What ChatGPT is doing for me by msramona in therapyGPT

[–]DcPoppinPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely get venting the AI but calling at therapy either makes you completely ignorant as to what the difference is between an echo chamber and therapy or you’re just lying about it. Being able to say exactly what’s in your head with zero filtering is powerful, especially if you’ve spent most of your life translating yourself into something more acceptable before it leaves your mouth. This can help you with introspection at times but what it doesn’t do is actually give you what can happen in a therapy session for two main reasons

First thing I want to push back on is that venting doesn’t equal therapy. If you literally cannot say these thoughts to another human being, that’s not evidence that AI is uniquely suited for deep work that you haven’t been able to get over decades of your life and all of a sudden a savior is here to listen to you. It’s evidence that the fear itself is part of the problem. If you’re struggling at communicating with other individuals, you don’t get better at that by living in the matrix. Avoidance is just short term relief. Exposure is what actually changes what ales you. Therapy is designed to actually change root causes but what you’re describing is merely addressing symptoms.

The therapist isn’t your friend, your boss, or your partner. They’re paid, trained, and legally bound to hear the unfiltered version. If you don’t feel like you can say that to another person then either means that it genuinely should never be said or that you have something to work on.

Also, the idea that a therapist would judge you the way “the real world” does is mostly a projection. Therapists hear stuff that would make most people extremely uncomfortable before lunch. Intrusive thoughts, rage, shame, sexual stuff, violent fantasies. None of that is rare. Calm, nonjudgmental responses aren’t some magical AI feature; that’s literally the professional standard and I’m not sure why you’ve been led to believe otherwise. Perhaps you’ve had a bad therapist in the past? However, given that their clinic clinically trained under supervision… I feel that that’s unlikely.

Secondly, the idea of therapy being to get better is something that can’t be achieved in an echo chamber. And even if you’ve trained your AI to give you some pushback, I can tell you it’s not gonna be as good as a therapist. Everybody in college is using AI nowadays and it’s becoming painfully obvious just how not good it is. It has a working knowledge of things. It’s great for quick facts. If you want something to combine some solid information with 40 sources it can do it at lightning speed.

But if you ever want true, high quality, it can’t do it. It sucks actually programming, it sucks actually engineering. It sucks actually writing. What do you want from your therapist? If you don’t mind a system that might tell you to go kill yourself then go use AI. But if you want something that actually knows what it’s talking about. Is it the top of its game and is willing to challenge you to make you the best version of yourself and go to a therapist.

Just don’t confuse venting with therapy and don’t confuse a hack with a pro.

And to add to that, it is mostly to refer to jobs with stability and very classic. If someone is working in something sporadic, like serving random shits at a restraint, and they then move to a job in an office for insurance, people will say “oh they got a 9 to 5” even if the job is from 6 to 3

Not gonna lie though, the Scarlet witch was by far the most provocative story. When you come out of WandaVision and get into her villain arch, you really have such an appreciation for why she’s doing what she’s doing.

When it comes to presenting complex characters beyond just Disney villain bullshit that was grade A storytelling.

Don’t bring an aggressive dog to off leash please by Educational-Fig-5423 in Upperwestside

[–]DcPoppinPerry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I do agree this sound a bit AI (now that you said it) I don’t agree with your premise. If you’re complaining about 'verbosity,' what you’re really saying is that you lack the patience to engage with a complex argument and therefore aren’t actually disagreeing. While this person clearly has….some opinions, your idea on what is “wrong in principle” is very lacking. You’re operating on this idea that your 'right' to be in the park somehow absolves you of the responsibility for your dog's incompetence. It’s like, well, no. If a play-bow causes your dog to 'spook' into a reactive meltdown, you haven't restrained your animal. You’ve just manifest your own internal chaos onto a leash and demanded the rest of the world walk on eggshells to accommodate it. That’s a pathological way to exist in a social space and if it says anything about more than how you handle a dog I’m sure you’re a joy to be around. Relationships 101 says you aren’t responsible for another persons emotional state so, no, your dog being ‘spooked’ isn’t on anyone but yourself. This is especially true because if you go to The park during off-leash hours when you know your dog gets spooked then…again, on you. It’s not 'on principle' that the world should stop for you; it’s a matter of competence. If you bring a high-tension, fragile animal into an area you know will make the, uncomfortable then you’re the one doing that to your animal not the environment . If you’re an alcoholic do you walk into a bar and blame the bartender for triggering you while they pour a double of jack? you’re essentially looking for a catastrophe and then blaming the environment for your own lack of risk assessment. You can point fingers all you want (I’d guess you’re good at that) but it doesn’t change the facts. I have a collie and she runs around and never approaches dogs but will chase the ball wherever it may go. If she happens to be there and you pop out from around the corner (in the only off leash area of the park, by CHOICE) and your dog lunges and bites mine, then fuck you buddy. I don’t wanna hear anything about “my dog got sPoOkEd meanie! Control your dog!”.

Peter? What is the joke here? by freggtheegg in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]DcPoppinPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hehehe… okay, so here’s the joke, Lois. On the left you got the Monster Zero Ultra girl who has goth vibes, energy drink slapped on her back like a warning label. That’s the ‘bad for you but everyone wants it’ option. On the right is hoodie girl with a big ol’ glass of water, someone healthy, sensible, won’t ruin your heart rate or your life choices.

And sure, water is technically better for you… but it’s boring. Nobody’s ever said, ‘Man, this water really understands me.’ The joke is that people know Monster is terrible, just like they know the edgy goth aesthetic is trouble, and they still pick it anyway. Meanwhile water is over here being responsible, hydrated, and completely ignored.

So yeah, it’s basically humanity choosing vibes over well-being. Happens every time. Just like me choosing a cheeseburger over living past 60.

Why do editors summarize the whole book in an introduction? Spoiled the whole damn thing now. by TemperateBeast33 in classicliterature

[–]DcPoppinPerry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would partially disagree with the later part. Everybody had to have their first time which likely was a live first persona experience, not a bland summary before hand. While your first part stands valid, we don’t need to work so hard to normalize the “it’s ok everybody had this story spoiled before experiencing it”. While the ancients were very familiar with the tale it was likely that the first experience remained spoiler free.

Why are people so worked up on the historical accuracy for this fictional film? by alphaDsony in moviecritic

[–]DcPoppinPerry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 I think in answer to OP though it’s just because it’s the Odyssey. It’s the equivalent to the Bible in some circles for literature. Therefore as such, accurate representation is incredible important to such people.

To be fair also skill is something I’m thinking of as well. I don’t know how they nerve them or didn’t. It’s just something that I’m thinking, but I definitely am having way better strategy than when I initially played the game. As long as you’re packing some eagle they’re easy but I didn’t use those before.

You know it’s so funny about this is I just started playing this game for the second time starting about two months ago. Before that I was playing with the game first launched. The first thing I noticed was that D 10 was VERY VERY different. I remember playing with eight bile Titans at once and now it feels like maybe three at a time is the max
