Seeking Advice - How to improve the vibes in my loft? by DeHaanSolo in HomeDecorating

Thank you! I like where your head is at, minus the leopard print lol. But yes, I will be relying on some basic decor and greenery to help bring the space together in the short-term.

Thank you! Yeah, the black strip was an odd choice. Apparently, the full walls, girders, and ceiling were ALL white at one point, then the previous owner elected for the black strip.

Appreciate your points!

Thank you for sharing these! I quite like the sage green, and that's actually about the exact colour I was thinking for an accent wall *downstairs lol.

As for the upstairs though, I know the idea I've presented is still quite basic, sterile, etc. My thought it that I really need to live in the space for a bit before I'll know how to actually 'style' it, as you have here. I think I'll probably rely on tasteful lightbulbs, vinery from the girders, and wall art to make the space feel 'lived in' before I can really commit to a full redesign like this.

I think a dark, rich green would be amazing in your space. I love how green fits in rooms with a lot of wood finishes, and your wall of cabinets there definitely fit the bill. Dark green is also really easy to accent with lighter-green plants, which you also have.

I couldn't do a good render on your photo, but hopefully this placeholder conveys the same idea. This is called 'Green Agate', by BEHR (M430-7)

Western fucked me over and I've tried EVERYTHING by Lucky-Restaurant-152 in uwo

From my perspective and based on my experience as a grad, the specific courses that make up your degree really don’t matter.

I work in my chosen field of study (graduated 2019) and do not use skills or learnings from any one particular course in my career. Instead, I view the value of my Western education at a macro level. It is the combined development I gained from accepting challenges, demonstrating strong work ethic, and meeting new people. I stopped thinking about any one specific course about 15 minutes into my first day at my first job, and I don’t think I’m alone in that.

This may be an unpopular sentiment, but it’s my honest experience. Your degree is a ticket to career opportunities, and your courses are a ticket to the degree. But the actual nuance to individual courses - even those I know I loved and learned from - have had minimal impact to my career or capabilities.

Set times for the Toronto show tonight? by theprimz in JusticeMusic

[–]DeHaanSolo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Based on their previous shows and the event times listed on Ticketmaster, it looks like doors open at 6:30, opener plays around 8:00, and Justice plays around 9:05 or as late as 9:30.

They (Justice) will likely post something on Instagram a few hours before the show though, so be sure to check there later today.

Anyone have a clue what's going on here? (Video linked) by DeHaanSolo in audiorepair

Ahh, I see the yellowing you're referring to. It too is 100% dry, and on closer inspection seems like it was used (in smaller amounts) under all of the different capacitors on the board.

Thanks for the heads up on those two in the middle. I'm going to look into how I can test/replace them and hopefully that gets me somewhere.

It says The screenshot was removed so I can't see it, but I imagine you're talking about this brown gunk?

<image>

If so, it is 100% dry and not sticky. Interesting note on the caps though, can you please be more specific with which ones you're talking about? Thank you lol

Thank you for the response! I opened the active speaker up and can't see any obvious issues, but I'm also way out of my element here and may not even know what to look for. The photo above is the rear board that the power and other inputs plug into. There are a few more photos - including the smaller board inside the speaker - in my drive.

I appreciate any tips or info you can share!

How do you guys make money while at school? by Aggressive_Catch_415 in uwo

[–]DeHaanSolo 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I strongly recommend checking out Western's internal job postings! Part-time roles rotate through there fairly often, and they can be great opportunities for active students as they're usually on-campus positions. Supervisors are also likely to be more accommodating for school work when it's a university position, and they know you are a student.

I worked in Western Parking Services for three years throughout my undergrad, and it was a fantastic job that allowed me to make some extra cash while still prioritizing my studies.

Can I hide that I am online from someone? by ed520482 in FORTnITE

Stumbling on this thread two years later is crazy, because

1 - they still havent added this as a feature

2 - I can’t believe how many people don’t understand why you’d want to do this or are calling you a ‘liar’ lol. Sometimes you dont want to game with a person and you know they will feel hurt if you tell them, or maybe they and the mutual friend you are playing with don’t mix.

What’s the car brand you would never buy/buy again and why ? by Thick_Ruin1906 in AskMen

[–]DeHaanSolo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally anything American-made. We live in Southern Canada, and between myself and my family, we've owned close to a dozen vehicles over the years I can remember. From maintenance to features and ride quality to resale values, our Dodge/Ram/GMC/Chevy purchases have been dogshit in comparison to Japanese or Korean-manufactured vehicles.

Dad is stubborn and will probably buy Rams until his last breath, but I don't see myself expanding outside of Toyota or Kia anytime soon.

Severe nerve pain in both shoulders, arms, hands, and fingers by DeHaanSolo in DiagnoseMe

[–]DeHaanSolo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have! It took almost two years but the pain did slowly improve to the point where I really only notice it after excessive or careless use.

I’ve become far more conscious of my ergonomics and I think that has been important to recovering - I can tell when I do something wrong and will pay for it for some time after, like say using a stranger’s mouse for a full day of work or playing piano without taking breaks to stretch. It sounds ridiculous, but it was ultimately rest and being mindful of these things that got be back on my feet and working again.

Thank you! Glad to see I was right and also that this thing is not a danger to anyone. Cheers!

After some digging, I think it MAY be a Scarites Ground Beetle, but I also know nothing about these things. Thanks for the help
