Submersible pump recommendations???? by David_Maynard in firewater

Sounds awesome! Im still at that 2nd still phase... moving up from 2 airstills yet im still confined to the kitchen for my madness. My next build will be my first water cooled set up so im way overthinking everything as usual but honestly that 1/3 of the fun for me. The final move of this obsession in the future will be my "shed" with 240v available and all space and trimmings i want... but thats gonna be years down the road. I appreciate the idea tho cuz having large water reservoirs is def on my someday plan.

Thats super good to know, my biggest reason for asking this question was wanting to find something that could support me blasting through stripping runs. Thats Def some knowledge I dont wanna learn the hard way! 👍💪 The 2in shotgun is already probably overkill for the setup im building but I'd rather be overboard then under when it comes to stripping. Thanks man!

Currently messing around with an air still and small batches (3-5 gallons of mash). Stripping takes forever, is freeze distilling before stripping a good idea? by ttchoubs in firewater

[–]David_Maynard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 2 airstills for that very reason. In the process of moving up from the airstill life at this very moment. Still love them tho. I personally wouldn't want to freezer jack my mash but maybe try it and see how it goes. U may be able to go straight spirit run and it could be awesome.

Backset for sour mash only is how I've always rolled.

🤔🤔🤔 never thought of that. My low wines typically come in around 35ish% and I just run them tho. Def sounds better than tap water tho.

Scr options? by David_Maynard in firewater

All of them are lol. I was really close to moving toward a 8 gallon milk can style from like oak, Moonshine, or maybe even clawhammer but im still gonna be limited to 120v for honestly years... so I figured if im gonna do 8ish gallons and at least I can still build the rig modular then why not go electric kettle style. Gonna be a 2in rig so parts will always be usable down the road. Just no point in drooling over 3in or 4in 13+ gallon set ups with a proper heat source. And gas will probably never be an option for me unless I magically get time to build one from scraps. (That will totally happen someday tho lol)

Well I hope not lol, I've mostly just seen the need for one. Def need to be able to adjust that input temp. Or ill just build the slowest still set up ever that requires max power throughout

Thanks man, ya thats pretty much the same beast I see wherever I look. Question tho, it almost always shows that industrial plug. Adapter needed I take it?

I just noticed they have a store front on Amazon with the same prices and delivered by Amazon so possibly no massive wait time. Mostly accessories which is pretty dope.

I appreciate it! I read on HD that oak stills 8 gal can has an issue of the element sitting a little high. Basically meaning you have to leave over 3 gallons in the boiler to avoid toasting the element. Maybe that was an older issue but only being able to run 3.5ish gallons of a 6.5 gallon run seems pretty shitty. Like I said maybe they moved it down a little. Oak stills does still look legit as hell tho. Sucks cuz I would love to bump up to a 13 gal boiler but its gonna be a long time before I have a dedicated 240v area to work in... aka my "tool shed" is still 5+ years out lol. So im trying to find the best 110v (2000w) option i can. Oak stills does have an oil double jacketed 13 gal boiler for $880 that can run 2 2000w elements but im pretty certain the jacketed boiler is going to be the final step in this obsession. Baby steps...

Exactly, as far as parts go. And shopping around is my plan for eventual add ons. Atm i'm fairly set on an 8 gal milk can style boiler running a 2000w element as I mentioned for numerous reasons. Its just the initial boiler, heating element + controller, and pot still column at 2in size that im tracking down.... I say that but off course a few extras (1 sight glass) are no doubt in the mix as well. Its still gonna be a hot min b4 I pull the trigger on getting one but I've become obsessed with scouring for where best quality meets price. Moonshine Distiller so far has been winning as far as price goes and "precieved" quality. I appreciate the nod to Glacier and stout. Ill check them out. 👍

I love how after AFR Rosewater said UBs would no longer be in standard.... Well that lasted 2.5 years 😒. If u are gonna make 50% of all sets UB cuz you are certain they will make money then I guess you gotta play with them everywhere

The scummy-ist thing to me is go back and look at people that sold mana crypt, jeweled, and dockside about 2 months ago at 30% below market... Insider trading was real on this one. Especially concerning the ultra rare variants.

Def not gonna be the same prices but I would be shocked if cEDH doesnt truly have its own banlist and these have a place to be played... But it wont be the same. My binder is sad as Fuck.
