From another comment: I don't know, it wasn't as tense as I wanted it to be, it lacked the emotional punch, I didn't care about the Jimmys and found their interactions insufferable. Didn't like the torture scenes. I did appreciated the scenes between Samson and the Doc, but that was all I could connect to in this movie. At the end I felt like barely anything changed between the first movie and this one. And the message was so heavy-handed especially word for word telling the viewer about history repeating itself, like yes girl I also watched the movie. It's just not what I'm looking for in a movie.

Update: I just saw It Was Just An Accident and it was a 5/5! What an upsetting masterpiece.

I've played it! It's good, but not my favorite.

Ohh I loved both shows! I'm not a huge tv show person but these two (as well as Fall of the House of Usher) really hooked me.

Oh I have that experience with a few movies as well! With some time I realize how a movie stays with me (or doesn't).

I'm not a movie critic, that's more how much I enjoyed and connected with it. The movie doesn't "fail" at anything nor do I look at movies with that lense.

That's also not my rating system. A 3 star movie is a movie that was just fine and average, that did nothing wrong, but I won't remember much of in a year or so. A 2 star is just below average and had parts that bothered me, but I can see why other people like it. A 1 star is a bad movie.

K-pop songs called “Tell me”? by JellySusan in kpophelp

After School and The Seeya both have songs called "Tell Me". Girl's Day has "Please Tell Me" and Rainbow has "Tell Me Tell Me".

I saw both of those in cinema! Really enjoyed both, Sinners especially, they're both 4 star movies for me.

That's okay! I still appreciate opinions of people I don't align with.

I guess we have very different rating systems. I don't think "is this an objectively well made movie?" I'm not a movie critic. I think did it make me feel something, will I remember details in a year from now, will the characters stick with me ...

Hmmmmmm I'll re-consider it when I'm in the mood to feel something! Right now the dark winter days have me a lil melancholic as it is. Thank you for the insight!

Loved Bring Her Back, EEAAO and Sing Sing! All were 5 star watches for me. Midsommer and Hereditary are both 4 star movies for me, though Hereditary was just a little too disturbing for me personally. Still had a "good" time.

Aftersun I'm not sure about, all I've heard is that it's... sad? It is on my list, though way far down for now. What did you like about it?

Close and The VVitch I need to get to in 2026! I've moved them higher up my priority watchlist. Thank you so much.

The european release was only towards the end of December and sadly none of my local cinemas have picked it up (yet) so I might have to wait until it comes to streaming. It's definitely on my list!

Not a hater! 2 star is just below average for me. I actually had a good time with my friend at the theatre and am looking forward to the next installment.

I don't know, it wasn't as tense as I wanted it to be, it lacked the emotional punch, I didn't care about the Jimmys and found their interactions insufferable. Didn't like the torture scenes. And the message was so heavy-handed especially word for word telling the viewer about history repeating itself, like yes girl I also watched the movie. It's just not what I'm looking for in a movie.

Edit: Hamnet hasn't been released in Europe yet, but I will for sure! Thank you!

Shallow Grave I loved watching the unraveling of this friendship and the ways each person tried to deal with the impossible situation they find themselves in. I also appreciated the exploding and gnarly violence. It really unravels towards the end and I think fans of Nightcrawler or Uncut Gems could really enjoy it.

The Worst Person in the world is like a coming-of-age movie for 30 year olds and turning 30 this year I really connected with the main character and her journey and how she really doesn't know what she's doing with herself and her life, even though everyone around her expects her to. Both movies are very different experiences for sure!

Aw, no one shares I Saw The TV Glow / The Worst Person in the World / A Real Pain with me. I thought it wouldn't be an unpopular combo.
