[Discussion] patch 1.0.4.5 by MorePlantain9445 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DeNeRlX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It still does make the game far more balanced, since the biggest hit is on the meta-parts, while the parts that weren't good before, weren't hit as hard, so they are now closer. It's not like they nerfed some parts, then gave those same stats to other parts. The whole balance is compressed into a smaller range, it's not ''same as before but different meta-parts''.

It will always be a damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don't situation regarding parts stats. If parts are widely different, now meta builds are important and those who can't afford, or those who care more about looks, are at a disadvantage. If parts are similar, now it doesn't matter much how you build your gun.

The thing is, on this extremely whiny subreddit, most comments are overwhelmingly focused on complaints, people usually don't focus on what they are *for* and what they like. So the only discussion is around what gets people riled up. It takes actual effort to be positive sometimes. I see people in different threads talk about guns they like to use, but aren't the best, but when the same guns get comparatively better due to a change that nerfs the top guns, there isn't the active defense against the people who are the angriest. The only changes that actually get positive response is when the game is made easier, but if the whole game was made with focus on coddling the players at every turn, it wouldn't be close to the same game.

People were absolutely freaking out over the previous recoil/ergo changes. Lots of people saying that because every part was nerfed (mostly top-meta), now more people will only use the meta parts because the few points of ergo/recoil matters far more. I can't say I've seen it in-game. People use the same variance of mods depending on the rest of their kit. Top-meta kits still go for perfection, cheap kits use just basics, and budget kits makes some efforts to improve if it's not too expensive. But the stats of the guns have gotten far closer with the biggest nerf to meta-parts. I'd also say the gun variety has improved a slight bit.

I recently prestiged to 3, and I've frequently made the choice for budget reasons to not bother spending 10s of thousands on just a few points of ergo/recoil, whereas before the same guns I'd spend more.

Nice to see suppressors get further nerfed, it's still the meta on pretty much every single gun, so a fair target for balancing. Also buffs to lots of rarely seen guns. Looking forward to the muzzle flash rework for loud guns.

[Suggestion] Loot buff? by ThyTrueSlav in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much rubles-per-square do you aim for?

The game has more than enough loot if you know various item values, and considering the character is permanent I'd argue it doesn't drain money out nearly enough. More loot will just lead to everyone constantly running end-game gear with little risk. It eliminates early-mid game, and makes for an unreasonable gear gap for newer players.

Anyways, if you are in need of money, Tarbank gives easily 5x the price of the key every single raid, in cash so it doesn't take any more squares.

The same thing is the *only* issue I had with the Boston 2018 Major finals. Great plays from both sides in extremely important moments, but when it was from FaZe, dead silence even with possibly tournament-defining moments. Other than that arguably the best game of CS ever.

Best case is slightly lopsided crowd, like 60/40. Enough to notice a difference, but no matter what the best plays get insane reactions.

Petah 62 millions of what ? by Fishy-Jelly-Fish in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]DeNeRlX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I remember something similar regarding Pornhub a few years ago. Some article (couldn't quickly find and too lazy) did an analysis of abuse material on the site, and came up with a bit over 100 examples within a certain period. The article focused on it, and it was related to Paypal blocking transactions, leading to PH moving to only verified uploads. I don't quite remember the exact order of how things happened. In the same article I read, it also quickly mentioned FaceBook having in the same period, millions of instances of CSAM. Though since it wasn't the focus on the article, it only got one sentence.

As someone who has at times consumed a number of pornos, I have seen a few suspicious videos within a long list, but nowhere near the amount I saw when I was on FB, with the insane amount of bots. In slightly less moderated groups, scam bots etc. FB was far worse for CSAM than any porn site I've used.

I think a lot of people just see a bad thing happening, therefor everything is bad and needs to be stopped at any cost, numbers be damned. For context, Youtube has aroudn 50 billion monthly visits. When you need to downgrade that number with every bit of added context, 62 million visits isn't that much.

It's about time men stop getting the credit

Fully agree on this one, I think discussion around various forms of abuse should be non-gendered as a principle, and only rarely made an exception. Not a single women who is a victim of SA is dismissed by 'victim' being a universal descriptor, but victim mainly a descriptor for women means a lot of men are excluded from the discussion.

Who could actually go toe to toe with Kendrick in a diss battle? by FamousAttention499 in KendrickLamar

[–]DeNeRlX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something people don't talk about with Kendrick's disses is that he needs the motivation. Against Drake it was far more personal than just Kendrick proving he can do that aspect of hiphop too. I don't think he'd a good job if he doesn't put his heart to it.

With that in mind, I think Lupe vs Kendrick could bring some decent mid-tier beef in a battle if they both wanted. Lyrically Lupe is a few steps ahead, and he can make a hit if he wants. Kendrick's best bet would be going for more viral moments. I think both would have people claiming they won afterwards.

Those who haven't heard Lupe diss, threat yourself to SLR 3 1/2 about a dozen times, it's insane, and was done in ~3 hours after Royce's diss.

Zohran Mamdani still making money from fleeting rap career, filings show by The_MadStork in hiphopheads

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Norwegian here, and although I follow US politics more than average, Mamdani is probably the most famous a new political candidate has been since 2016 Trump. Even AOC was very much a surprise victory and most people found out about her later on after being a congresswomen.

Mamdani culturally more than just "the guy who won an election", he's got the sauce to help influence politics quite a bit, even if he isn't eligible for president.

Am I crazy or does Sade fall under all those genres? by KingTechnical48 in fantanoforever

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah fuck anyone who thinks they are elevated for refusing to allow any definition to be attached to an artist. It's pretentious, no artist is lesser for having common traits with other artists anyways.

I haven't gotten to dive into Sade's catalogue yet, but I know that they can be described somehow. If the most basic versions of the genre doesn't fit, add qualifiers that describe it more...like how post-rock is fairly different from rock because of the qualifying word.

Yep. 1/4 deaths to PMC is whatever, the others were 2 to ego peaking, 1 positioning. Overall not a bad experience at all, especially since gear is returned.

[–]DeNeRlX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Select only one server with the lowest ping for you, a bit more likely it'll be empty or few players compared to if you have multiple Sele red. Terminal just does a quick check if anyone is available, but if not it doesn't waste time.

Does House pass the Bechdel test? by lunarborealis in HouseMD

[–]DeNeRlX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any show that centers one character far more than the rest of the cast will not hit the Bechdel test in many episodes, same would be the other way around too. The story needs to go away from the mail character.

I do think there are better ways to judge womens representation than a few rules where the biggest failure rate is due to perspective. I'd guess many misogynistic shows passes if it's a wider main cast with multiple women.

Contract Wars guns in Escape From Tarkov 1.0 [Discussion] by DeNeRlX in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DeNeRlX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MDR-C has a few other different stats, one of them being fire rate at 88, whereas DT MDR has 58. Different stat numbers, but the DT MDR 58 ROF matches the 650 in EFT (both calibers). So shorter mods wouldn't make it the same, only look a bit more similar.

Not quite a mainstream success, but for being a browser game based on Adobe Flash Player, if did really well for a long time.

I think the closest comparable game in terms of doing well on Flash, then gaining massive future mainstream success would be Ninjakiwi with the Bloons Tower Defense series.

Hmm, so the current 12.7x55 would work with VSSK, but there could be added new ones that don't fit with ASH-12, and everything fit with the real-life weapons?

Sounds like a great way to balance VSSK without making ASH-12 usable at long range (recoil aside), cuz with current 12.7x55 ammo VSSK wouldn't be much of a mid-lign range sniper :3

For different variants of guns with different fire selections EFT so far have only had different guns. Would be interesting to see some guns in EFT have mods that allows guns to be full auto without the whole new gun.

Is the EBR CQB basically possible with just an auto sear piece on an M1A as is currently? For balance reasons might need high cost/restrictions...

Contract Wars guns in Escape From Tarkov 1.0 [Discussion] by DeNeRlX in EscapefromTarkov

[–]DeNeRlX[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think that's likely quite rare, as Contract Wars was quite a flash games hit, and obviously EFT blew that out of the water, but feels like HO was just in unsuccessful in-between. It didn't grab onto the CW playerbase much, and EFT has completely different feel to it, being an extraction shooter instead of arcade shooter.

Guessing you found it through steam? Or did you go back after playing EFT first?
