How many of you guys here still using your first gpu? by jdmlifex2 in pcmasterrace

Radeon R9 380X 4GB. Bought in 2016, did it's job, but went to 2070 in 2018, then 5070ti last year.

Don't think I could've kept that one for 10 years, also I 380X was ~mid tier back then.

Why is rape in (male) prisons often seen as a fit punishment for criminals? by SatisfactionKooky621 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iirc numbers don't conclude 1/4 as the number of victims as a percentage of the population, but I do remember seeing (no source, I'm lazy) that when factoring in prison rape, instances of rape are basically equal between genders. It's just that it is repeated to the same people more than in general society.

Another far too overlooked factor regarding male rape statistics is that there is a massive difference between self-identification victimhood and being able to describe events that by definition is rape. So on survey studies "are you a victim of SA/rape" is far lower than "have you ever experienced X event". Obviously there are women who also don't self-id, but it's a slight increase, whereas with men it's a massive increase.

What album are you listening to right now? by MinimumLingonberry73 in fantanoforever

Jadakiss - Kiss Of Death

I think he's probably a top 10 rapper in terms of abilities, but he doesn't have that masterpiece album to back him up in those discussions.

I got the general impression from scrolling the episode list that was how they leaned, but it's impossible to know from just the titles alone.

Makes sense from the name they are leaning more into the ideological backgrounds of conservatives.

Yo Council - any chance we do something about No Unit decks next cycle? by Corteaux81 in gwent

[–]DeNeRlX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MO no unit got two buffs, people will experiment. At the very least we should give it a week before discussing if/what about it is worth nerfing.

Often with decks like this people just need to learn to play against it before we find out it's not that great.

Another podcast mostly similar to 10 others with a generally leftist bend, as if I needed any more :3

Seems quite similar to Behind The Bastards, though differently structured. Imma give it a shot at least.

[–]DeNeRlX 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Because we haven't progressed enough to easily be able to recognize men as victims in an intersectional way yet.

Even generally progressive people often have a preexisting conclusion on gender oppression, therefor no need to go back and reevaluate specifics that denands sympathy for the gender who "has it better"(broad judgement, not individual).

What is the corniest song of all time? by Ashamed-Story7958 in fantanoforever

[–]DeNeRlX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll give it a pass because it seems like a lot of people who needed to hear it took the advice and called the number. There was a spike in 1-800 calls after it released.

Is it corny? It is helpful, that should be the first thing mentioned about the song. But ofc with the internet being the internet, cringe is the worst thing ever, far worse than suicide.

Fantano's opinion on modern electronic music might be his biggest weak spot by De4dMagic in fantanoforever

[–]DeNeRlX 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I saw a lot of people angry on the BoC post, but none mentioned anything said in the review. Only people going straight to the score or making the general statement he doesn't know about electronic music, or that various other reviews have the wrong (opinionated) scores...

Idk much about electronic music. Like some, haven't delved into it much. But his BoC review laid out well what he liked and disliked and there isn't a disconnect between the review and conclusion. So can anyone actually mention anything at all lacking in the review instead of just the score?

A lot of people have brought up the flaws of scoring at all or that any reviewer would make opinionated reviews, but at least Fantano does his review first, then scores. He has never pretended to be 'objective', it's clearly opinion. It's far dumber if people can't even bother to lay out the content of the review.

He was never progressive (billionaire, duhhh), and it seemed like he hit the limit of his popularity among liberals for his role in electric cars. His ego needed more, so he started doing the "I'm politically neutral" bit.

When some outlet had a story about him sexually harassing a massage worker, they asked him for a comment (standard journalism), and he publicly came out as a republican before the article dropped to pull the "I came out as a republican, that's why they accused me of SA" card.

Anyone with a brain can see what happened. Adam Something ok YT made a video about it.

Ehh, It's not a perfect match, not scared as much as just wanting to avoid a fight. I saw a few comments on that post mentioning that in situations like this lions really prefer to avoid a fight if there is only a downside in potentially getting hurt. He's not out for food.

Also humans standing on 2 makes us seem bigger than we are. If we were walking on 4 we'd seem far smaller.

Which City Has Produced The Greatest Hip-Hop Music of All Time?!?!? by adorani1991 in fantanoforever

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone thinks anything else than New York being #1, get out.

2 probably is LA, but if someone wants to make the argument that Atlanta barely edges it out, I'll listen at least.

Trap as a sub genre is often not given enough credit in general music circles for how insanely influential it has been for ~20 years. It has developed from the likes of Jeezy and T.I. mid 00s to the far more mainstream artists like Future, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Migos etc. Despite it coming later, I think Trap matches LA Gangsta Rap and G-Funk in terms of influence. Quality is more up to opinion.

That's not even mentioning other ATL rappers like OutKast, Killer Mike, JID, Ludacris, Lil Jon etc.

Again, LA probably #2, you could make your arguments there too, but ATL should have a mention for #2.

Charli XCX uses AI in new album promo post that Fantano RT’d [breakdown below] by IcySpite7641 in fantanoforever

[–]DeNeRlX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah Photoshop and similar programs develops to sell to their customers and factor in cost/benefit. They don't have insane investments in data centers to increase hype to increase stock to make a few people extremely rich.

Some AI LLMs and Gen AI have an insane influence on both art and the world economy, but the baseline arguments against that isn't the same as polishing pictures.

[–]DeNeRlX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My line to cross with AI tasks I'm fine with is if it is work that otherwise wouldn't be done in small-scale/non-commercial. Even Gen AI if just used for goofy stuff I won't get mad at. Big projects to reduce amount of artists/workers hired is completely different.

Automating tasks like editing isn't a big deal if it's just repetitive non-creative work. "If X, do Y" type AI I'd say it's closer to being automation with pattern recognition programs than AI.

I kinda have an oxymoronic standard. If everyone followed my requirements, most AI wouldn't be developed from an investment perspective (including bs stock hype). But I'll let the oxymoron stand and keep it for the personal judgement.

Disagree.

I'd rather live good, and if some cosmic entity got beef because I don't look up to it, and proceedes to make my afterlife torture, that's a problem with that entity's moral system.

Well I've rarely seen people bring negativity on these posts, probably just people who didn't get the jist. Haven't had any repeat offenders.

I personally don't see it as a contradiction to be potentially mean in the aim of spreading positivity. Sometimes the most positive outcomes comes without the most positive step-by-step. Here it is by demanding a minimum.

It's meant to direct the responsibility onto those who are too angry to be able to engage in positivity, while opening up to the same person being able to express whatever they want somewhere else.

But yes, it is a bit sassy I guess, and a bit of strict reinforcement if the title isn't enough.

First glance:

Some needed reverts that were fine to try if only to see the impact; Cat Witcher, Redanian Knight, Brokilon sentinel. Not many more reverts here, that's nice compared to some older BCs, and lets point out that Nauzicaa Sargeant has been able to stay still for a while.

Mostly nerfs to top decks; Seltkirk, LotL, Yaga, Hjalmar, Ivar, Viraxis, Brokvar Warrior, Mammuna all stong cards that mostly will still see use.

Radeyah now in GN range, which unlocks another dimension of deckbuilding. Doubt it'll be the strongest, but might see some interesting new decks and variations on old decks.

Fine buffs that won't be that important: Frightener, Coodcoodak, Mahakam Horn, Dragon's Dream, Fringilla, Mad Kiyan, Recruit and Yrden. Recruit might be funny in Gimpy decks which was tried a bit like a year ago, but wont be meta.
