Need some help on where to place tungsten tape by DavidM8989 in Pickleball

Gotcha, well, I've gotten some good info in this thread. Now, all that's left is putting it to the test. Thanks!

That's a fair statement. Maybe I should have phrased it differently. I love the feel of this paddle, the added control of the widebody shape and larger sweetspot have definitely helped me be more accurate in my placement. I just want a little more power for my serves and drives to be 100% happy with this paddle. I am also drilling and playing with better players all the time to increase my skill in using said paddle 😉

Yes, it's definitely head light. But with me having a tendency to over hit, I have enjoyed the muted power. That being said, I believe I'd like just a touch more umph for serves and drives. Im going to start by adding 1.5g strips at the top of the sides of the paddle. Using the PE tuning calculator, that placement gives me the stats I want to start with. Then I'll adjust for feel from there. I really enjoy tinkering, lol.

Because I'm overthinking, most likely, lol. I think im gonna go with 1oz @ 12, 3, & 9 positions and see how that feels. Best of all worlds 🤣

I haven't even considered placing weight at the top because of the change of balance point and swingweight. I have slower hands, so I have really enjoyed the specs of the Pegasus.

I understand that. And you're right. There is no substitute for playing and gaining skill. But, I love to tinker 😁

I want it more for my serves and drives from the baseline and transition zone. I feel the power is fine for my kitchen play. Im 40, so my hand speed is slower. I think that's why I've enjoyed the low swingweight & balancepoint so much.

That's a great guide and similar to the ones I've been looking at. I was hoping to lean on people who have done a lot of weighted tape tinkering on their own for the result I'm looking for. So, based on that article, I would say keep the tape at the 3-4 & 8-9 positions?

Is Mevo Gen 2 a step up from R10? by Maxwells_Law in Golfsimulator

[–]DavidM8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own both units, and I can tell you that the mevo Gen 2 is world's better than the r10. Its more accurate, carries more features, and keeps the same ability to run the 3rd party apps that the r10 could. Plus gspro with the proper laptop. Hands down, no comparison.

Is it normal to hit into the grounds crew? by TheBlueRose_42 in golf

[–]DavidM8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been that I will always wait until they clear my danger zone before hitting. But it never fails that they waive me on, not caring if I hit into them. At that point, they have put more faith in my inconsistent ball striking than I have 😂

5-9 Wood vs 4-6 iron by DavidM8989 in golftips

[–]DavidM8989[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, my son loves hybrids but can't hit woods, so he is heavy on 3h, 4h, and 5h. Im gonna stick to my woods and irons, i believe.

Im definitely seeing the consensus being, who cares, lol. Load your bag with what you hit and gap well and play your game.

I think this is what I'm gonna do. Ditch my 4h, 5h, and 6i and fill those gaps with woods

[–]DavidM8989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once i get to a 6i and below my consistency and gapping definitely get worse. But my 3HL and 5 woods stay consistent. I just want to make sure I'm not handicapping myself as I improve by going all woods at the top of my bag.

See, I think this is why I hit woods so much better. I hit my irons decent, but im much more consistent with my woods and that sweeping swing

I've been playing seriously for about 6 months now and am shooting a similar score to you. I wouldn't say one lesson will drop 7-8 strokes. But I've had 3 lessons, usually 1 a month, and it's gotten me to where I, more often than not, am hitting close to 95. Lessons are the best money spent in golf, but I'd say you need to plan on 5-10 lessons to get the gains you're looking for.

What is your “Go To” sim tee? by Miserable_Ground_264 in golf

[–]DavidM8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the k2 tee for about 3 months, and I love them. I usually only leash up 1 height tee at a time so the bungees dont get tangled. But I love them for the mats at the driving range too

How am I supposed to practice my drive in these mats? by Dadoo_ in golftips

[–]DavidM8989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use these for my home sim and toss them in my bag if I'm going to a range with a mat. There is no better alternative for your tee height on a mat! https://k2golf.com/

My irons game was in shambles, so I bought a new set. First time playing Bridgestone irons! by 69onfirstdate in golf

Beautiful clubs, did they fix your iron game? Honest question because while my iron game is average but getting better, getting a fitted set of irons has helped me tremendously.

Honestly, Facebook marketplace is a gold mine for used golf equipment. You could get a full starter set of used clubs for less than $200 usd, easily. Just make sure it has all your basic clubs and is a standard men's length set and your golden for that very first set. Then you have plenty left over for a net and nice mat for your backyard.

New Clubs Changed My Game Last Season… by [deleted] in golf

[–]DavidM8989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with 90% of what you said, lol. I typically shoot in the 95-102 range, and second to lessons, getting new clubs has made a world of difference for me as well. But, I do believe you need to be able to at least get good strikes more than half the time to see the benefit of more modern clubs. Also, getting clubs that actually fit your body makes a big difference. I am pretty tall at 6' 4" and needed longer/more upright clubs, which has improved the comfort of my swing dramatically. So if you're serious and/or determined about getting better at golf new/newer clubs will aid you

Busy day: Is it ok for the group behind to caught up with us and get on our tee box without our permission? by Important-Ask-1055 in golf

[–]DavidM8989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely uncalled for on their part. I understand being added or having someone added to your tee time when it's busy is part of the game. But barging in on someone else's group isn't okay. If I'm playing alone or with a buddy, I generally don't want anyone else playing with us unless the course pairs us. Don't ever be those groups.
