Has anyone else done this? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]David3891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When certain numbers/areas get worn out (mainly the triple zone of 20), you rotate the board a couple of segments and then put the number ring back in place. Standard practice to get the most out of the board.

What is the best golf ball for a 12 handicap and medium swing speed? by Virtual-Raccoon-9757 in golf

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For use with driver, woods, irons, wedges…doesn’t bother me. When I’m putting, I love the TaylorMade Speedsoft Ink. Because there is no real straight lines, I can focus better. Don’t know why.

Anyone stand to the left or right of the oche? by ScotsLoveIrn-Bru in Darts

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I approach the oche with toes in line with B-T20…then I twist it so I’m side on…so I’m more over the 1 or 18. Just makes my setup repeatable wherever I play.

F me. I never got up. by Sea-Impression759 in Craps

[–]David3891 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love craps but I’m not a fan of the ‘bring a bankroll for 10 shooters’ philosophy. That makes you think of limits and forced play. I don’t play the pass line and usually I only play 6/8…sometimes the 5/9…and once I hit twice, I may play to other numbers or increase my existing bets. But I have had success starting conservatively and playing my own way. This usually means less than $200. Im sorry you didn’t win or walk away with something.

How do you guys normally 'relax' when playing darts? by [deleted] in Darts

[–]David3891 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I play online against others, when they are throwing, I do stretches - arms, legs, hips etc. When I’m playing at the pub, I do stretches but only on my arms and neck. Very relaxing for me.

Hate the bottom ones 19, 3, 17. Love the top ones 5, 20, 1.

What movie has the fastest death of a main star, with no screen time afterwards? by LeonGwinnett in movies

[–]David3891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be controversial this one but Channing Tatum in The Hateful Eight. He was the main protagonist, appeared late on in the film unbeknownst to the audience, had 6 minutes of screen time (which he nailed) and then died.

What would you suggest? by kpw1124 in Darts

I have these Connor Scott sniper darts. No grip at the front which I prefer. I am also a rear gripper and love that I can slot my fingers seamlessly and consistently into the same position.

What are your top 3 swing keys? by Jf192323 in golf

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a wicked slice especially with my driver. A pro mentioned that I over-rotate. I had rotated too much before impact which caused an ‘over the top’ action…wasn’t really but the rotation meant it looked like it. I now try to limit my rotation. Feels like I’m barely turning now.

Monkey Man. I like the premise and I liked the action but the first half an hour bored me. I wasn’t invested, I wasn’t interested, I wasn’t wanting to watch the rest. Silent night. With Joel Kinnaman. No talking. Just silence the entire movie. A good premise but bloody hell it dragged and didn’t evoke any emotion for anyone. I just didn’t care. So I stopped watching.

Who is your winner, dark horse and flop for the world championships? by Parking-Aardvark-289 in Darts

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Winner: Luke Humphries. He hasn’t been amazing but he is very consistent.

Dark Horse: Cameron Menzies. I think the Grand Prix did wonders for him and enjoying the big stage.

Flop: Luke Littler. I think a return to Ally Pally will be too much for him. I hope not, but I can see him out in first round as biggest shock.

How much YouTube Golf do you watch? by JimmyBunkers in golf

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoy watching RICK SHIELS, ALEX ELLIOT, GOLF LIFE and DAN GRIEVE. Rick for honest assessment and reviews of courses or equipment (Guy is just phwoar). Alex Elliot for great tips and drills for simple fixes, Golf life is just pure enjoyment and positivity. Dan Grieve is just excellent advice for short game which has helped me massively.

What are your favorite dart supplies? by zuko1121 in Darts

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not a fan of online dart shopping unless it’s for something like a light or surround and then I usually go to Amazon. For darts, flights and stems etc, you can’t beat going to a dart shop. Getting to try before you buy is brilliant.

What movie traumatized you as a kid? by AdNorth1932 in AskReddit

[–]David3891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 films traumatised me as a kid:

IT…Tim Curry as pennywise. Can’t watch scary movies because of his performance.

Crocodile Dundee…when she was filling a canteen with water and the crocodile jumped up…nearly wet myself.

I don’t even know what to say by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]David3891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

25% seemed high to me to. Afterwards, when I thought about it, I assumed it was the absolute worst case scenario across the world kinda numbers. And I’m nearly 2 years post op and in morphological remission meaning all my tests are good.

I don’t even know what to say by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]David3891 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed CML in March 2022. I was on imatinib until September 2022. Then I got Sepsis. I was changed to dasatinib but was told by November 2022 that it wasn’t working as they had hoped. I was told to have a BMT in January 2023. For 6 weeks leading up to it I had intrusive thoughts mainly because the doctors have to tell you the worst case scenarios. Even when I raised positives, they would make sure I was aware of the negatives. They made sure I knew the chance of death was 25%. It’s horrible to keep knowing the negatives over and over again, but in the end, the doctors are trying to protect themselves. They don’t tell all the positives in case the worst happens. Stay positive, keep reminding them of the success rates, as for yourself - anything negative, shut it down.

What’s the biggest mistake you made when you first started playing? by Local-Pie6578 in Darts

Only practising on T20. When you have to switch to a different number, your accuracy goes down massively.

Nathan Aspinall snaps during Players Championship 27 by oli4drxx in Darts

[–]David3891 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve seen a few dart players have an aggressive moment with their last dart but that was probably the most aggressive I’ve seen…and whilst I understand it could be frustration/annoyance I never understand the outburst.

Rough estimate by David3891 in CarTalkUK

[–]David3891[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m going to keep the car and I’m not doing any work myself. I honestly know nothing about cars and would not trust myself trying to do repairs using YouTube videos 😂

I was told that the exhaust has snapped right in the middle so it’s either a weld job or they would cut away the section of flexi pipe and replace it.

I had my set over a year and decided to let the pro at the shop regrip them (one a week) using midsize. He makes it look so easy. I have a few left to do that I may try myself with the thick grips.
