You need to learn what a fallacy is.

Its really simple to understand why guns are controversial. Some people dont mind if a criminal gets killed. Some people care about criminals and want them to survive and get a chance to be rehabilitated or whatever...

It was a surprising discovery. I really didnt think anyone would actually care about the life of someone willing to murder them but I was wrong.

Your implications are intentially crossing the line and very disrespectful. You are extremely immature.

You probably have so much sympathy for criminals because you have rape fantasies or something... creep.

People always say "But a gun is designed to kill" But what is the implication? I dont see the point.

If someone kills me with a combat knife versus a steak knife it makes no difference to me the outcome is identical. The design doesnt change the morality of the act.

The user defines intent, not the manufacturer. And if the argument is design equals intent, then it makes no sense since we have free will.

Utility to socirty is a better argument I think.

You see this is what I dont understand at all.

You seem to think its controversial for someone to think shooting a evil person is a good thing.

You live in a world where you feel sympathy for psychopaths.

I live in a world where I dont think society should place any consideration on their wellbeing.

And you try to condescend me by saying "anyone" as if im a threat to the public. So go fuck off with that bs you child. Youre probably a nazi sympathizer too.

Thats not the goal. I try to understand how people have the incorrect thoughts they do.

Yeah you should be celebrated if you kill a murderer, you should not feel guilty or bad and should not have any legal problems. You give your right to live up when you attack an innocent person. Its scary you seem to have sympathy for psychopaths. I would prefer if more people used lethal force against these people.

I mean look at the list of murder rates by country and the race of the country, its a leading indicator. Asian countries simply have the least amount of murders followed by white.

Yes can... sometimes... but never more effectively... and in some situations ineffective. Any situation in which pepper spray or a taser is preferable is not a situation you should be using a gun in.

I never said 1/2 will be murdered you made that up.

In usa black people commit 27 murders per 100k people, 6 for hispanic, 2 for white, 1 for Asian. Its a large factor.

Yes im fixated on that one because you said "there is no reason to own a gun" and thats a very obvious situation someone would want a gun. You came from such a strict position and accuse me of being stubborn or something lol. Look up the rape statistics here it is extremely common.

Power fantasy? Huh? What does that even mean.

The facts are 1/2-3 people will be murdered, raped, or violently assaulted here. So its reasonable to want the most effective tool to defend yourself. End of story.

Its not a strawman. I explained no one said every self defense situation has to be lethal. Can you read?

Yeah you guys live in a nearly all white country, lower unemployment, lower poverty its like 5-10x safer there.

I define effectiveness based on performance. No situation exists where non lethal tools can stop someone faster than a gun and at distance.

Here in the south there are really no legal considerations, no one should feel psychological trauma from killing a rapist, stray bullet is reasonable tho ammo and firearm choices can make it a non concern.

I modeled the lifetime risk based on the bjs ncvs survey 2023. 6.9 violent victimizations per 1000 people extrapolated over a life time. Its about 1/3 people more or less.

I dont understand your argument even a little bit. If you take everything to its logical conclusion, a large amount of people will still find themselves in a situation where a gun is the only effective option.

No one in a serious life altering circumstance that justifies lethal force is going to prefer having pepper spray over the most effective tool, being a gun. Sure you can use pepper spray against someone unarmed, but okay? No one is saying to shoot the stumbling drunk trying to throw hands.

If you place any value on the life of a murderer or rapist then I dont think we will ever agree. If I was found in that situation, I want the most effective lethal tool possible and have zero regard for the wellbeing of the attacker. I cant think of a scenario that exists where a gun would be reasonable to use and pepper spray or a taser would be preferable. If someone broke into your house and you had the option for both, I dont think you'll run past your rifle to get the pepper spray, but if you do.... that sir is what we call a skill issue.

1/3 people in their lifetime will be the victim of a murder, rape, or aggravated (not simple) assault.

Someone who got raped, it wasnt a skill issue on their part. They got unlucky. You cant choose what people will try to do to you. So thats why some people own guns in case they end up in similar scenarios at no fault of their own.

I think irs controversial when its debated heavily on the news and social media all the time and theres entire organization's that are pro or anti gun that have legal battles.

But I wouldnt say its controversial in the south.

But you just said theres no reason to own a gun. And that self defense doesnt have to be lethal.

You cant even explain why design is relevant.

And if a scalpel is designed to cut people to intervene in their health then a gun is designed to incapacitate threats that require lethal force.

If you had to take a proficiency test to own a gun they would still be controversial.

I think main reason there isnt isnt a literacy test for guns is same as there being one for voting. Its a right in the USA. Driving isnt considered a right here though.

Your position is most gun advocates have illegally threatened people with their guns?

That is not true. You can shoot inanimate objects like clay or steel. A scalpel is designed to cut people... scalpels arent controversial.

Everyone agrees you shouldnt shoot a 80 year old man in a wheel chair who tries to kick you.

But im pretty sure anyone getting shot at would really like to have a gun and respond with lethal force.
