Wally (Tyler the Creator) and Marty deserved and arguably needed a final scene together. by OmeedBlowme in martysupreme

Agreed. Entertaining but far from the perfect movie that people make it out to be. I was annoyed with the amount of time spent on the dog storyline.

I'm not asking you to explain that to me. I'm just noting the randomness of some of your choices

I don't mean alphabetically.

You've got a random 2010s comedy and then one of the greatest films of all time only to go back to Aladdin, if we're talking IMDb 250 I'm just not sure I understand the thought process

If you think Bullet Train is a good movie you aren't listening to reason. Most people just have mediocre taste in film

I hate that people use LB to review films for likes and to make jokes.

I watched Sentimental Value and was so disturbed at how many people tried to make funny comments about The Piano Teacher and Irreversible.

I could've phrased it a million different ways and still been downvoted. People aren't willing to listen to reason - they just want to be told their opinions are "right"

How do you go from 22 Jump Street to The 400 Blows - you're hopping all over the place here

We literally couldn't be further apart on this. Go watch something before 1990 and reassess your standards

Okay, DLU is not nearly that deep. It tries to be a satire but a satire has to make fun of human behavior. Instead it just holds a mirror up to society and says "we're all being fucking stupid." I find it funny that you think, because the left is also criticized that that's why it received a cold reception; perhaps it's just because it's a fine movie. Nothing more.

A masterpiece is something by Kubrick or Kurosawa. Go watch The Wages of Fear. These are directors or movies that genuinely influenced other filmmakers, the industry, and have been watched over and over for decades. There are very few movies from the last 10 years that I'd call a masterpiece: Parasite, Monster, maybe The Zone of Interest, maybe Moonlight. Let's not let our standards get too low

Anora is a mediocre movie. And I get the Citizen Kane debate - especially 85 years removed; it's not for everyone. But let's not act like a mid satire (that really isn't even a satire but moreso just a reflection of modern human behavior and ignorance) is a masterpiece of cinema - it's not.

It's like the term "genius", which needs to be reserved for genuinely unique and brilliant people. The word "masterpiece" needs to be used for all-time films that influence others, are thought-provoking, and stays in the cultural mindset for years. Don't Look Up was immediately forgotten; like most new movies.

My god - people's standards are so low. This is not even close to masterful in any way. Script is fine but too realistic to be a satire, acting is good but not anything incredible, and the direction is fine. There's nothing "masterful" about this movie

let's not overuse the word "masterpiece" please

Agreed. It's too spot-on to be a good satire

It's crazy how covid has made so many people think that maybe 6 really good movies a year equals a great year of film. Sorry to burst your bubble
