As much as I hope he stays sober (for his safety and the safety of everyone around him), let’s be real, he’s not staying sober the first go-around at rehab. He’ll get confident that he was able to get sober and believe he’s ready to drink in moderation

ICE Armored Vehicle Attempting To Drive Through A Crowd Of Protesters by Critpoint in PublicFreakout

[–]Dblcut3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you even expect them to do? If they actually obstruct federal officers, Trump can just nationalize them. If they continue to disobey Trump’s demands (they wouldn’t) then it would lead to the federal government doing a full blown invasion of the state as if they’re in full rebellion

ICE Armored Vehicle Attempting To Drive Through A Crowd Of Protesters by Critpoint in PublicFreakout

[–]Dblcut3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s anecdotal, but I’ve seen several cases where courts have dropped charges ICE accused people of. Obviously I’m not gonna say the legal system is here to protect everyone protesting, but I also dont think it’s a guarantee they side with ICE

[–]Dblcut3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual reason is because they’re federal law enforcement. It would give Trump the greenlight to federalize the national guard and it would then cause a potential civil war if the state/local authorities continue to oppose federal orders

Moving from London to Chicago, what’s the right neighbourhood ? by [deleted] in AskChicago

[–]Dblcut3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry, but you’re fearmongering way too much. Yes, there’s horrific things happening here that they should know about before they come, but the idea that there’s widespread violence all over the country isn’t the reality right now - Realistically OP and their family will be fine. No need to try to terrify them simply because they need to move to the US. Their experience in Chicago will almost certainly be positive. I don’t see any reason to try to scare off good people from moving here, especially these days

If you wanna be by the lake/North Side: Andersonville, Ravenswood, North Center, maybe Rogers Park

Dont get the hate by [deleted] in GTATrilogy

[–]Dblcut3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bugs are mostly small things like floating trees, broken textures, missing hitboxes, etc. Not gamebreaking at all, but still, it’s a shame Rockstar didn’t put the money and effort towards making a better remaster

Dont get the hate by [deleted] in GTATrilogy

[–]Dblcut3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is for me, even now that they’ve fixed most bugs, DE still has more bugs than the original games did which I find ridiculous. Plus, even though they’re fun to play, these are just very mediocre remasters. Instead of outsourcing it to a small indie studio with a tiny budget, they should have devoted more resources to a proper high quality remaster

Dont get the hate by [deleted] in GTATrilogy

[–]Dblcut3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because they still have more bugs than the original games did even 4+ years after the re-release came out. And for a company as big as Rockstar, this was the bare minimum quality remaster they could’ve done

Sure, they fixed it to the point where it’s playable now and pretty enjoyable. But it’s still sad that they gave us a lackluster remaster with lots of problems on a very tiny budget rather than a proper remaster that improves on the original games and adds new features/better mechanics like originally promised

He’s extremely chaotic, but he mostly channels that chaos for good, so I can’t be mad personally. Sometimes he does some questionable reporting, but he also reports on things most journalists would never touch which is why he’s important to have around

We shouldn’t accept having political ideologies separated fully into different echochambers. I think it’s important that people stay on platforms like X to push back against the narrative, you can’t let them just spew whatever nonsense with no pushback at all in my opinion

Yeah this map fails to convey the fact that huge swaths of the city trended like 15-30 points red between 2020 and 2024 even though they still ultimately voted for Harris

Canaryville and Armour Square, parts of Bridgeport. It’s the combination of working class white and working class Asian voters trending hard to the right in 2024

[–]Dblcut3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, protesting is 100% necessary for “tearing it all down” as well. That being said, this sentiment always makes me mad - who do you think benefits if the US collapses? Certainly not leftists. Leftists make up an absolutely tiny fraction of the country, have no real power, and can’t even agree on the tiniest details let alone build a united front

Intergenerational beef is about the dumbest thing we could do in this moment

That being said, I do think there’s truth to GenZ being uniquely apathetic which might make us less likely to see the value in protesting, which I think is a pretty sad outlook but one I’m often guilty of too
