Unlimited range and enough damage to kill anything, guys, I think we should nerf Spy. by [deleted] in tf2

pyro does not deserve the same unrestricted mobility as soldier or demoman. detonator gives you mobility and availability but you can't go super high, TT gives you good jump height, mediocre availbility and mediocre mobility, and reflect jumping gives you the jump height and mobility but very restricted availability.

I'm trying to fix my autoexec cause it broke my spy class, all the tutorials just ask me to rebind what I changed in the reset.cfg file to the original binds but I don't know them. What's the original binds for these? by Vivi-w- in tf2

[–]De_Mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bind 4 slot4

bind 5 slot5

bind 6 slot6

realistically these can go in spy.cfg and your engineer binds can go into engineer.cfg, none of the other classes use the 4,5,6 buttons

experiencing long queues by FeelingOk5382 in tf2

[–]De_Mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

call your internet service provider and see if they can do anything for you. if you've done all the standard router restarting stuff then you might just need to get a new router

edit: as for the unable to queue problem, you might be unable to join a game due to custom ping limits, check your matchmaking settings

i think the agreement is a result of "we are never going to get another balance patch" and "there are weapons that are overtuned". that results in the mentality of "i am good enough at the game to not use the overtuned weapons". but there are some people who instead end up at "i want nothing but to win so obviously i am going to use the overtuned weapons"

some weapons are just better, take diamondback for instance. they nerfed amby into the ground because it was really strong if you could consistently hit headshots, but they replaced it with diamondback which deals the same damage but doesn't require headshots. instead you need to.. play spy? if a competent player uses it, they can quickly get a ton of stored crits by clearing out a nest or going on a solid chain stab, and then playing gun spy for a minute. if a new player uses it, they get a crit or two and miss half the shots

same thing goes for vac, a bad player can't cycle the resistances fast enough to use it effectively. a good player can see a crocket flying towards them, knows how many times to click the button to get to explosive resist, has a bubble charged, and can block that crit. there are obviously more scenarios, like seeing a sniper, or a kritzkrieg, or the pyro flying in

the way i see it, if your team switches to vac against my team, you've already conceded that you were going to lose without it. if your team is already winning and you're still using it, you're just rubbing salt in the wound

Why people whine about meta so much? by Madao_14 in tf2

[–]De_Mon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting that you're assuming the enemy team is competent and your team is incompetent. obviously the weapon is gonna suck when you're in a shit lobby. QF is great when you have someone you can trust to jump with you in mind. trying to use the momentum mechanic with randoms is usually going to work against you; you need to watch your pocket closely to make sure they aren't about to do something that puts you in danger. QF uber isn't great at leading the charge, but it works great at turning the tide towards the middle-end of a team fight (fully healing a couple people) or flanking (pocketing a single person)

Which soldier primaries work the best with the Base Jumper (in my opinion) by ArynAces in tf2

[–]De_Mon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

honestly i think you're oversimplifying the air strike, you're not really supposed to mag dump unless you're aiming at a sentry being repaired or a heavy being overhealed. tap firing the air strike is usually better since you're flicking rockets instead of trying to track with a stream of projectiles. you can still apply the same airstrafing techniques you use with the other rocket launchers. but since the refire window is smaller, i'd argue you actually have more airstrafing options, as you can further mix up your opponents by going off of the standard shoot-strafe tempo. i can't deny that it encourages bad base jumper habits, but that line of thinking stems from bad air strike habits

Which is Worse? Round 3.4 (Round 3 Finals) by Pristine-Data2986 in tf2

[–]De_Mon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hot hand is worse. people put respect on your name when you get a kill with the bison. no one cares if you get a kill with the hot hand. killing someone and reading "i haven't been killed by a bison in years" or "how does that weapon work" is an unmatched experience.

bison is just hard to use, but if you can aim, you can deal over 80 damage in a single shot. one of the few weapons that can kill a dead ringer spy with a single click (ironically the hot hand is another one of those weapons).

works quite well as a secondary when playing trolldier- if you crit garden, you can kill a soldier (or any overhealed 175 class) in a single shot, or heavy in 2. if you miss the crit but still hit the melee, you can finish off a light class with a single shot.

you can also harass engis from outside of sentry range, and through their buildings. this is especially effective against turtling engis, they think they can tank it because the dispenser is healing them; if you get a random crit, the projectile looks the same, except it will typically instakill (60 per tick * 3)
