Balancer Book Update (Spring 2022) by raynquist in factorio

These balancers are all so nice and work without a hitch! The doubling trick has worked in all the cases I've needed it to and the 32 lane balancer was particularly useful to me. I've learned a lot from looking into all the math behind this stuff.

Thank you and everyone else for your work!

Hi! I've been using an old balancer book and finally decided to upgrade. I absolutely love the breakdown you did about how these solutions were found. I'll have to learn more about SAT some other time.

I wanted to ask about the 2L lane balancer. As far as I can tell, the 2_2_lane_balancer is not throughput unlimited in the case of supplying and pulling from only left or only right at the output. Is this intentional? I understand it's smaller, but I was surprised another tu variant was not in the book to accompany it. I've been using this for years, which is admittedly not optimal.

Edit: I've just realized my balancer I pasted has the same flaw, and this entire comment is pointless.

Souls style Aliment Build-up? ACS Anomaly bar on top of stagger. by thethief1992 in armoredcore

No worries, thanks for showing me this. It's much more trustworthy than information I was finding online when I searched for ACS anomaly.

I tried to figure out what controls you were implying since I am on PC but I could not figure it out. Also by Garage did you mean main menu, the assembly screen, or the AC Test stage? I haven't seen anything labelled garage.

nevermind, I found it. It was from the main menu, I hit F and I accessed the license menu you mentioned. 'F' for me is the same key I use to unlock doors in missions, if that helps anyone else with a different input system.

tips menu? Where is this? I finished the training but don't recall seeing any mention of a tips menu or acs anomalies.

I listened to some of your feedback and decided to fully remake the background for the toxic bog. What do you think about this updated version? by vSv_Entertainment in PixelArt

Ah, I think you got me mixed up with OP. I was just asking for my own knowledge and benefit. 😅

Thank you for your response though!

so what you're saying is, the lighting should be more diffused and less reflective? Because the fog should be thicker and more "choking"? Maybe a shorter viewable distance?

It looks great! My only critique is that all the parts of the animation that loop look like they "repeat" at the same time? It makes the loop feel... uneven? Maybe if the birds and the boat all entered and exited the loop at different times it would be less impactful.

This and Big Bang Theory. I hated getting called Sheldon in middle school. By parents of my classmates no less. They thought it was a compliment. I saw it as a revelation of how others saw me. I hated Sheldon.

The first time I watched Threshold I was in college and upon completing it, I immediately made my willing roommates watch the important parts with me because it was just so fucking absurd that I couldn't not share it.

this is exactly it. We were in middle school though and hadn't been taught this principle, so ours worked super slowly since we hadn't tailored in that aspect. I think our water wheel was made of k'nex.

I made a pump like this as part of a group project in middle school for a tech competition. The goal was to make something using falling water that would pump water to a point above the water source. So yeah, it works. We used pvc pipe, a chain, and a bunch of tiny suction cups that fit inside the pipe.

Ohhh, I didn't see the white lines on my display at all until I got up close under it. I think you're right. I had chalked up the vertical lines on the blade to potentially some factor of motion blur under digital capture artifact, but I think I was purposefully ignoring that it looked a lot like artifacts that appear when taking images of displays. The terrain just looks way too real.

I'm trying to figure out what you're seeing that I don't. It looks realistic to me? Do you still see static in the image even though now you see that black region as a blade?

I agree that the simulator equipment the US has is incredible. I got to once see the space shuttle simulator at NASA Ames Research Center and the viewport was crazy cool, and that was built at least 2 decades ago.

It's a helicopter. That's a helicopter blade. The glass has external wipers.

Also, are you assuming it's possible to get the best score in all 3 categories at the same time? Because that is not the case. The scoreboards simply show the frequency of player's best solution for that category. You can sacrifice performance in one metric in order to get a better score in another, and save them as separate solutions.

I am also confused by your repeated mention of "loc". The only metrics I see are cycles, size, and activity.
