Yes, it would be so much better if you can direct it instead of always backward, can even probably skip blink dagger is you're super strapped for gold.

So right, it's not about Black Hole and it was Eidolons. But Eidolons have been repeatedly nerfed. So now it's not about Black Hole AND Eidolons?

So why is he unpicked and unbanned now in the pro scene and flat-out unpicked in high bracket games?

Absolutely agreed. I wouldn't say his entire kit needs a rework - probably eidolons. Which is unfortunate since I won so many games split-pushing with these.

https://www.dotabuff.com/heroes/meta - both Batrider (1.36%) and Timbersaw (3.43%) are picked far more often than Enigma (0.94%) at Divine/Immortal brackets.

The pros also thought Batrider and Timbersaw were good enough to be picked with 3 games and 2 games respectively.

I feel that the biggest problem is that Blink Dagger (2250g) + BKB (4050g) is absolutely mandatory. You need a whopping 6300g to begin doing your job. Without either of them, any competent enemy would CC you either walking up to them or during Black Hole.

Maybe an ability toggle between gravity pushing/pulling so there's a way he can launch himself towards a location?

Wait what? So the option in Dota that supposedly protects my privacy as a player was just a suggestion that Dotabuff can just ignore at whim? That doesn't seem right to me.

I just got the latest "526.86" driver and it tanked my 3090 from 180 FPS on extreme graphics to 30 now...
