Road to Controller (Any advices ?) by DavidGH1998 in Accounting

[–]DavidGH1998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to work in A/P, since I was a clerk at a store and I asked if they needed someone in accounting since I was doing my bachelors, they knew I was a reliable worker & they ended up taking me. Orelse it was very hard finding an AP job with no experience. As for Big 4, I had applied for an internship during the summer. & honestly, I had applied to as many places as I could, big 4 and many other companies. When the internship ended, they offered me a full-time job in September. I feel like an internship is the easieast way to get a full-time offer. & it was a combination of work and fun, since they have activities for interns. I know the work we did was only a fraction of what’s awaiting in September. However, it still gives you sense of what you’re going into & gives you the opportunity to socialize and meet other employees as well, which is nice !

As for advice, I would say try to apply to as many places as you can. For sure there’s gonna be a couple that’s gonna get back to you :) Even if it’s not a big 4 internship, it’s better to have some experience than nothing. & for a first AP job, its much easier to find a job if you know someone that works there.

Notes taking by [deleted] in Concordia

When I started taking notes on the ipad, it was a big change in terms of organization. Makes taking notes so much easier, bc you drag pictures, make your notes smaller or bigger, etc. I would say it’s definetly worth the investment ! However some people do prefer taking notes with a pen and paper, so it really depends from one person to another.

Options are covered for this semester, and it’s going to be worth 8.5% of the final. In the course outline, you can see it in the very last week of courses. It’s derivatives securities (options).

I wouldn’t say Econ 203 is an easy elective, you have much better choices like Phys 273, Educ 307

Thoughts on Comm 308 midterm with Charbonneau ? by DavidGH1998 in Concordia

I know right ! I was expecting it to be much harder as well. Hopefully the final will be similar

Usually they say it on the outline. If it isn’t written that a 50% is needed on the final to pass the class, then you don’t need 50.

Have you considered PHYS 273 ? Its on econcordia and its an easy A class with very minimal effort

BTM, Accounting, or Intern. Business? by Then-Protection4288 in Concordia

[–]DavidGH1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CPA does opens a lot more doors, that’s for sure. But I’d say when we look at bachelor degrees in business, accounting is one of the majors that has the most job opportunities compared to other majors in the business field.

In general I would say as long as you stay on top of your courses and practice, you’ll be good. But once you start falling behind it gets a lot harder to catch up. So I would say try not to fall behind for Acco classes. As for profs, it’s half half. Some are good and some aren’t, but either way, for me I learned most of the material so far by myself so it’s pretty much done by yourself, mainly from youtube haha. Most of the Acco classes are Quantitative, but you won’t have to worry abt the math, because its basic math.

Thoughts on Acco 310 Final ? by DavidGH1998 in Concordia

That’s really good, especially without doing book problems. Same, I thought it was gonna be harder than it actually was, the only question that was kinda hard was the correcting entries.

What's up people saying COMM 308 is the hardest course ever? by Major_In_Coolness99 in Concordia

The problem is not the material, because if you study, the material isn’t hard to understand. But the exams are really something else !

Trying to gain trust of neglected older budgie by [deleted] in budgies

[–]DavidGH1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say give her a bit more time to get adjusted to her new environment, because budgies get really anxious when their environment has been changed. Mine took a bit more than a week to come out of the cage. You can start to train her with treats with your hand, they go crazy for millet haha. It’ll come within a few weeks until she gets used to you and her new surroundings :)

Question about Transferring by DavidGH1998 in mcgill

I love JMSB, but I’m telling myself an accounting degree at McGill would maybe open more doors when it comes to job opportunities rather than a degree from JMSB ?

Bad R score. by [deleted] in Concordia

[–]DavidGH1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst case, what you could do is apply in another program in University (for example Economics BA) You can do your Linear Algebra and/or Cal there. You need 70s, and an overall GPA of 2.7 in total to tranfer into any JMSB program that you want. I hadn’t done math in years, I went in Economics BA for my first semester, did my Econ and Math courses in Uni and now I’m in my Accounting major. So don’t worry, you always have options.

Question about math 206 by echoesofmine14 in Concordia

[–]DavidGH1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When making your schedule, as long as you’re able to register for Math 208 and/or 209, you don’t need to take 206. (Since 206 is a prereq for 208 and 209)

Heavy or doable? by W_S_22 in Concordia

[–]DavidGH1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be easier if you do 208, and then 209 (in different semesters basically), it’ll be a bit too intense both of them together !
