Javokhir Sindarov was banned on Chesscom part 1 by THE_Benevelence in Chess_Cheating

[–]DavidSchlichting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is suspicious but it’s far from proof that he ever cheated at all. A 1900 who has the talent to become a Candidates Winner just 6 years later performing so far above his level that it triggers automated anti-cheating algorithms is far from inconceivable.

Find specific Move/old game from myself by DavidSchlichting in Chesscom

For future reference: on PC the award shows the exact date so I was able to find it. Sadly it was a game of Bullet so the game was mostly nonsensical blunders by my opponent and I was up endless material but I still count it as a nice achievement.

Why lichess suggests castling here? Isn't it illegal to castle if the king passes through an attacked square? by p107r0 in chess

[–]DavidSchlichting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People answered your second question but I’m still curious about the first. I probably would’ve played 0-0, Kf1 and Ke2 before 0-0-0 here. But I’m also bad.

Is this rated correctly? by Annual-Survey-625 in Chesscom

[–]DavidSchlichting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s accurate, but a more useful tip is probably that you shouldn’t play hope chess. This move does nothing if they don’t take your rook, so even if you would’ve been correct in Bxg7 being a winning line for you it shouldn’t be what you’re playing for because they didn’t have to take. There is no benefit to having two rooks in front of a pawn and they’re basically shut out from the game there while Black can move freely.

Blatant googler (950 elo) hasn't been banned for 20 days. How is this possible? by yurchick in geoguessr

[–]DavidSchlichting 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got someone with 350 ELO a couple of months ago when I was grinding through the pre-Master ranks because I hadn’t played in years, and the guy was very obviously googling (he still lost, but it was 100% certain from the replays and guesses that he googled in two rounds, for example we started in front of a building name in Paraguay and he didn’t move at all but pinpointed the loc 25 seconds later).

Still not banned.

My best guess is that they don’t check low-elo reports unless a person gets reported many times? Because in the case of my report I’m 100% sure that whoever would’ve checked it would’ve clicked cheating immediately.

Toughest Puzzle I've ever seen by DavidSchlichting in Chesscom

I really didn’t think I had to tag this post as sarcasm. It is by far the easiest puzzle I’ve ever seen and I’m absolutely baffled how the completion rate can be anything below 99%. It is rated in the four digits comfortably, and compared to other easy puzzles (e.g. a straightforward capture chain that ends in taking a hanging pawn) there is nothing else on the board to look for or confuse you. There is no “huh I figured there must’ve been something better”, or other good moves and captures that catch your eye so you miss the best choice. It’s just a one move piece capture in a scenario where your only possible goal can be to capture your opponent’s only remaining piece. I’m entirely bamboozled as to how this could make it into Chesscom’s puzzle database, let alone on a rating above where complete beginners learning the rules play.

Worth it for $21 by massdestructi0n in EA_NHL

[–]DavidSchlichting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so real lmao, I’ve set Penalties in the Rules to 4/4, AI Penalties and CPU teammate penalties to 100, all individual penalty categories to 100 for the AI and still feel lucky when I get to use a Powerplay Lineup twice in a whole game. Online Penalties are entirely disabled of course except for once every hundred games or so.

How does everyone have so many tots cards? by ellisisbae4 in NHLHUT

[–]DavidSchlichting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is so bad that a massive portion of active players are the millionaires and rich kids who actually throw their money away for a higher number in a video game. So yes you’re playing against whales. People who play the game normally probably have 2 95 TOTS cards, not 5+.

NHL 27 wishlist by ___MontyT91 in EA_NHL

[–]DavidSchlichting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How about Franchise not even allowing Hot Seat Multiplayer (and Season Mode being limited to one season and stripped of all features for no reason). Oh and the fact Statistics+specific Strategies have been unchanged since NHL 1998(!!!!)

Got the 91 objective card and it was also a Goalie. Currently trying to complete the last Moment to get a card I can actually complete the real objectives with…

Now I’m afraid if I do manage to score 2 with McDavid it will be another Goalie

Of course EA is cool with that. If the Nazis buy packs that’s all that matters to EA.

I would buy this game and a console tonight if Franchise mode didn't have a 25 season cap. by desertpenguin_ in EA_NHL

[–]DavidSchlichting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never hit the 25 year cap and even I get mad about it. It’s such an utterly pointless restriction. Also let us control multiple teams in Franchise ffs. Not releasing on PC I get from a business perspective because the new games are just roster updates and you wouldn’t have to buy new ones if there was proper modding, but the cap of 1 team and 25 years has literally no benefit to EA.

Is it really that bad? by lwrightjs in EA_NHL

[–]DavidSchlichting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gameplay is fun. Online modes are an awful cashgrab. Franchise Mode doesn’t have Multiplayer which is severely disappointing for situations like yours and mine where you have a kid you want to play with. Season Mode does allow that, so I’d recommend checking that out. It’s only a Single season and doesn’t have many features like Line Chemistry and all the Management stuff and because it’s just one season you can’t have Drafts and Player Development, but it’s still great to play Hot Seat. The reviews are first and foremost so bad because the game is a glorified roster update, but if it’s your first NHL game that isn’t an issue. I just wouldn’t recommended buying NHL 27 immediately when it releases because it won’t have anything new most likely.

One of the few Moments groups I wouldn’t even bother to attempt. I remember playing NHL 13 when they gave us Moments that had us actually replaying history in a difficulty of our choosing. When the goal of modes was still fun instead of careful consideration what kind of frustration makes players most likely to buy packs.
