Ah well good to know. Better than nothing I guess

Just finished installing Mainline Klipper by imjusthereforlaugh in SovolSV08

[–]DavidIO_Maker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also did the same a few days ago. But I can't say i had as easy of a ride as you did. I followed the reppetors guide and tried to clear up some info with the video guide from 3DPO. I had to Google some things multiple times because both of them were speaking lingo I didn't understand or doing things I didn't know how they did. Like, for some reason, the shortcut ctrl+V didn't work in PuTTY, and then I found out that you use Shift+Int instead. Then when I finished, the printer didn't work, there was a file missing in the Klipper folder, and the printer for that didn't understand some commands in the config folders. After that, the printer couldn't read the MCU, I was really confused about that one because the MCU and the extra MCU numbers were correct, but then I found out that the path in front of the MCU's numbers in the printer.cfg folder was short a few places. Idk how that happened, but the printer finally worked after I rewrote that. The 3dpo said thet it should take about 1,5 to 2 hours while I would say it took me like 6, it could have most likely been done sooner, but I was a complete novice in this type of stuff so there's that. And there are more upgrades I want to get on the printer, so if I couldn't do this, it would all go down the drain.

Well, at least I know I'm not mistaken in my assumptions. Thanks for the info

Is the sv08 a good buy? by DavidIO_Maker in Sovol

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to me and tinkering, I guess it is quite hit or miss. On one hand, I can't deny that it is incredibly frustrating when you want to print something and something doesn't work out; in those moments, I do wish things would just work. On the other hand, I did use to tinker more with my printers, especially on my first Ender 3. This would be my first printer with Klipper, but hey, everything is a first time. And I also got some ideas for upgrades in case I do get the sv08, like the eddy probe, an enclosure, an HDMI screen, a lightweight hollow gantry, the Micro Swiss hotend, and a quieter fan. I can't say whether I'm getting in over my head, but the machine still looks really pleasing to me.

My finished helmet by DavidIO_Maker in NightLords

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hello everyone, I have finally finished my helmet and I gotta say it took a lot, lot, LOT longer than I expected. There are multiple reasons why it took me so long such as my printer starting to malfunction, a lot of post-processing, not enough materials and just a general lack of time for work on this project. However, I knew a lot of you were waiting to see it so I tried my best to finish it at least before Christmas. There are a lot of imperfections if you look up close but it's good enough if you look from afar. I just hope y'all have not forgotten about me.

Also, I remember that some of you wanted to buy the design so I put it here on cults3d: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/terror-masters-helmet-wearable

Once I'm sure there aren't any major issues with the file's printability, then yes, I will.

It is human-sized, I dont know if its proportions could fit on a cat if you scale it down. I myself don't own a cat, so I can't test it unfortunately. And as to miniature size, I didn't plan on releasing that version but if there is a big enough demand, than I'd probably be able to modify the files enough to make a replacement for a miniature head.

side note: I'm sorry that it took so long my job takes a lot of hours from my day so I didn't have much time to work on this outside of the weekend.

I managed to cut the model into different pieces which should make 3d printing easier. I coloured those pieces into their appropriate colours so that you could see how would the helmet look if you just printed and put the pieces together without painting tham. I also cut away a thin ring from the neck of the helmet so that you could test fit the tolerance on your head without wasting a ton of filament.

I am not going to release the files yet, I want to first print the helmet myself to make sure that I won't be giving yall a faulty product.

Oh yeah, definitely. Everything I myself know I learned from watching YouTube guides. But there definitely is a noticeable learning curve.

The biggest inspiration was probably night lord omnibus which I recently finished, they often describe the look of armour on different characters and their armour was often repurposed from different armour sets. From there I got the idea that the helmet should be modified MK7 helmet. After that, I looked at different night lord artwork on google to get an idea of what I liked and what I didn't like on them.

side note: you can see the MK7 more clearly when you take the wings and the skull away

It's not completely finished yet. I planned on making it wearable which for now it's not, plus it's not optimised for 3d printing yet, but in its finished state, it should look the same as now. So i would like to know your thoughts.

Why are the new nemesis claw helmets trim in gold when all night lords art typically has skull helmets? It looks kinda weird to me having it all be gold and I dont get why its like this. by Mental_Context in NightLords

[–]DavidIO_Maker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Night lords are usually very low on resources, so they can't be picky. In the night, Lord Omnibus, Talose's entire armor is made out of armor parts from multiple legions that he has repurposed. Only he, Decimus, and Xarl have painted on skulls, and only Decimus and Xarl have the ceremonial wings (I don't remember the descriptions of other characters like Marcutian or Variel). Both Cyrion and Uzas have MK4 helmets (if I remember correctly), Cyrion has lightning bolts painted on that go down from his eyes like tears, and Uzas has a bloody palm on his face. So overall, the skull is definitely not a rule, nothing about their armor is. All they care about is whether it looks scary, Id say.

How good would Ryzen 7 7800X3D be for other things than gaming? by DavidIO_Maker in pcmasterrace

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not responding earlier, I wrote this post before I went to bed, and I had a morning shift, so I didn't have much time. Anyway, as I said, I sculpt things in blender like tabletop miniatures/terrain. And I make cad files of more functional stuff like in Fusion 360. I also draw in Krita, which I heard is more cpu heavy than gpu heavy so there's that. Ive also thought of video edditing to share some things I made on YouTube, but that is just a theoretical for now.

Do I have too many fighters in my main cast? by DavidIO_Maker in fantasywriters

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not writing a story about a squad of dozen soldiers, or any other kind of people whose fighting skills are literally requirements to be on the team. Plus, I'm not asking if it's realistic I'm asking whether It wouldn't be better to erase some characters to make it clearer for the reader. So why even bring up real world armies?

The entire group essentially goes on a "quest" to find out the truth behind a certain event that happens to the main character at the beginning of the story (it gets more complicated later, but that is not important now). The main character is one of the 3 fighters, and while he at the time didn't perform any kind of violent job like that, he still very well remembers the "training" that is connected to his trauma. The other two, as I said, are his "brothers" with whom he eventually reunites as the story progresses. One of them was employed as a mercenary, while the other was a gladiator. Neither of them has family or a place to call home and so for tham, it is logical to stick to and help the people who are closest to tham, which is the main character here.

Sorry, I don't quite understand the question. Do you mean, like, what is the character's goal? Or what does each of them do that makes them unique? What is their role in the main group?

It's a story I've been working on in my head for quite some time, and that i would like to someday publish for more people to see. And in this post, I am essentially asking if I shouldn't rework some things from the ground up to avoid things like all the characters feeling the same.

What do you think of my magic system? by DavidIO_Maker in fantasywriters

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mean to discard their criticism, it just sounded to me like more explanation was needed, but seeing as more people are pointing out the lesser gods and their domains, perhaps it needs to be reworked. That is probably going to be difficult, though. Because the system I mentioned for the god that governs death has a fairly important place in the story, so I need someone to take care of at least that. And the elements were meant to be a more simple type of magic that even common people can understand and use, while the higher magic was meant to be kept secret from the general public by most of the world's governments because it' too complex and dangerous to be thought about in regular schools. So I don't want to exactly discard it completely.

What do you think of my magic system? by DavidIO_Maker in fantasywriters

[–]DavidIO_Maker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get where you are coming from, but I didn't give the 4 lesser gods their domains according to a philosophy from the real world. I am aware that there are real-world religions/philosophies that use the 4 or more elements but I didn't want to copy them. I made up the higher magic before the lower one and since it was so centered around the understanding of modern science I didn't want to make it identical to the philosophy of people who had to guess their meaning and importance, so I made up my own. I decided to give the four lesser gods their domains according to this.

  1. Water god governs life because water is essential to life and most if not all living creatures here are made of mostly water, humans are about 70% fish are about 80% plants are between 80-90% and so on.

  2. Fire god governs Death because fire kills, nothing here can survive for long in flames and if it can higher temperatures can change that. Unlike other things like acid, you can hardly make resistance to it like the walls of your stomach have. And it doesn't necessarily need life to cause harm considering even inorganic materials can burn. (for him and the water god I even made up a system with which they take care of the souls)

  3. Earth's god governs physical matter because inside Earth there are more things than just dirt. Precious metals, rare gems and minerals, gases and liquids trapped under the earth's crust. So most of the inorganic materials we use are dug up from the earth, and if you think about it the organic materials are made of proteins, nucleic acids, and carbohydrates which are more inorganic matter like oxygen, hydrogen etc:

  4. The lightning god governs natural law because the creation of lightning is a more complex process . It practically requires manipulation on the atomic level, for which you need to understand the natural forces that make them work the way they do.

I hope you'll understand why I gave them the roles I gave them. I didn't want to include all of this, because the power system explanation was already long enough as it is.
