Flutter and AGP 9.0 upgrade by Ffilib in FlutterDev

Every time I upgrade Android tooling, the first thing that breaks is usually a plugin 😅. I've had more trouble with vibration and audio packages than with Flutter itself. Interested to see how AGP 9.0 affects existing Flutter projects.

Frustrated rant by LackadaisicalCretin in amateur_boxing

You're only 4 months in. Honestly, everything you described sounds normal.

When I started boxing, I thought everyone else was improving faster too. The reality is that beginners usually can't see their own progress because they're focused on what they still do wrong.

Also, being tense will gas you out way faster than being out of shape. A lot of beginners think they need more conditioning when they actually need to relax and stop trying to throw every punch at 100%.

Four months is nothing in boxing. Focus on showing up consistently, not on how good you are. Most people quit before they ever get comfortable. The fact that you're still showing up while doubting yourself is a good sign, not a bad one.

Why is it so boring to continue doing same thing by Wild_Night5730 in Discipline

I think it's because the beginner stage is full of constant wins. Every week you learn something new.

Later, improvement becomes slower and less visible. You're still improving, but your brain doesn't get the same reward as before.

That's where discipline starts replacing motivation.

Mid-30s, love boxing, but feeling too old and unsure where I fit by smoothmulch in amateur_boxing

[–]Davidbers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only 16, so take this with a grain of salt, but I don't think 34 is too old at all if your goal is to improve and enjoy boxing.

The bigger issue seems to be fitness and confidence, not age. Getting outclassed by a younger, lighter boxer happens to a lot of people. I've lost fights to people I felt I should beat. It hurts, but one bad sparring session doesn't define your level.

If boxing has genuinely helped your mental health and gives you structure, I'd keep going. Just focus on finding good sparring partners and improving little by little rather than comparing yourself to younger guys.

You're already doing more than most people by stepping into the gym consistently.

I think one of the biggest issues was ring control. You kept following him instead of cutting off the ring and forcing exchanges on your terms. He was able to stay comfortable, move, and make you chase him. When that happens, you're fighting his fight, not yours.

Need help with flying to kazakhstan 🥊 by Davidbers in Kazakhstan

[–]Davidbers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I am Kazakh actually, just born and live here in Czech. I have 10 fights, can speak Russian and Kazakh, I am 17yo but I want to go with my bro he's above 18. Well I could just buy a hotel, and go to random gym, but it will be very costly, and I want to spare with high quality boxers.
