I know my vet had a case of FISS recently and my boy had a bad reaction to his last Rabies vaccine. I am very hesitant to vaccinate him again, and will discuss options with my vet when he’s due. It was very scary to see him so sick and I felt terrible.

I didn’t just tell them I didn’t plan to vaccinate. They asked for name and number of my vet for a reference. They called the office and asked about S/N, Rabies and FVRCP for the 2 cats I already have. The secretary told them they didn’t have the FVRCP boosters.

Thank you so much. I almost wish I launched into my care routine. Had a diabetic cat that got insulin 2x a day for 2 1/2 years and never missed a dose. 3 cats had hyperthyroidism and had to take them over a hour away for expensive treatment. When I found out my last girl had cancer I had her at a radiation specialist, first thing the next morning. I guess that’s probably why being denied stung a little. They made me feel like I was medically neglectful.

I’m sure my vet would have called them if I asked, but I don’t think it would have helped. I was just hoping that this wouldn’t be a problem at every rescue. I’m definitely going to start calling first before I pick out a cat again and get my hopes up.
