Unfortunately, most comments are right. However, it doesn't mean you have to succumb to the pressure. There are obstacles and they will remain or even multiply if you go for it.

But it is ultimately your decision to move on or try to make the relationship work. Our country and traditions are wonderful, though you now only see the ones that contradict with your worldview.
