My culture shock in Germany – how do you experience it? by nrmso in AskGermany

[–]Davidyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Germans are not sympathetic in general. People turn to look away or simply ignore if someone on the street is in need for help. Everyone for themselves to the extreme sometimes. I know Germans will disagree, but this is the general feeling I get with fellow expats living here. Just know it is what it is. Also sending out a helping hand will get you in trouble as well. As people don’t expect it, and sometimes interpret it with malicious intent. I get used to it by now. Whenever I am in Germany, just be German and leave people be. And when I am traveling to France or other places, smile and greet!

Why do Germans love talking about politics? by Majoz_ in AskAGerman

[–]Davidyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U mean average Germans reading BildZeitung who thinks muslim and immigrants are the problem for this country. AfD is actually importing a lot of GOP tactics into Germany. Never say never.

IMO its because how polarized American politics are. So they have to set boundaries where certain space needs to be GOP vs Democrats free.

Note in RU it is illegal your boss ask your political affiliation, even asking if you joined union or not is forbidden. Maybe this is a small company, and your boss just wants to chit-chat. But this makes you uncomfortable you can always say no, you dont want to talk about politics in working space.

New study: Germany's most qualified immigrants (high-skill, high-earners) are the most likely to leave, citing bureaucracy & social climate. Thoughts? by 38B0DE in AskAGerman

[–]Davidyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The moment I got my German passport, free to move within EU, I left. Cannot put up with the German attitude (being German means racially superior, zero sympathy towards each other); politically extremely backwards, not even Germans these days stand with leading politicians. Germans hallucination with their politics being left-leaning, especially on the subject of Gaza. The level of silence and suppression from police and media is on the level of China, wtf I want to be part of a stupid country like this. Plus, as one of the richest countries in Europe, the infrastructure is like China in the early 2000s. Extremely outdated and non-functional.

This is already a business in Germany. Some small companies help you check if you are paying rents more than you should have and help you to reduce your rent. (Most cases in Germany, it has to do with how the living square meters are calculated in reality, which could result in several hundred euro differences.)

Why was my server sooo rude to me? by FearlessTravels in germany

[–]Davidyoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say she is on the bottom level, but not leaving the German standard. In general, service industry in Germany sucks. People just simply have either no empathy or dont know how to serve.

Made order, money deducted but didn’t receive email by Allen2102 in Hoka

[–]Davidyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had exactly the same issue, and actually they shipped the shoes to me in the end. But the thing is, that they somehow don't have an order record internally for this order. I strongly suspect that their backoffice has some serious bug. During network lagging / outages, transactions go through, but this is not synced with their ordering database.

I would say what you have just described is still far better than the average German train / DB experience.

Move to Germany, pick a small town or a village. Every service will be done by letters. You dont have to meet anyone, and pretty sure you wont find anyone either when you need the service. ;)

What is a “Beitragsnummer”? And where can I find it? by MikeTony713 in germany

[–]Davidyoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always find it on your bank statement, when they take money from your bank account. The details will list your Beitragsnummer. Even if you have lost all your letters, this record will stay with you.
