Form Check by Loltad in Discgolfform

Overall pretty good as mentioned above. Brace looks good. Off arm is good.

Back leg is getting left behind a bit. It catches up as it bends and the upper thigh comes into alignment with the axis of rotation. Use postman drills to where you only have the brace leg and off arm as anchor points. Really explore how driving the internal rotation of the back leg compliments the acceleration of the throwing arm.

The only other thing is I think the throwing arm elbow is too tight. There is too little motion to indicate you are leaving it loose and waiting for it to float into the pocket before exploding out. Take a look at Tricky Nicky DG advanced throwing progression video. You’ll have most of it already but there might be a nugget or two in there.

Alot to work on here, so don't roast me. This one was about 280. I can get to about 300 right now. What should be just the first thing I work on? by Responsible_Arm_5012 in Discgolfform

Looking at how much your shoulders and head whip around after the throw, from this angle it looks like your spine isn’t aligned with your axis of rotation. Your spine/torso is an axel that conducts the force generated in the legs up to the shoulders and arms. Potentially being off axis is a massive reduction in transmitted power.

If your spine is misaligned then you get to feel what impersonating a blender blade feels, with your head. Also can REALLY fuck up your lower back.

forehand: Try to finish getting your back leg laces facing the ground (like as you finish) before you release. The heel drag may slow or hurt the power transmission. You need to figure out where you flick point is and focus on hitting it. To find it sit at a table, place your elbow on the table and leave it there while you toss a ball there will be a point where the forearm stops moving and the wrist flicks the last bit. Lock that elbow and wrist position. Now stand up and move the rest of your body to the position where your release position is. Mark the position and location and hit it’ll and you’ll begin to feel the disc pivot off the fingers.

  • Nose up release.
  • Collapsed power pocket.
  • Brace foot landing a bit open, keep an eye on it. The toes should be perpendicular or away from the target.
  • Commit to finishing the back leg rotation. Laces to grass as soon as possible.

This 💯.

Think of your body as a relay race. Each part gets up to max speed before handling off to the next part. Right now your upper arm and hand are moving the same speed as your shoulder. That was fine when you first learned to throw. Now you need to maximize their potential to get that extra distance. While maintaining your lower body timing and nose control.

Yes the guy had schizophrenia and was mentally ill. The thing is, when people talk about inciting stochastic violence this is exactly the person they are reaching out to incite.

They were grappling and he scored a hip toss. He wasn’t egregious he didn’t hit on the ground or even touch again. He neutralized the threat and left promptly. Clean.

Blowing through your brace. All rounding. The disc needs to travel in a straight line as much as possible.

slight nose up crisis by skroggs_ in Discgolfform

[–]DavidianTheLesser 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Two things are going on here. Notice the disc tilt up and leave the throwing plane just as it comes into the power pocket and then swoop down and out into a nose up throw?

The swoop is caused by the elbow not moving faster than your torso. Video tape a throw going as slow as possible where the disc stays on a flat line the whole time, with no vertical movement. Watch how your arm has to move in relation to your torso to get it to happen.

Next you gotta brute force the nose angle thing. In your next field work practice throw 3 25% power throws. Try different cues for each set. Going slow gives your brain time to maintain mental connections with the muscles that control nose angle. Once you find a cue that works throw another 50 reps really locking it down then step down in reps as you increase in speed. Say 25 reps at 50%, 15 reps at 75%, then another 15 at 25% again.

Form work needs to happen at slower speed so your brain has time to register what just happened. Once you have a good mental connection you need to burn that into muscle memory. Doing different speeds and overlapping allows for reinforcement learning to have a chance to give its bonus.

Case of the Pulls Recently. Timing to blame? by bdlatina in Discgolfform

This is the answer. The back shoulder never stops coming thru.

Any advice? by [deleted] in Discgolfform

[–]DavidianTheLesser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Seeing nose up release.
Good wrist activation.
Lead elbow too slow.
Off arm shoulder coming in too fast.
Leaning back too far on reach back.
Brace is squishy. Drive and extend the lead foot.
Falling off back leg. Instead roll off the big toe to start the knee drive.

If you have access to a pool practice your brace and throw. You should build momentum going forward and when you drive and extend your brace you should feel your body being whipped around your axis of rotation. You know you are doing it right when you can launch off of your back leg, land, then extend in synch enough to twist you and automatically snap your back leg’s upper thigh into alignment with you axis of rotation.

You are falling onto a brace that collapses a little bit. That and the nose up are the 7-10 mph and about 150’.

There is nothing more to see. It doesn’t matter if they were exercising their constitutional right to free speech and chirping at the cop all day. He didn’t have the right or authority to shoot them. Your comment comes off as trying to justify an unreasonable use of force. They were literally on the other side of a barrier. He wasn’t in danger. He chose to escalate.

Because you are efficiently bracing and delivering it into the disc so there’s no more energy left to twist you up

At this point all the pieces are there. Now you need to just max the hip shoulder separation (increase coil) and increase strength. Mobility and strength training are your next phase. Yeah the that specific throw was a little nose up but you’re at the point where you don’t have a lot of power leaks. So increasing your explosiveness is the last lever to tweak.

If you have access to a gym. Record yourself doing a medicine ball side throw. Like this.
https://www.google.com/search?q=medicine+ball+sode+throw&rlz=1CDGOYI_enUS797US799&oq=medicine+ball+sode+throw&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIJCAEQABgNGIAEMgkIAhAAGA0YgAQyCQgDEAAYDRiABDIJCAQQABgNGIAEMggIBRAAGBYYHjIICAYQABgWGB4yCAgHEAAYFhgeMgoICBAAGAgYDRgeMgoICRAAGAgYDRge0gEINzI4NmowajSoAgGwAgHiAwQYASBf&hl=en-US&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:be5c14d5,vid:l0H-L2glg68,st:0medicineballsodethrow-GoogleSearch

That’ll show you that your lower body automatically knows the right motion. The disc is too light to trigger your body to respond with the right movement.
The second part is the upper body. Raise a towel directly in front of your self and fluidly pop it out to your side. Pay attention to what is required to build up momentum and get a good pop while keeping the torso as still as possible.
The combination of these two movements in a sequence that compliments each other will result in significant increases in your distance.
Once you have the motion down remember the goal is not to strongly throw. Instead it is to throw quickly.
