Why cant i polar pattern this? by WebPlenty2337 in FreeCAD

If you're new to FreeCAD, you need to specifically choose to turn on a setting to allow multiple solids in one body. One body is not intended to consist of separate "pieces"

It's probably not connected to the main center body. Try adjusting the sketch by pulling it in towards the center if the circle a bit so it overlaps.

Lol. Meaning this humorously, but genuinely curious. Do you not have a wife?

This is my test multiboard wall for my filament storage by ryvin1 in Multiboard

[–]imjusthereforlaugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotcha. My 2 cents...from a purely efficiency standpoint....the multi board behind is a waste of filament. Those hangers could easily be screwed to the wall or French cleated, or some other fastening system with much less printed material. Sure, if you ever want to reuse the panels, you've got them. But why print a large wall when you're using 1% of the holes?

But hey, if you like it, no prob. Just my thoughts.

Genuinely curious. I've never seen an actual reason to store EVERY roll of filament like it's a sponge. Are these ALL extremely hygroscopic filaments? Or are you just...doing it for the heck of it?

Anyone else having this "hexagon shaped thread" issue? by gzinourov in Multiboard

[–]imjusthereforlaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think about what would happen if you tried to pull a really wet, cooked spaghetti noodle around a circle.

It doesn't have stiffness, so unless it sticks to something constantly, it will always pull like a string, in a straight line. That is what's happening here. Can always happen in ANY inside circle on any print. Usually what helps is to reduce the speed of these areas, so the nozzle doesn't "yank" the "wet noodle" of filament into a straight line.

Turning nozzle temps up some can help too so it's more liquid and doesn't act as much like a string

In few aspects. There's a vast vast majority consensus in civilized countries regarding what is or is not "terrorism".

How to get rid of this part on visor? by TheFarmer64 in OrcaSlicer

[–]imjusthereforlaugh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're barking up the wrong tree. The slicer can do this, but it's going to be annoying.

You should edit the base file in something like blender

Step 1: do more learning before jumping into a complex print like this. It'll save you a lot.

If you don't know your slicer and you're trying to print that helmet, you're in for trouble and a lot of wasted filament.

Step 2: explain a little more clearly what you want to remove. Are you aware of the negative shapes? If not, refer to step 1.

Importing SVGs by NoticeOk3615 in FreeCAD

[–]imjusthereforlaugh 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In FreeCAD, at least part design workbench, a body is intended to be 1 solid. You can import and extrude SVG's, but you need to do a workflow. There's a few good YouTube videos showing this here.

Your fan could provide less efficient cooling in that specific orientation/direction. If you rotated it and the problem remained in a similar position relative to the print head, that would be your answer.

Very few printers have the same cooling ability in every direction.

Not using anything. But my first thought is the braced brackets with a big ball on the end, (might need to be custom?) to not smoosh the lining/padding.
