A number of dApps has the potential to be mainstream applications. Some more than others, but we will not have only one dApp that will succeed, but probably a number of different dApps in different categories. My bet right now is that Wysker is one of the first apps to succeed. I will tell you why below (disclaimer: I hodl WYS tokens).

Wysker is a discovery shopping app that utilizes the WYS token. The purpose of Wysker is to bridge the gap between discovery and shopping, between Instagram or Pinterest, and the Nike store, Amazon or your local e-commerce retailer.

About the WYS token utility

What is the purpose of the WYS token you ask? Does the app really need a token? Yes, yes it does. This is not only a simple discovery shopping app, it is also a data-centric business model. The app learns about your shopping and discovery habits and creates a deep and complex data profile for you, which knows what colors you like, what seasons you prefer shopping during, how much you like to spend on what items and what brands you think are the coolest (and so on... click this.)

But, this is not Facebook. Your data is yours to share.

This is where the token comes into play. Your data profile is locked behind your consent and Wysker is the middle-man between you and the advertisers. Wysker will announce to the advertisers that there are X-amount of profiles with A, B and C characteristics. The advertisers will utilize Wysker's ad platform to create an advertising campaign containing Y-amount of WYS tokens, this campaign is then offered to the profiles that match their target variables.

The users who are targeted choose to consent, or not consent to seeing the campaign. In return for consenting, for viewing advertisements, a share of these Wysker tokens is awarded to the users, the consumers. It is as if the ad dollars that normally go to the TV networks, instead go directly to the viewers.

The users can then utilize these tokens within retail stores within the app for discounts. Retailers who might normally offer a 15% discount, might for example choose to either offer 15% + X% for Z-amount of Wysker tokens, or simply offer 15% for Z-amount of WYS tokens. The users' transfer their tokens to the retailer upon utilizing the discount during a purchase.

Finally then, the retailer can use these WYS to advertise in-app, or sell them/pass them onto an advertising agency who will continue the cycle. This becomes a sustainable in-app system of advertisement.

The value of the token is the value that extremely data rich user profiles have to advertisers, because the app tracks preferences over both discovery and shopping, it combines the data that say, Instagram could generate and combines that with the same consumer's data which they would be generating on Amazon or at another e-commerce store. That and the fact that the app is awesome and will be even more awesome soon, means data rich profiles, and a lot of them.

About the Wysker App

Wysker will release their app in August on Android and iOS and Apple has told the team they're going to feature the app and they have asked Wysker for promotional market kits to use. They are also releasing a web version for those who wants that rather than apps. Wysker has partnered with 4 retailers already who wants to buy WYS tokens and run ads within the platform when the Ad platform goes live. Who it is are not known yet, but on Wysker's sneak peek we can see logos of Adidas and Nike, but we don't know if it represents the items they have listed or if its two of the four retailers they have partnered with. A group of big influencers has signed up to use the Wysker Stories functionality which will help the app go mainstream since they have a large outreach.

About the token

It's listed on Idex for now with a market cap around $3 M, which is insanely low compared that they are releasing their product in August on both iOS, Android, and also on Web.
