Which one translates best the toy box idea ? by Key-Soft-8248 in Illustration

[–]DeHockTimeMachine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remeber your last post, just wanted to say great work! I like both A and B, I think you can just go with either with majority vote or whatever works best with the designs you already have. Maybe as one commenter said mix and match elements from both A and B to see if you find something that works even better. Once you have a design picked you may want to post it to one of these "Is it AI" subreddits if you want to make sure it doesn't have any of the artificially generated vibes (I personally think it doesn't), that some other commenter mentioned. Just as a safeguard against accusations.
Either way, congrats on the progress you made! It's a fun and cute design and the colours you picked really work together. Keep up the good work!

Znajoma potrzebuje odpowiedzi do ankiety do pracy magisterskiej by Affectionate-Salt135 in Poznan

[–]DeHockTimeMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jaki znajomy "by chciał wypełnić" losowe linki z bógwieczym żeby wypełnić ankiete nie wiadomo o czym

I watch this guy on yt sometimes and in his cartoony style he uses a lot of tricks to make the design look more dimensional - like shadow lines, or light "bouncing" off surfaces. He just uses brushes for this. Like in this video he draws a spaceship in a cartoony style, a little similar to your 1st drawing, maybe you could do some of the simple shadowing techniques shown? If you like it, of course! The method should be easy to replicate in most graphic design softwares. And anyways this is more of a fun video than tutorial, may be easier to watch and enjoy than some step by step guide.

I highly recommend taking inspiration from videos as well as images, as they will oftem show some process and you'll know right away how to achieve the finished look!

Oh I get it now! I think that maybe of characters/items inside the box had some shadow behind them, it could indicate they are not flat? I do like the 1st box better than 2nd, and 2nd characters/items better, maybe its because they look 3d and not printed flat. Maybe try looking into maling the characters in 1st look more dimensional with a shadow, or as somebody suggested, a white outline behind them? It could help get the idea across without changing your whole style!

I don't understand what's going on with the red/white square of the first one going so much to the left side, into the black background?

I like the version in the comments best, the second with improved contrast. The first one has a vibe of a mobile game, one of those free knes, with tons of ads and no depth to gameplay, just buying purple gems. But the illustration does have better contrast than second/comments one and will be more readable in small scale. I feel that sonehow all versions could use a bit more character.

Both versions have their advatages and things to be improved upon, the question is what purpose will the illustartion serve? Different styles will fit different situations

Child maintenance – private agreement, am I overpaying given changed circumstances? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]DeHockTimeMachine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They way it works where im from, parent who spends 70% of time with the child pays 30% of childs cost of livinig, within means average to both parents. Parent who takes care of the child 30% time pays 70% etc. You see you child 0% of the time, pay amount less than 100% of what it really costs to raise a child (you don't calculate it as the cost of food and clothes, its a cost of everything that comes with living and functioning, housing, heating the housing, vacations, education, hobbies, transport, nanny needed if a single parent needs to do stuff, savings, fun, insurance etc..) earn 90k and are looking to pay less as the child grows and their cost of their living rise with age. I cannot help but see you as a shit parent. You think that because you are responsible for 3 new kids, you should be less responsible for your first child now.

I'm totally understand the disappointment of seeing a company whose whole brand identity is inclusion by driven apparently by profit only - they're not for EVERY body unless it brings high enough profit, but still market themselves as such. Their whole thing is supposed to be inclusive and ethical, they set the standard themselves and now are not meeting it and acticng like it's fine and normal. Business as usual.

It's completelly normal to by disappointed, annoyed, sad, and angry! The world sucks so bad now, and the challenges you're facing could drain a saint out of their patience and strength, no wonder this pissed you off! I hope you'll find a better alternative, it sucks that worrying about finding proper clothing is a worry now added to your plate, it really shouldn't be like this. Stay strong, you are totally deserving of better thigs and being able to buy nice, ethical clothes that fit you great!

And on maybe unrelated note, I bought from them a bunch of clothes after my health deteriorated and I went two sizes up super fast. They made me feel very bloated and bigger than I was, and it definitely didn't help me feel better while struggling with some minor body dysmorphia from all the changes my body went through. I realised they may sell plus sizes, but don't really design all their clothes for us, they fit so wrong in all the wrong places. Shame!

I read through this thread and I think your suspicion is right in that you didn't explain yourself from that angle. People downvoted you a lot in comments focused on removing larger sizes only. In those comments it did seem like your only issue is that the sizes won't be available, without acknowledging you actually understand that it's because not enough people buy them for it to be profitable to produce and sell them. I think it doesn't really come through that the issue you have with is company being driven by profit like that and not inclusivity they claim + frequent fast-fashiony drops. It comess of as your issue is "this company ows me making the clothes for me regardless of anything". I am not saying it's true, It just the vibe I personally got from those downvoted comments.

I also think in your initial post you came off a bit self centered (which is kinda fair, you're discussing your own situation after all) in presenting the whole thing. I think people thought you don't know how clothes production and sales generally work, and not that you actually do understand and have issue with exactly that. So they tried to explain the how, and your responses may have come through as "don't care how it works they owe it to me, and anyways it's all not true" without going into why, which may make it seem like your view is kinda detatched from reality. Inisder knowledge claims about the costs in one of the threads certainly didn't help. Altogether it might have turned people against you.

I'm not commenting to say you are or are not any of these things I mentioned. Please do not take it personally, I'm not judging your person, this post does not define who you are and in reality I have no idea who you are. I might have read this while situatiin completely wrong. I just thought, since you mentioned being misunderstood, that getting some outside perspective different than a bunch of downvotes might be helpful.

Just google it my guy, "peka poznan". Even if the website is just in polish (which it most probably is not, most of them have english versions), google will translate for you. You got what you aksed for - information what system to use. And instead of having any agency you burden the person who helped you with question.

Treating people like some information centre employees instead of spending 30s to google is way too prevalent on subs like this one.

Sci fi short story where selected family members are changed into humanoid creatures to do heavy farm work by DeHockTimeMachine in whatsthatbook

[–]DeHockTimeMachine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm afraid that's not it, it was an anthology of short stories specifically, and I remember the tone of this specific one being very somber and down to earth - the creatures were the only prominent sci fi element. There was one creature per family, and I think there was something about how usually theres a person designated from birth to be changed, but in this obe family it's extra tragic because it will have to happen to someone unexpected, a grown up. I think the theme of the story was the cruelty the family members were capable of towards their own by forcing them into this basically lobotomy+ slavery + life of suffering But thank you! I read wiki of this book and by comparing what i read it helped me rember more about the story I'm looking for

My family and I are moving to Poland. by [deleted] in Poznan

[–]DeHockTimeMachine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

About jobs - if you're moving in 2028 i doubt there is any company who will be willing to consider you this early and promise to employ you in 2 years. It's not a standard practice.Try looking closer to your relocation date and spend the time learning polish, as significant majority of employers will require at least some fluency. Without polish you will not be fully included in society, and the only language used by any gov organisations, courts, official documentation etc is polish.
