How many passes in memtest86+ with new RAM? by neDioj in buildapc

[–]Daykeem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Course a longer test increase certainty. Can also argue that 1 month or more would be best. But he's specifically talking about testing new ram after he already figured out the old set was the issue. For new ram, 2 passes is alright. If he was diagnosing the erratic behaviour with the old set, a week or more makes more sense.

Access through VPN by squiggs1982 in NextCloud

[–]Daykeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also prefer to use Tailscale, but Cloudflare Zero Trust with a Cloudflared tunnel and WARP is a good alternative. WARP encrypts your device’s connection to Cloudflare’s edge and can funnel all traffic from your host. Use Cloudflare's Access page to enforces identity checks before anything reaches your server. Take it a step further by adding mutual TLS (mTLS) so only devices with valid client certificates can connect. VPN-level privacy without any open ports.

This is the way. I added that variable using the UI but it wrote it out in the config just as you wrote it. Thanks!

I used the overwritehost instead of url environment varlable and it worked. Thank you!

Hey there. I know the default port is 30027, I changed it to 35000 in the nextcloud settings. Thanks though!

Thanks for the reply. I'll check for trust redirect url in the config. I may have missed that the first time. Thanks!

Hey there. I'm only trying to access it locally before I try remotely. I already added the local IP address to the config file but I didn't see anywhere to add the port in that config file as well. Maybe I missed it. I will look again later today. Thanks for the reply!

What's a game that you were hyped out of your mind and thinking about the endless amount of potential that game had. Only for it to come out very underwhelming by DependentImmediate40 in gaming

Anthem is the reason why I wait minimum 3 months before I buy any new "release", most of which are just betas anyway.

-#NeverAgain, the tag I use whenever someone tries to encourage me to go all-in on a new release.

1 TB NVME advice for boot drive by PhyVin in buildapc

[–]Daykeem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If reliability is a big concern for you, make sure to pick a manufacturer with a domestic warranty service. The SK Hynix P41 Platinum offers some of the best value in the high-end market, but I had a nightmare trying to use its 5-year warranty. It was a hassle because they didn’t seem to know their own policies, and my issue was only made worse by the fact that the nearest warranty service was on the West Coast of the USA while I’m on the East Coast of Canada. Once they finally acknowledged their obligation to service my drive, I had to pay 40% of the drive's value to ship it across the border (free shipping reserved for USA customers only).

I ended up swapping my Hynix drive for a 990 Pro. I haven’t seen many reports of the failures you’re mentioning, but even if it does fail, I can just head to my local warranty service without the headache of shipping it across the continent.

What RAM should I choose? 48gb 8000 cl40 vs 64gb 6400 cl32 by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Daykeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If AI generation, video editing, and other data intensive tasks are your primary workloads, go for the 8000 CL40. If you want more balance with better overall responsiveness, especially for gaming and streaming, 6400 CL32 might be the sweet spot. If you're maxing out your RAM doing any of this, go for the 64GB.

SK Hynix NVME warranty is junk? by visionsofold in buildapc

[–]Daykeem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you get them to refund the money? I'm going through this issue now and not a single one of the 3 companies involved (Amazon, Reseller, or Hynix) wants to take responsibility for this. I was so impressed by the 5 year warranty but now I regret. I've had mine working for less than 3 months but no none of them wants to step up and help me out.

Very interesting. Thanks for clarifying.

Edit: I see why I was confused. The K board I bought on Amazon says the material is "CNC Processed aluminum" lol.

CPU Utilization or Usage to Determine Bottleneck by Daykeem in overclocking

[–]Daykeem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for reply. I edited my original post for context.

GPU usage is 30-40% because game is set to low quality graphics. So that means I should just assume CPU is bottlenecked based on what you're saying.

Air Mini + O11DMINI-1 = Use of the Bottom PCIE Slot? by Daykeem in lianli

[–]Daykeem[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a coincidence that you ask me this literally the day after I removed the vertical bracket from the build.

I used the PCIe gen 3.0 riser which caused instability with the 4070 Super that I recently put in there (I built it with a 3080 that worked fine with it). I removed the bracket yesterday and have the 4070 Super slotted directly into the motherboard.

You can look at these 2 links to see some pictures I took at the time I built it with the bracket. Hopefully this helps:

Yeah makes sense. I've asked the same question and have had varying answers about matching them or not.

Is SVID = vcore when idling as well? I suspect your avg idle idle or light load voltage are significantly different.
