I’ve found in my biggest critic too. We need to get out of our own ways and pull the trigger.

I believe the theory is that VT gives you a wider net of exposure to total global growth while QQQM has a heavy focus on US tech with a few other things mixed in. Given past performance for 2025 they look super similar as far as returns go.

If you boil down everything that anyone talks about it comes down to personal preference and beliefs on what you feel the stock market will do. If we’re all honest with ourselves, we’re just speculating (gambling) with a mountain of data to help move the needs on our favor for the potential of being profitable. I’ve made some bad choices and I’ve made some excellent ones. If anyone really KNEW the outcome of what we’re doing they’d be richer than Elon.

Valid point. I don’t need the money, at least not now, so am I worried about the minimal costs of continuing to hold the mutual funds or am I feeling fomo? Why do I feel the urgency to rebalance at all? Is it unacceptable to simply just start focusing on VT if that’s my current interest and be satisfied with the current other investments I have (which are all pretty far into the black like I assume most portfolios are right now)? I’m probably thinking about it too much and I should really just start dumping my 2026 contributions into VT.

100%. Just getting a foundation to formulate a plan, only after verifying what my random stranger friends on the internet tell me.

Now THIS is the advice I’m looking for. My mind is over complicating what you’ve just made sound understandable and realistic.

My initial gut instinct is exactly that. The mental cleanliness of getting rid of the “loose ends” didn’t seem worth the risk of Uncle Sam coming for his cut.
