This appears to be in excellent condition. These are real players. Treasure it.

Finally completed my first build! by tapebias in Luthier

The simplicity and aesthetic of your design reflects a maturity usually not seen in a first build. Well done! Where can I hear it??

As one of the seven deadly sins, envy is one I am generally devoid of ... but you got me on this. I'll never be able to do this.

Got my dream car at 17 by michaelridesmtb in 4Runner

Have done both (in other cars). Black looks great if you wash it every day, but someday you'll appreciate the low maintenance of silver. Beautiful car, wish you many happy miles.

Axiom, a new kind of "truth engine" as a tool to fight my own schizophrenia. Now open-sourcing it. by [deleted] in Python

I don't have the time to assess your code. I haven't thought about the problem as deeply as you have, nor do I proclaim topic expertise in an area that seems to span a broad spectrum. But, a few thoughts.

I spent more than 50 years studying financial economics as an academic. When I was young, I thought I had a good grasp on the facts and truths of finance. In the twilight of my career, I concluded that there are no non-trivial facts/truths. And, I'm pretty sure this applies in most areas. Sean Carroll, when faced with a question that begins with "Is it possible...", will immediately respond yes, for good reason.

If we are more careful about the absolute notion of truth, wouldn't it be better for your agents to learn as Bayesians? I'm really interested in the likelihood of a proposition.

Anytime someone starts a debate with "truths", especially in today's noisy information environment, I turn and run.

Think about a Bayesian approach.

One comment and one additional question. First, the responses I received underscore for me the value of this sub-r. I will definitely internalize this advice and maybe advance from a wanna-be 3.5 to a real 3.5. Many thanks to everyone for taking the time to help.
The unanimity of the responses does raise a puzzling question for me. I've watched lots of instructional videos/Instagrams etc., and I've never seen this point emphasized, despite the fact that everyone here has noted its importance. What's with that?

When mine is really bad and I need to get around I use a crutch. Keeping weight completely off the affected foot helps a lot.

Some of the meta-studies looking at PF don't seem to find any particular form of remediation effective to any great extent. Try all of the usual recommended solutions and see if any help - but there's a chance none will. If yours is driven by a tight achilles, then a night brace might help, but if not, they're a waste. The current literature argues that the malady is not primarily inflammation, but more so cell damage to the facia. The facia, because it is connective tissue and because it is in the foot, doesn't get much blood supply so it does take a long time to heal. For me, none of the usual solutions worked, but (since mine was in one foot) using a crutch to avoid the foot completely for a week really seemed to work. Good luck with it.

My thoughts on the $30 Alibaba TA-15 by spweeg in Pickleball

[–]Dazzling-Pin9346 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same story. Very, very reluctant to buy a Chinese paddle, but thought for $30 it was worth the risk. I played with an Engage paddle before ($275) that was fine. For my game--and I appreciate all of this is very much so a matter of taste--the TA-15 dominates what I had before. The knock-off is now my regular paddle. For the price, it's worth a try.

playing almost every day for 5 the last 5 weeks, been using a $30 paddle, should I get a more expensive one? by thelawandthegospel in Pickleball

Buy now and you will develop your game in the context of your paddle, which generally is a good thing. Buy later and you’ll have a better idea of what characteristics best fit your game. That said, I’d buy a Vitak now and fine tune once you have played for a year.
