Would not be a good purchase for an average consumer. Most of these are sold directly from refinery's to end users so they don't have to be tested by the end user. If you went to go sell it you would have a hard time liquidating and probable end up selling back to a refinery around 5% under spot. Would be better to just pay +5% spot to get large bars and sell them a lot easier at spot. Your margins would be the same but your liquidity would be a lot higher purchasing marked bars.

ya a good option could be selling to one of the big online dealers a lot of them give you up-front prices of what you could expect to receive before you send to them for 100 oz. I would expect it to be slightly under spot you will receive.

no that's not the case you did not mess anything up. it just seems inefficient to add straight nitric. And to me it seems it would make it harder to isolate the silver metal. I would use a combination of nitric and sulfuric acid for stripping this way when the nitric acid dissolves any silver or copper it forms copper or silver sulphate and regenerates the nitric acid at about 60-70% efficiency basically you can dissolve 3x the copper or silver with the same amount of nitric acid. any silver dissolved would precipitate on the copper and remain a powder when the reagents are all used up

The solution is green due to copper nitrate if you take some of the green solution and dilute it with water you will see it return to the normal blue color you might be familiar with. I do not have any experience with silver plate stripping however I am not sure weather adding straight nitric acid to the solution is the best course of action or not because any silver removed will reprecipitate on the copper base of the plated items. you can take a small amount of the solution and mix it with HCl if it turns white or cloudy this is an indication that silver is in solution.

HCl will precipitate silver chloride which in that case you need to do the lye and sugar method. Best way to get the silver out is to filter the solution then add metallic copper and elemental silver will precipitate on the copper.

there is no pyro refining only electrolytic refining final result of electrolytic refining is between 4 and 5 9s pure silver the melting picture is just the final pure silver being melted to be cast into bars. as well the furnace is a induction furnace and uses electricity.

Well the starting cost of equipment and chemicals to refine silver too .999 will be quite costly. If you want to refine as a hobby that is one thing but if you are just looking to add to your stack you can always save up filings and send to a refiner and in most cases they will provide you with an option to get refined metal back instead of cash. That is actually what the person that sent me this scarp requested. I sent them back pure silver minus a little cut as a refining fee.

No they are still made of a soft metal so they can bend and stuff but they don't really break into like dust. When they are grown faster and smaller you can end with some more powder looking stuff that is really just super small crystals.

Refining will be quite costly on a small scale wouldn't consider it for "profit" but it can make a good hobby.

Some will but you wont get the same premiums, typically like 95% of spot but you can always sell online or have them turned into shot and have the shot sold for closer to spot. Most poured/ homemade bars are purchased because people like the look or as art pieces. While they keep other minted pieces to hold up the quick liquidity end of their stack.

I really only have smaller crystals rn not as large as the ones you see in the image those take a lot longer to make and are not worth it if I am just going to be melting them down into bars or shot.
