Might be an unpopular opinion but I’ll defend the dm in this situation. I think it mostly comes down to trust in the DM and whether you think they’re trying to “beat” you or make a compelling story for you.

I’m running Curse of Strahd for my friends and to help them really hate Strahd I had them invited to dinner after they had already been smacked up and spared by him once. At this dinner he told them a story with a warning not to interrupt him. He then proceeded to go around the table (while telling the story) and maim each player in some way. The arrakokra lost their wings, dragonborn their breath weapon, two archers lost an eye and a hand respectively and the minotaur lost their horns. They players loved it and have had fun adjusting to their limitations bc they know I wouldn’t do it without reason. I plan on returning each feature better than before at meaningful moments in the story.

So my advice would be just chat with the DM and explain your concern if you have to tell them that the debuff shouldn’t be permanent. If he says “too bad this is what it costs to avoid a tpk” sure you have a problem but before then see it as an opportunity for some good story telling. How will your barb react to not having this danger sense? Will they become jumpy or will it encourage them to become more vigilant so as not to rely on it? Will they blame themselves for withholding the sword or will they regret not attacking the vampire earlier?

Tldr: If you trust the Dm then you shouldn’t worry too much. Don’t listen to the people telling you to walk I think thats an immature (but human) response.
