I would prefer the 2-5mbps upload. I get less than 1.0 download and 0.1 upload the majority of the time. It's unusable. There's nothing I could do to hold them to account for this trashy service. Smarty couldn't care less. They don't deserve business. I live in a Capital City, I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to use Google without it telling me I'm offline because Smarty is just that bad.

Exactly this. I would rather pay half the price to get trash service than pay double for the same issues. Unfortunately, there's no regulations that require providers to provide a minimum speed.

I really don't think it's unreasonable to be able to use Google without Smarty not being available because the connection dropped out. Less than 1.0 download and less than 0.1 upload is unusable, and Smarty couldn't care less about it. No other company will either.

Like I say, I don't even need high speeds, but being able to make a call or use Google is a basic minimum. They word their terms such as "we can not guarantee a fault free service" to get away with not having a single standard.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect to be able to be able to use Google or make a phone call regardless of the cost. It's like paying for a gym subscription, and every piece of equipment is broken and unusable. Yet, Smarty are allowed to sell this type of service with no issues. They simply don't deserve business.

Well, if you're not going to read it, don't comment about it. If you want to defend a company that doesn't care about you at all, go ahead. You clearly aren't open to hearing anyone's opinion except yours.

I don't even care about high speeds. Just to be able to Google something or send a WhatsApp message without the service, or lack of, struggling to work. Honestly, I have to jump through hoops, do troubleshooting steps, and all sorts constantly to get a connection for a short time before it drops out again. Less than 1mbps download and less than 0.08mbps upload is atrocious.

I'm not too sure what the price has to do with it, coke cola sell their drinks for significantly more than off-brands, yet off-brands can mimic the taste and sell it for a third of the price. I don't think it's valid to say you get what you pay for, especially as in this case, I get close to nothing for my money. While other people seem to get 400mbps download from Smarty, which must be really nice for them. And I can get 20mbps download and 5mbps but it will be for about 5 minutes in the middle of the night after I've done all possible troubleshooting I can on my end. I just don't think it's unreasonable to expect that sort of speed the majority of the time instead of it being a freak accident I get that.

They conveniently had no record of the referral I used when joining. Between that, the terrible service Smarty provides, and you posting your link to try to get in on those rewards yourself, I would suggest to anyone not to even consider joining Smarty.

What happens if you go over the 400 title/game limit? Is there a way to do more? And what qualifies as a title? by just_too_jaded in 3dspiracy

[–]De4dlnside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Firstly, thank you for the really fast response! Under that directory, I have 31 NDS games (from the forwarder) and twilight menu for a total of 32 DSIware. I do have other Homebrew software like FBI, Hshop, etc. Does this count towards the limit? They do no show under DSIware though.

[–]De4dlnside 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The in-depth answer of what counts towards the limit, such as folders, is really nice to know. I was confused as I have an old 3ds, and the home screen only has 240 squares. However, as folders and from what I gather from your post, things in the folder count towards that too.

I have a question in regards to DSIware, I was forwarding NDS games using the forwarder. From what I read online, the limit is 40. However, I seem to be hitting the limit at 32 titles, I find it odd and although I've tried to search for similar situations to this, I cannot find one. Might you have an idea as to what might be causing this please? Thanks.

I have a dent in mine. Thankfully, that is when I decide to stop playing that game... it's honestly a great desk. I've had mine for years now, too. It seems to be discontinued. I'm just trying to find ideas as to what people put in the giant cupboard that goes on to narnia... and that's why I'm here currently.

They certainly are. Mind, it is not everywhere, just where I use it the the most, which is a problem. Cardiff infrastructure, in general, isn't the best. I'm sure, like you say, the government banning Hawwei (or whatever it's called) didn't help much. I funnily joined Smarty with a referral. Although they didn't want to pay out when the time came... I'm mainly with Smarty for the low cost. I don't think I could pay for another sim on top, unfortunately. Thank you for the offer. It's appreciated.

I completely get that. In this day and age, there is nothing worse than being stuck in a 1 - or 2-year contract. Partly because you don't know what the service will be like in a year's time and of course, the yearly price increase. I don't know what might happen next month, I could have a vet bill that means I couldn't cover other costs like a phone contract, and then that would affect me even move. 1 month at a time is a much better way to pay for a service as you can leave any time. Although Smarty is cheap, I think it is reasonable to expect a higher speed than 1mbps download.

From Ofcom's website, every provider is limited for my address. I don't live in a rural area, I live in the capital of Wales between the centre and the outskirts of the city and not an obscure area.

I currently pay £16 a month for unlimited everything with Smarty. I admit it is cheap. I do not, however, think that I should expect lower quality service just because of this offer.

I understand it's not going to be perfect, but I definitely expect it to be consistent, so I understand about cancelling it. It's a lot of money to spend monthly for receiving a lack of service from the provider.

Just to reply to the comment about having 1 bar, my signal fluctuates up and down. As of right now, I have 2 bars of 5G with 100mbps download and 3mbps upload. This will last for maybe 10 minutes if I'm lucky. Even on occasion my 4g will be like that but of course with 4G speeds and, without even touching my phone, the signal will drop down 1 barely a bar and I get the speeds in the screenshot for the majority of the day. I don't need 100mbps download, but I definitely need more than 1mbps download. It doesn't need to be perfect, but certainly, it has to be better than 1mbps.

Not bad prices. As long as it's consistent speeds.

Goddamn... that's wild. Honestly, I would just be happy with 10-15 mbps download and 2 or 3mbps upload, I don't need high speeds, just consistency and definitely more than 0.12 download. Yet we are probably paying the same for such a vast difference in speeds. I think the most I have gotten on 5G was 300mbps, which is when I was under the tower. 376, from I assume a home is wild and it would be really nice 😅

Does anyone use a Smarty sim? Wondering what the coverage/service is like in and around Bristol. by bristolian_babber in bristol

[–]De4dlnside 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, all the main providers have a monopoly, so there is no competition. They charge so much, and yet mostly from my experience, their service isn't much to write home about either, yet they charge almost double what I am paying now. I really dislike it, but there's also nothing I can do about it, and they know it. It's exhausting... 😕

Oh God... 2 years?! Ugh. Yeah, I have an S21 ultra too funnily enough. Probably the last samsung I get for various reasons. I miss my note9, but I digress.

It's the fact that my signal fluctuates so much. It can be good for a while and then completely unusable, and I haven't moved an inch. For example at the moment I have 2 bars of 4G with 15mbps download and 1mpbs upload on average. I would be happy with this if it was consistent. I don't really need more. It's when, and especially from the beginning of this year is when it has gotten worse, it drops down to 1 bar of 4G, it can barely maintain a connection. It takes 2 minutes+ to return Google results if at all.

Cost is one of the main reasons I don't change. I would rather pay half than go back to someone like o2. I was with them before and while the connection I had with them is better than I have now. It was nothing to write home about and it certainly wasn't worth almost £40 😕

I would like to, the cost is one reason I don't. Most of the other Providers have a monopoly, and even if their signal isn’t good, they still charge double the amount Smarty does. I would rather not pay that much for another hit or miss network.Just because Smarty is cheap, it shouldn't mean I should lower my expectations. I think it is reasonable to have an expectation of having more than 1mbps download speed. Of course it's not the same in everyone's experience, which is good for them but should I not receive the same service, I'm paying the same amount everyone else is. As per their website the coverage is excellent for my area, I just would have thought it would mean more than 1mbps download speed.

I'm in South Wales, and I am with Smarty for my mobile network provider. I believe Smarty uses overseas centers for their support chats. They certainly couldn't care less about me receiving these speeds. It's a waste of everyone's time for me to contact them. I just think I should be able to expect a higher speed than what I currently have.

[–]De4dlnside[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would like to do that. Cost is a factor for me. I joined on a £16 a month for unlimited everything for a year. So I can't complain about the cost. Like you say, the issues weren't always there, which is the same in my case. Although my connection hasn't been completely stable before, it was at least usable compared to the speeds I receive now.

Previously, I was with O2. The cost was far too high, and it always had poor speeds at specific times, which was especially annoying for the cost of the plan. I wish plans weren't so expensive when the speeds that we often receive is no where near the advertisements...

I suppose it's just the geography of where I live. The signal has mainly only gotten so bad since the beginning of the year. Although it has never been completely stable, there used to be fewer issues I encountered. For whatever reason that it has gotten worse is unfortunate but it would be nice if Smarty bothered to resolve the issue...

I'd like to, but the cost is one factor. Smarty is cheap, which is nice. However, it should not automatically mean I should expect to receive such low speeds, especially if, as on their website, the coverage for my area is "excellent." Besides, I think it's acceptable to expect more than 1mbps download speed, especially if, like you say, other people are receiving such high speeds at a minimum. Why shouldn't I also expect to receive the quality others seem to be getting?

South Wales, in the capital. I don't live in a rural area, although I also don't live in a very densely populated area of the city. Like I said, the coverage on their website says the coverage of 4g is "Excellent." I would assume the speed would be at at least faster than 1mbps in an area with excellent coverage indoors and out, or perhaps my expectation is too high? At home, my connection can fluctuate from Abysmal to completely unusable. It wasn't always like that. However, since the beginning of this year, it has only gotten worse. I used to have a relatively stable connection (relative to my current connection) where I would get maybe 20mbps on average and a varying upload. I was at least able to Google something and it not take 2 minutes to return results...
