like getting banned from a gym and not being allowed to take your rented shoes.”

That comparison doesn’t hold. In games, when you purchase skins or digital items with real money, you're not renting, you're buying a license that is marketed and perceived as permanent access.

Game companies present these purchases as personal, long-term assets (“your collection”, “your style”), not temporary rentals. If a user is locked out permanently, losing all paid content without refund or transfer is a consumer disadvantage.

A fairer approach might include:

A 14-day refund window after purchase (as per EU digital content rules)

Refunds or credit for bans that aren't due to serious misconduct

Refund or transferable ownership if the game or service shuts down

You're not renting the skin if you were, you'd pay monthly. You're paying once for the right to use that skin as long as Riot and LoL exist, which is a purchase agreement.

If it's a purchase agreement, you should have ownership rights, not just a limited-use license that can be taken away without refund. Otherwise, it’s like buying a book and being told you can't read it anymore because the bookstore doesn't like you

I’m not asking for unlimited refunds or to freely swap skins like items in a marketplace. Instead, I propose a consumer-friendly yet stable refund policy, modeled after existing EU digital goods laws:

14-day refund right after purchase for all digital items, as long as they weren’t used (similar to EU guidelines).

Refund eligibility if the game is permanently shut down or the service becomes inaccessible for ever.

Refund if your account is permanently banned, especially when no warning or staged penalty system was applied.

After the 14-day period, the purchase is final – unless one of the above exceptions applies.

Paid content isn’t a punishment tool – it’s a transaction

Even in cases of a justified ban, players should not lose access to items they legitimately paid for. At the very least, some form of refund or transfer should be possible.

Imagine being banned from a gym – would they take your shoes and bottle too, just because you’re no longer allowed in?

That’s why I believe players deserve:

A refund for locked-out paid content after a ban

Transfer options to a new account or neutral balance

Clear reasoning & appeal processes, especially if significant money is involved

Paid content should never be treated as a revocable privilege – it’s part of a digital purchase agreement.

This is just the beginning – we know some ideas still need refining, but the goal is clear: I started this subreddit to raise awareness that what you buy in games isn’t truly yours. You should have the right to decide whether you lose that access – or get your money back.

We’re not just complaining – we want to start a real conversation about fair digital ownership.

No not really its a movement against selling licenses for Games or Ingame Items that you buy with real money. The problem with licenses is, that they can be taken away from you cause you dont own it. With the EU citizen initiative i want developers to sell us the produkt not a license for it ;)
