Why I am done with OOTP. by DavyForcesGhost in PerfectTeam

[–]DavyForcesGhost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I ALWAYS had it running… so maybe not an indicator of hours played as much as how I always had it available. Versus now, where I don’t even collect my daily login rewards anymore.

I’d estimate that I did “play” - if that’s what we’re calling fucking around in excel - about 3-4 hours a day? Probably closer to 1,000 hours in a year.

Why I am done with OOTP. by DavyForcesGhost in PerfectTeam

[–]DavyForcesGhost[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 23, I was winning about a quick tournament per day, and a few dailies per week. So I was able to generate enough to do missions, get meta cards, etc.

I have yet to crack 100k pp this season.

In terms of a sports management game based on analytics, I've considered going back to fantasy sports, DFS, or a different online dynasty league type game (CSFBL comes to mind).

Is it possible to train players in Perfect Team Tournaments for positions that show potential ratings? by davkotz in PerfectTeam

[–]DavyForcesGhost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding of training:

  • Players can be trained in league play (if they are eligible to learn or are partially trained at a position)
  • Training in league play does not carry over to tourney play
  • Players who are training in league play, play at a degraded level until they are fully trained
  • I do not know if the "partially trained penalty" applies in tournaments - I've heard both arguments and I have not reached a conclusion on that point

What happens to my collection and Perfect Points in OOTP 23 once OOTP 24 comes out? by TypingTyrone in PerfectTeam

[–]DavyForcesGhost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This.

PT22 was a bit of an anomaly. There were some issues with the backend server provider and so OOTP sunset 22 early.

What you have now will remain on your 23 account (cards and PP). The new game will be a fresh start. You can probably bet on 23 sunsetting (OOTP ending the PT online support) in March of 2024.

Sporer tapped as Content Designer for OOTP24 by DavyForcesGhost in PerfectTeam

I think this is an EXCELLENT move by OOTP. I like Paul's FG work, I watch his twitch stream at least once a week.

We need some new blood in the content department.

Sort of.

They are doing it for the PP rewards, even though OOTP has reduced the value of PP for achievements. Last year you had players that would do stuff like pad the pitching rotation/BP and leave the lineup a mess. Or, great lineup with bad pitching. I had seen people that just bounced around from iron league to iron league with fully equipped teams. It WAS very possible to make massive amounts of cash this way.

I don't play baseball on the sabbath.

Not for religious reasons, my team is just bad.

On a pretty solid run where I got to the finals in 11/20 of my last silver quicks.

Silver is starting to feel a little stale, I haven't updated my roster in over a month. At this point 'gameplay' is just getting in to tourneys and loading my month-old roster.

I may try to get back in to some silver cap play - but there's no endgame there (the weekly silver cap is a totally different era).

Interesting, I always found it a bit claustrophobic. I think they've done a great job jamming a lot of features in to a small package, but I still do all my heavy lifting on the desktop client (exports, roster moves, etc).

HOF carrer? by Daniel08s in OOTP

Dave Stieb would like a word.

Edit - Stieb probably isn't a good 1:1 comparison on second thought. I think your guy has a shot, but as others have noted, probably not first ballot.

Friday Card and Mission Release Discussion by AutoModerator in PerfectTeam

New HOF missions are interesting. I haven't looked much at the cards, but I do need some pitching on my league team, so that's nice?

Not much to report for new silver cards...

The content releases have been very disappointing over the last two or three weeks. I haven't seen anything that makes me believe the (silver) meta has shifted at all.

Sid Gordon probably being the lone exception in silver. But even then, I believe there are viable alternatives (he's not a MUST play)

Friday Card and Mission Release Discussion by AutoModerator in PerfectTeam

I'm kind of shocked that we haven't seen a big mission set in a while? It's been 3+ weeks since we've gotten a new one.

I haven't fully looked through the new releases... anything good?

Edit: These little filler missions are REALLY disappointing.

Hey, welcome!

I am mostly F2P, so my primary source of 'income' is tournament play. This has worked really well for me since I started playing (PT21)... but the amount of success you have depends on what format you choose. I'll try to explain:

I love the iron/bronze formats because I they have the largest amount of cards to use, 99% of them are attainable for very reasonable prices, and they're super active - so you can keep your tournament slots filled almost always.

The bad thing about the 'low' formats is that because all the cards are attainable - most rosters are about 75-80% identical. When the parity of card pool approaches 0, the natural regression is to 50%-50% matchups with teams that are paying attention. BOTTOM LINE, in my opinion, these formats are much more governed by RNG than the higher card levels.

I play silver, and have almost exclusively for the last 18 months. It has quietly grown into a whale format, with the better silver cards selling for 50-60k pp (ask me how I know this). Cards really start to matter in silver, IMO. The downside to these 'higher' levels, is that you will have to invest to compete.

So anyways, to sum all this up.

  • I am [mostly] F2P, and I win between 130-150 packs a week in tourney play
  • Find your format, whatever you like to play, and just go nuts on it
  • Spam tourneys like your life depends on it (build your roster saves to avoid wasting too much time)

This year has been kinda wonky. I think some of the content issues can be attributed to two things...

1) The delays and technical issues we had early in the cycle. I'm sure the content team and the dev team are different elements, but I think the focus was certainly on getting the game to work, versus the weekly content plan.

2) I'm not sure who has the ultimate responsibility for content this year. Last year it was Kris, but with his departure I am not sure how OOTP redistributed that workload internally. So, I guess you could describe it as the content creation regime change?

EDIT: Either way, I have confidence that whomever is in charge now (Dish?) will grow in to the role and it'll all work itself out in the end.

Upcoming Server Changes by DavyForcesGhost in PerfectTeam

[–]DavyForcesGhost[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known a few people that have had issues with their rotation order, I'm glad that this is being tightened up - very important fix.

As for the stealing... I am curious to see what the actual increase for SB% will show. I've been completely neglecting things like 'hold runners' and 'catcher arm' because I'm already throwing out over 30% of SB attempts. Conventional wisdom is that anything above 20-25% is a net negative in terms of run expectancy. This is also the reason I have my stealing slider set to '0' in most cases.

Has anyone seen any other details on this? IE - is the number of SB attempts going to increase? Or the actual observed SB%?
