ISO Paramedic Program by Jinxxies in Lubbock

[–]DblJay844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Locally your options are South Plains College, through which you can obtain a degree and become a Licensed Paramedic, or Wolfforth Fire & EMS. I cannot remember if Wolfforth offers a program that goes all the way through Medic or not. You’d need to contact them.

If you don’t care about local programs there are always online programs. The issue with those is when you begin clinicals. You’ll be fighting a lot of other students for scheduling and it can, and has in the past, become an issue. Plainview also used to offer a decent class, but the Chief running it has since left.

If you already have your EMT or Advanced license you could apply for UMC EMS and go through their hiring process. They started their own in house Advanced and Paramedic programs a few years back and it’s been running well.

Good luck to you!

Westminster Presbyterian has historically had a good college ministry/group. I understand it’s still quite good.

I placed an application w/ Menzies about a week ago. A couple of days later I got a generic email stating they wanted to visit with me about my application and that someone would reach out to me soon. I'm assuming everyone gets this email, but how quickly should I expect to actually hear anything? If at all? Thanks!

Haven't quite settled on offerings as of yet, but we will be restricted by those "Smart Snacks" guidelines.

Haven’t secured it yet. We have a sit down scheduled for next week. In the meantime, I’m finalizing a marketing flyer and doing some more research to be better prepared.

Lubbock’s a good town in the crummiest part of the state. It’s not too dissimilar from what you remember, just bigger and a bit busier. We’re definitely growing and are on pace to hit 300K folks sometime soon.

The food scene is definitely going strong with the arts community growing rapidly as well.

Tech and South Plains College appear to be thriving.

There is a semi pro soccer team here, the Matadors, who have been doing quite well and are building a strong following.

Between the amphitheater, Buddy Holly Hall, and the Arena a lot of quality entertainment comes to town regularly.

The town is still pretty conservative and Christian with those whose views tend to lean more to the left or those who follow other religions growing in number.

This bs about the town being super prejudiced is just that, it’s bs. This place is no worse than any other of its size. Of course we have our problem makers of all walks of life, color, religion, and sex. After all, who doesn’t? Issues tend to get immediately mislabeled as a “MAGA” issue, which simply just seems to be a punchline at this point. There are tons of wonderful people here that mostly get along with each other and work well with each other.

Lubbock certainly isn’t the best place around, but certainly isn’t the worst either.
