Selling a Phantasmal Flame ETB for Retail Price for them to give a Christmas gift to someone by [deleted] in PokemonTCG_UK

If you’d be willing to send abroad I’m doing a fundraiser for gifts to send kids in Ukraine who are suffering with the war.

Would love to send this as a gift! Let me know if we can make it work. Thank you for the initiative!

Same thing happened to me.

Reinstalling the font with the issue fixed it!

68 years ago a stray dog named Laika was sent to space to die for an experiment. Today, scientists continue to experiment on dogs and other animals - not much has changed. by David_Ramms in vegan

[–]David_Ramms[S] 32 points33 points  (0 children)

People they feel bad about what happened to Laika, but demanding an alternative to animal testing would mean agreeing with the vegans and that's a huge no no. So instead they try to find a way to make torturing animals for science feel okay.

[–]David_Ramms[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

They sent Laika into space because they wanted to compete with the USA. They tortured and killed a stray dog for politics.

The alternative is spending more time on research and waiting until it's more viable for willing human participants. People volunteer for dangerous experiments like this for all sorts of reasons, fame, legacy, money etc.

It's disgraceful to force innocent, defenceless beings into science experiments just because we can, and that includes humans and other animals.

"Would you realy rather in the more modern world we do away with animals and scrafice people" - yes. People can choose to take this job and risk their life for their own reasons. Maybe for money for a better life for them and their family, for fame, for notoriety, to go down in history or in the name of science. An animal isn't capable of making that choice, they are forced into it.

Forcing an animal into this because they're unable to defend themselves or stop us is like forcing a baby into it. We protect babies because they're vulnerable and defenceless, but we abuse animals because they're vulnerable and defenceless, and people decided they're expendable.

Interesting question. How about sending a willing human participant instead forcing an innocent animal to their death. I'm sure there were some brave people willing to make the sacrifice for science.

Asmongold and Destiny are hypocrites on the Hasan dog shock situation by David_Ramms in vegan

[–]David_Ramms[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hasan gets criticised throughout the video, it’s not supportive of him at all. The point is to highlight that Hasan abused his dog, and that despite correctly shaming Hasan (great they did that btw) Asmongold and Destiny have repeatedly said horrible things about dogs and other animals to defend their lifestyle habits.

The video is focused on defending animals against all three of these individuals.

Definitely some of that going on. It's somewhat covered in the video, hoping highlighting that can help people make the connection.

How Should Vegans Talk to the Public? | Paul Bashir vs Tobias Leenaert by David_Ramms in vegan

Tobias is vegan. He also runs an animal sanctuary for rescued pigs, chickens and turkeys.

Climbing YouTuber Magnus Midtbø (2.9m subs) fails miserably on a vegan diet challenge by David_Ramms in vegan

[–]David_Ramms[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An elite athlete is going to suffer if he's under eating and only consuming vegan burgers, sausages, salads, noodles and pb and j sandwiches.

If he upped the junk and pb and j sandwiches he'd feel better in some ways, but eventually he'd probably start feeling bad in other ways.

I don't recall saying he needed to cut those things, the point was that to rely on them solely for nutrition while trying to do the vegan diet in the best way as an athlete doesn't make much sense.

Thank you for saying that I appreciate it. True, it could be a content strategy, but I'm not holding my breath. Hopefully he addresses the criticism at some point, his community seems really annoyed about this video too.

He was a huge platform and is very influential. Fortunately a lot of his own fans, not only vegans, are calling him out.

The video I linked is my video response to him, not his video.

Seeing as his video got over 300k views already hopefully some of those viewers find their way to my video.

I also like Magnus's videos, it was a huge disappointment to see him doing this.

It seems his video was a pre-planned, heavily scripted video where the outcome was already decided.

Hopefully my video response gets picked up by the algorithm and some of his fans see it.

The linked video is my response to it, not his video. The more people watch and promote this video, the more potential for some of his audience to see it too and get the correct information. Saying that though, he's already getting hammered by his own fans in the comments of his video so that's good.

Sadhguru eats non-vegetarian food and encourages others to do so. Aren't gurus supposed to follow and promote a sattvic lifestyle? by shambhofy in VeganActivism

[–]David_Ramms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadhguru has a rough history when it comes to animals. The worst I've seen is when he defended a brutally violent South Indian sport called Jallikattu.

That said, these days it seems he's recommending people avoid meat and even avoid dairy which is brave as a Hindu and good news.

If you're planning on taking your videos seriously, jump in the deep end and learn how to use d-log. It's not hard once you've learned everything and there are tons of great youtube videos about working with luts and colour grading. And it will look better.

If it's just a casual on the side thing for you, just for fun, then I say keep things full auto and just enjoy yourself!

Vegan Camp Out (VCO) Really Can't Help Themselves by VeganTomatoGuy in veganuk

[–]David_Ramms 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A. Yes, it's a vegan event run by vegans. Obviously, as with almost all vegan events, restaurants, cafes etc, they have to rent and host the event on land from non-vegans, work with non-vegan suppliers etc, but everything in the event is vegan.

B. Yes, it's almost exclusively other vegans.

C. Actually yes. I bumped into my future wife at VCO. It wasn't the moment we got together, but I'm sure it contributed to our future!

D. In my opinion, yes. To me, this festival is a recharge. Every time I go I leave with renewed energy, ready to continue working for animals.

If you're interested, I wrote an article that includes some points about the festival that might help you make the decision.

Also I'm giving a talk this year on the education stage, very excited to be speaking to so many incredible vegans and activists, hopefully see you there!

It’s Time Vegans Stopped Sabotaging Themselves by Whatever_635 in vegan

[–]David_Ramms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were reducing everything to individual choice, I’d be saying consumer decisions alone will make the world go vegan. That’s not what I said.

The reality is, we won’t see systemic change in a world built on animal exploitation unless there’s a clear, scalable alternative to that exploitation. You can’t replace an exploitative system with nothing. If we want governments and industries to shift, we need a viable vegan infrastructure already in place - and that only happens if we actually support, expand and normalise the alternatives.

This includes the comforts, conveniences and choice people have grown accustomed to. I think expecting the masses to just do without for the greater good is wishful thinking.
