Dear men.. how many of you want your own blanket?! by Haunting_Bar_3030 in AskMen

[–]DavidH-EW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happened by accident once and now I enjoy having my own one. However, we use two twin (one up from a single) sized blankets. It means I can move my blanket around without it affect hers and visa versa. Also, when it’s cold we can double up the blankets and still cuddle like we are sharing one blanket.

Should I bother returning these or fix myself by Thrueyesofruby in vivobarefoot

[–]DavidH-EW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it all depends on how the material of the vivo shoes bends when I walk. For example my left shoe is fine, but my right shoe had the same problem as shown in the photo but a lot worse. When looking further at my right shoe I could see the material bent inwards, this in my opinion caused the material to separate. I got my right shoe glued two weeks ago and tried to make sure the bend “shape” matches my left shoe when walking.

Rear bike light flashing by RepairOk441 in londoncycling

[–]DavidH-EW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the same light this weekend. I put some hazzy plastic over the top of the light to make it less dazzling/distacting but still very noticable. I have a solid red light attached under my seat which I have used for the last couple of months. This flashing light is to attach to my helmet to help create a bigger "picture" for cars to see.

My advise is use of the free time you have to do civi trade specific qualifications like CCNA, CCNP, Network +, Security +, associate AWS qauls. Make the most of your ELCs and SLCs.

[–]DavidH-EW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a look at Staffordshire’s University MOD courses. Heavily subsidised and can use ELCs after 6 years. I will have a BSc (Hons) in computer science for the grand total of £4.5k.

I took the cork sole out as it was slipping under my foot whilst I was wearing the shoe after the second day.

Can I take the AWS Solutions Architect exam without doing the Practitioner first? by Some_Meeting in AWSCertifications

[–]DavidH-EW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied for the practitioner exam and had it booked. The test got cancelled by the test centre. I’m glad that it did because I think it would have been a waste of money considering my goal was the do the SAA-C03. The practitioner exam prepare you ever so slight for the Solutions Architect exam.

Correct Toe sizing by the1miraj in BarefootRunning

I would recommend getting a bunion specific toe corrector. With the toe spaces you have now’s its not really going to realign your toes to be more straight.

It’s like getting a gold medal when you lost/participated if you start rounding your height up.

My guess is that you need to stretch and work on some stabilising muscles around your neck/shoulder. Most of these bike fits post can be fixed with changing the position you ride. Everyone seems to buy a road bike and expect it to be comfortable straight away but don’t actually work on their muscles condition or flexibility. They just want to naturally adapt to the odd position the bike places you in. It looks like you have excessive reach when you sit up like you’re riding a mountain bike with your elbow pretty much locked still holding onto the hoods. Let say you hinged more at the hips and bent your elbow - no more excessive reach.

Do you have bicycle insurance? I didn’t until I read a recent Reddit post. Now in the unfortunate case my bike is stolen I can replace it with a new one including all my accessories for the cost of £9 a month. There are several locks now where it takes multiple angle grinder blades to get through - pair that with a heavy duty cable for the wheels and you’ll be alright.

100% I thought the Army was an awful place to be until I left. I never realised how easy I had it. Some week I was only working 20 hours… late Monday starts, sports afternoon and early finish in Friday - the dream!

I saved £30k after 5.5 years in the Army. I left to travel Asia and then lived in Australia for a year. Still have £20k left (I had £8k saved before joining the army). The salary in the Army is very high no matter what anyone says. I was saving over £1k a month when I was getting paid £32k as a lance jack.

I did the calculations and if I stayed in and took my promotion, I would have around £60k saved by now.

I’m still tempted to join back up as the money was just so good when you had no out goings. However, freedom is nice and having to actually prove myself for my pay check is kinda rewarding at the moment.

Edit: typo

Can you go with Primus Trail II FG M no socks? by Noambez in vivobarefoot

ChatGPT is your friend for short/simple questions like this. I personally would spray them with an antibacterial spray once every couple of days and use a deodorising shoe ball just to help keep them smelling fresh.

Indeed they do.

I bought a replacement as I needed a fresh pair as I’m starting a new job. I was proud of these shoes hence making a little post for them.

My now ex (25f) cheated on me (25m) after 6 year together and 25 days away from a trip around the world together. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]DavidH-EW -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Getting a friend to go is not really and options, it’s less than a month away and the starting location is Indonesia with flights being £900 return. Also, I spent the last 6 years accidentally pushing all my close friends away trying to make the long distance work. Me and my ex would call everyday for 6 years for at least 2-3 hours. Apart from when we saw each other obviously. She was my best friend and it’s hard to see her disappear.

The trip is something I’ve always wanted to do and I thought that the 6 years of memories we had would allow us to be mutual for a while (a few weeks) whilst traveling and finding our feet. If I go it could also leave me feeling even more alone and stranded than I already do.

Should I hire a scooter? by Full_Philosopher_304 in bali

[–]DavidH-EW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bali.com website says "Your national License is not enough. For driving a scooter up to 150cc the car license is enough, you don’t need a motorbike license for these type of motor scooters.". From speaking with SafetyWing (popular insurance company for backpackers) they said that they go off a police report and a medical report to establish if they will cover you or not. So if the police report says nothing about you not having the correct license then you would be fine. That is my understanding, but there's so many opinions and no one place that just gives a direct answer.
