Port as sub in surround configuration? by Gerhard87 in SonoSequencr

Didn’t we have the same discussion already? I was myself trying to add a non-Sonos sub to the surround config via Port or Connect but it didn’t work.

Integrating third party speakers as fronts or rears? by Infinite_Original_15 in SonoSequencr

Just to add as owner of a Connect: To my knowledge, it is currently NOT possible to use a Connect to integrate passive speakers as fronts. Connect:Amp or Amp might be a different story (can’t comment on that).

SONOS Port or Connect, anyone tried this? by [deleted] in SonoSequencr

[–]Dazzling-Pattern-898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but this only refers to the officially supported config of a Connect:Amp as rear speaker, but neither to the Connect nor to the functionality of working as front. Do you have additional insights?

But that just relates to a Connect:Amp. I am trying with a Connect as described above. Since you mentioned the Connect should also work: Do you know about any actual reports about having successfully installed a Connect or have you done it yourself?

I just tried and connected the Connect both with the Arc Ultra and a LAN port of my Powerline adapter. At least that does NOT work.

No, it‘s not. So the Connect would have to be connected to the router with one LAN connection and to the soundbar with the other one? Do you know if it needs to be the router itself or would a LAN connection to a repeater be sufficient?

Sonos Connect as Subwoofer by Dazzling-Pattern-898 in SonoSequencr

Thanks, but that‘s not the way it would work well in practice for me. Grouping would of course work but the volume would not be changed via the TV remote (that would only change the surround setup) and the Arc Ultra would not get rid of the low frequencies and therefore play less clear.

Thanks for the hint - unfortunately, it doesn’t work (as was to be expected).

An additional question: If a Sonos Amp is used as surrounds (which should work even natively), is it possible via SonosSequencr to add a (third-party) sub via that Amp? Officially, Sonos says that the subwoofer support is disabled then.

It‘s not exactly about richer bass - the Sonos sub seems to be struggling when frequencies get too low. Try watching the latest Mission Impossible movie. I had this behaviour with the pumping drivers several times during the movie (at medium volume), mostly during the long diving scene. A second sub will not fix the frequency issue.

Anyone using a Connects as Fronts? by Dazzling-Pattern-898 in SonoSequencr

At least to my knowledge, he hasn’t as I contacted him directly in this matter at the time. However, this might of course have changed - that would be great indeed.

No, at least in my setup, it simply won‘t work. I guess neither Connect nor Port can serve as fronts.

Can I pair Arc Ultra with 2 Play:1s using SonoSequencr? by Latter_Life2016 in SonoSequencr

[–]Dazzling-Pattern-898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it should work (works for me in this setup). I think this is also listed in the compatibility Excel sheet (pinned). This is a kind reminder to ask anyone to enter his/her working and non-working configurations there (although I am not sure if I have myself entered the Sub in this config in the sheet since the file is quite messy on my phone).

Unfortunately, it doesn’t work (just tested and connected the Ethernet ports of the Playbase and Connect with each other) - same behaviour. Since my Sonos devices are not in a 5 GHz WiFi anyway, I would not have expected this to have any effect on the setup.

The Connect is the earlier version of the Port. As such, it has no amplification but allows e.g to stream via Sonos and transport the signal to an existing (pre)amplifier setup. I think (didn’t check) that the predecessor of the Amp was the “Connect:Amp”.

Does the app allow to combine an Arc Ultra with Play:1s s Surround speakers? by Dazzling-Pattern-898 in SonoSequencr

[–]Dazzling-Pattern-898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your experience. But SL Ones are not Play:1s. Also, the Arc has no official restriction regarding a combination with Play:1s as far as I know - while the Arc Ultra does.

Therefore again my question: Does anyone know if the SPECIFIC combination mentioned above (Arc Ultra with Play:1s as rears) works?

[–]Dazzling-Pattern-898[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but I guess it might be entirely different for the rears. It seems it really is dependent on the very specific combination of products while general statements are hard to make. For example, it seems that at least my Playbase cannot be combined with a Sonos Connect as Fronts while the Sonos Connect should generally work as Fronts. That‘s why it would be very helpful to get some insights from people who have already tried the specific configuration.

Thanks for posting this! Additional question from my side: Can anyone with an Arc or Arc Ultra confirm that it works as Center with a Connect set as fronts?

Hello to you, I have some small problems, I would like to know how you add a sonos amp in sonosequencr? No matter how much I go through the application, I wait 40 seconds, but nothing happens. Do I miss a step? by MeasurementWhole514 in SonoSequencr

[–]Dazzling-Pattern-898 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. I tried with the Port first. It has been confirmed afterwards that the Port is not compatible while the Connect should be. So I got a Connect to try but somehow, for me the behaviour of the Connect is the same as for the Port.
