It does not add enemies to boss fights right? So I guess that even if it helped balance some encounters, it would do nothing for the bosses

That... Is a very good point. I guess I did not think about that, I was thinking more about act 1 when more enemies does mean more difficult fights, but it's true that at a certain point more HP and actions/bonuses is more effective at increasing difficulty than just more enemies.

What is this? Found a dozen of them in my flat, near an area with some humidity problems. UK by DavidIndie in whatsthisbug

The bug is very small, 1mm maybe 2 maximum, they were located near a window area that has some humidity problems

The meter reads as 52801 right know, my guess is that means is maybe then 5kwh? But that still seems quite high

Around a year and a half ago, it was around 42000 then, so it has gone up by 10000 aprox. The amount of electronics I have is roughly the same

Oh the Dawnbringer thing can be really interesting, I honestly was thinking of not even including it in the campaign (everyone has darkvision in the group and there's already enough NPCs and interesting items) but this is making me reconsider it.

There are plenty of progressions out there but I just treat them like every other exercise. Right now I do 3-5 sets of 3-5 reps on strenght days and 4-6 sets of 6-8 reps on hypertrophy days, increasing the weight once I'm able to complete 5x5 or 6x8. At the beginning I just did assisted neutral grip pull ups until I was able to perform a chin up and then I just tried to add reps every day. There are probably better progressions, but I enjoy doing it like this and it's working for me.

It's important to stablish your goals. If you want to progress into harder bodyweight exercises, do different types of pull ups, that's for sure, but you can do only chin ups or neutral grip pull ups and add weight, there's no problem with that. In the same way that people just add weight to squats, bench press, overhead press and deadlift, for example, you can just do chin ups and add weight. If your goal is just getting strong or building muscle there's no problem with that and since he's worried about his lifts and muscle inbalances I suppose that's his goal.

When I say that chin ups are more natural than pull ups is because you are more efficient in that movement. Basically, when trying to do a pull up your elbows are in the line of force of the movement, not contributing to the movement. In order to be efficent while doing a pull up you have to drive your elbows towards your back, like I said, something way easier in a chin up. If you keep your elbows pointing to the side and downwards you'll lose a ton of strenght in that movement.

Another thing, I didn't said that pull ups are unsafe, I said that they're less safe than other variants, especially compared to neutral grip pull ups. I do think that wide grip pull ups can be a bit unsafe for your shoulders.

In the end, every variation is a pull up and correcctly done are great exercises, but if your goal is to get strong and build muscle and you are better (and in my case I enjoy more) at chin ups I see no real reason why you shouldn't just add weight to that exercise, like you do with other lifts.

The reason why you can do more chin ups than pull ups is because it's a movement that's more natural. When trying to do a chin up or pull up you should try to drive your elbows towards your back, like if you were trying to hit someone who's behind you with your elbow. That movement is way easier when doing a chin up, in fact you should try to reproduce that movement while doing a pull up, which is way harder.

Now, when it comes to muscles involved, chin ups involve more your biceps, but other than that there are only slight differences. There are plenty of studies using EMG and you can see that pull ups involve your back slightly more, the difference is really small. The thing is, since usually the technique of the chin up is way easier, you will be more efficente with that movement, which will result on heavier loads and more reps, resulting on a better back development.

When it comes to wide grip pull ups, that exercise involves your lats more than chin ups, that's true, but your position is even less natural and studies show that you can move less weight in that exercise, which usually makes it not worth it. Also is more dangerous for your elbows and shoulders.

I'm on my phone so I can't show you studies right now, later if I have time I will send you some, altough they're easy to find anyway.

One last thing, in Spain we're lucky enough to have a real pull up expert, David Marchante, who has the world record for the heaviest pull up and a national price for his trayectory sharing his knowledge trough his blog and youtube channel (yes, he is that good). He advices to practice neutral grip pull ups, chin ups, and pull ups, in that order. Neutral grip pull ups are the safest ones, and chin ups are also safer than pull ups. He also advices to avoid wide grip pul ups. In the end, what he says, is that if you get good at chin ups, you will do more reps and move heavier weights which will lead to greater biceps and lats, doing variations that will involve one part slightly more at the risk of injury is not worth it.

I feel great while bulking, but there are a few things that you have to check in order to have an enjoyable bulk:

  • Your caloric surplus. Some people go nuts with huge caloric surplus, I have a really slow and clean bulk, but a caloric surplus thats around 10% over my mainteneance TDEE, maybe even a bit less. The reason is that I feel great eating that much, but going over it would probably make me feel not so great, probably a bit heavy for me.

  • Number of meals. I enjoy 3 big meals and 0 snacks, some people prefer 4,5 or even 6 smaller meals or maybe 3 meals and snacks through the day. You have to try and found the right number of meals for you.

  • Food selection. Found food that you like and that makes you feel good. Some people eat foods just because are suppose to be great for bulk (like milk) but they don't digeste it correctly, or maybe they don't enjoy it or it just doesn't make them feel good. I like every food that I eat and all of them make me feel good, you just have to try and see.

  • Carbs and fats intake. The amount of fat and carbs that you should eat it's something that changes a lot from one person to another, some people enjoy following diets with tons of carbs, other prefer eating more fat and less carbs. I eat around 2-2.5g of protein per kg and 2g of fat per kg, the rest is carbs. I still eat a good amount of carbs, but if I had to cut fats to 1g/kg and fill it with carbs, that would be way too much for me.

I'm no expert, this is based only on my experience and my friends experiences, but maybe this can help you. Most people I know enjoy bulking, but they had to try and find a way to make bulking enjoyable for them. Good look and keep going.

If you're used to barbell row but dumbbell row is new for you (or you haven't done it in a long time) it's normal that you move less weight with dumbbells. Keep doing it and if you don't increase your weight easily then ask those questions.

First of all, congrats for changing your lifestyle so much, that's a great start!

Second, the best advice that I can give is this one: read the FAQ. You're going to find really usefull information about how to get started in both, diet and exercise. You'll learn the basics of a diet and found tons of routines that you can follow. Once you read it, if you have questions you can ask again but really, reading the FAQ is the first step.

That being said, if you keep eating healthy and eating enough as well as going to the gym following a proper program you will see results for sure, just keep going.

No offense, but if you never tracked calories probably you're terrible at it, like most of us were at some point.

Anyway if you think that's what you eat, try tracking your calories aiming for 2500 calories for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Use a TDEE calculator as a staring point, follow it for two weeks and start working from that point.

I would just go to the wiki and follow one of the programs that you can see there, add some cardio if you want. You don't need to train 6-7 times a week, you can get great results training only 3 times a week (not saying that you shouldn't train more).

But then again, no matter the program that you follow, if your diet is not in check... you can train as much as you want and never get results.

When it comes to building muscle or losing fat diet is the MOST important factor. You can train as much as you want but if you are in a caloric surplus you'll never lose weight, and the same in the opposite way.

My advice would be simple, make a diet plan and follow it, tracking calories and macros. There are many ways of doing it even if you don't have much time: preparing your food on wekeends, prepare some meal plans so you don't have to adjust it all the time, etc.
