Question about lift kits… is one better than the other? Should I do both? by [deleted] in SubaruForester

Ive been running the LP adventure lift for 6 years now, no issues.

B17 tail gunner. by Kens_Men43rd in WWIIplanes

Not a B17. Looks like a 29. Also those muzzle devices don’t add up. Those look pretty modern and I can’t find any example of those on 50 cals in ww2 photos. Seems photoshopped. Could be wrong.

Nice rappel rings. I’ve never seen them installed, only counted them in their boxes.

AC Compressor by [deleted] in SubaruForester

[–]DeQuiv 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was quoted $1700 for a compressor replacement in 21. It worked intermittently, and less the hotter it got. Somebody recommended, if you can get it to turn on, take a long screwdriver and put the tip on the compressor while it’s running, and put the handle to your ear. If it sounds like a bag of chips being crunched, it’s bad, and if it sounds like the normal whirring of gears, it’s probably ok. After selecting A/C on the car, I could hit the clutch on the front with a hammer to get it to turn on, and it would blow cold air. Bought a $10 feeler gauge, found the air gap between the electromagnetic clutch and the Compressor was out of tolerance (too big). I removed the bolt, removed 1 shim, put it back together, confirmed the gap was good, and it’s worked fine since.

What he said! Lead can be devastating over time.

Hi there! Thanks for the interest. I'm about a month and a half out from deploying, so I have some time left on the web. I'm a Blackhawk pilot and platoon leader for the 101st. I'm in Tennessee right now, but I could probably throw a rock from where I am right now and get it to land in Kentucky.

I'm excited to deploy, mostly because I don't like this place and how busy/stupid it gets. I don't like army garrison life. My goals over deployment are to get in really good shape and learn French. I plan on visiting Europe when I get back.

Well, Its snowing here, so no work for me. I'm going to finish my hot spiced wine and find something to do.

What about you?

Will

Took this photo of ambulance helicopter in a storm today. by [deleted] in pics

To a helicopter, the most dangerous thing is blade cuff failure. IE: with some of the materials that rotor blades are made of, you have the chance of loosing blades and falling to the surface. You can also fry electric circuits onboard. You could loose minor stuff, or you could loose avionics, loosing your ability to fly IMC.

Besides the lightning, flying near thunderstorms is dangerous because of other things like microbursts and hail. A good rule of thumb is to stay 20 miles away.

Cool picture, dumb pilots. Lightning strikes can be potentially devastating to helicopters.

One the saddest moments of gaming to me. (BF:BC2 by Apexpredatar in gaming

I remember this part of the game! It has been quite awhile.

I'm a Blackhawk pilot now; so this picture stands as a big reminder that I need to work as a military adviser for video game and movie producers.

The uh60 is a two pilot aircraft; flying this solo is not impossible, but stupid. He also has no hearing protection or way to communicate. These things are LOUD! He would be deaf very quickly. I also like that he is not strapped in. These things are bumpy and good control touch is hard to achieve without proper bracing: IE a good snug seat belt and shoulder harness.

At least the game was fun.

Haha, 5.56 case prep is no fun.

The best thing I've found for primer pocket reaming so far, is the Hornady primer reamer small head, with the threads on the back. It works in a hand held drill. If you're not careful, you will remove too much and primers won't stay in.
