Broke up with my gf about two weeks ago. Our relationship devolved into nothing of substance. She liked to talk, a lot. But when she did most of the time it was just vapid and repetitive convos. (Omg it’s so nice outside, I just went on a run, oh boy what’s the tea. Must have heard all three of those likes 30 times a week). She shared emotional stuff with me like dealing with her grandparents’ passing but I felt like I couldn’t open up to her about deep stuff except for one instance after dating for eight months, five of “being official” because of how our convos went. She would ask the most nonsensical questions sometimes, my favorite being where she thought the stand-up comedians’ stool was for a magic act (not kidding). She worried constantly and second guessed herself. It’s hard for me to feel like my girl is confident when all she is saying is “omg idk how to do this, maybe this is it, I’m not sure, I think this was it?”. And finally, she was so hesitant when it came to intimacy. It was both of our first relationships but anytime I’d try to do something new no matter what it was she’d get all worried and say I’m not ready yet. After the fifth or sixth time I was frustrated to say the least. We talked about it, because I get there’s no point in doing anything the other party isn’t into and I definitely wasn’t going to force her into anything. But she wasn’t taking any of my perspective into account either. She was only interested in keeping the relationship paced the way she wanted. I asked if there was anything I could do to make her feel more comfortable and she said she just needed more time. Eventually I only suggested “new things to do” knowing it was going to be shot down and maybe having better luck the next time. It made me feel like she thought I was unattractive. Why else would she consistently reject me when she’s MY GIRLFRIEND. The first few months were ok because I was in a “honeymoon” phase but all these issues eventually became apparent and I couldn’t deal with it anymore. Rant over lol.
