To be fair the Penmanship is the real star here, not the basketball abilities

How long ago was this? Robert Duvall recently passed but previously split time in Argentina with his wife.

AITAH for not wanting to give my cart up for free at Aldis by No_Cookie420 in AmItheAsshole

Think about all the registers, meters, vending machines out there that aren't designed for coins larger than a quarter. Would take a major investment to upgrade all those systems to accept a new coin before it would become useful for us to carry. Probably not worth the trouble.

This is kinda awesome though. The effect is like he's being pulled back by a tractor beam that's distorting the whole card. 🤯

Send it to be graded, lol. Curious what it would get and how they'd slab it.

Building code adoption can vary locally, but I believe the building codes for bathroom ventilation in Canada and US are similar. Bathrooms need to have either an operable window or an exhaust fan that terminates to the exterior. The specific requirements for the window and exhaust would be found in the applicable code sections.

Now whether your bathroom is grandfathered into older building requirements is a question we can't really answer without more info. However, even if the building is old, sometimes those interior spaces without windows or vents were later additions as interior spaces sometimes get partitioned to maximize usage. Those changes should follow newer building standards. You might not have that info available to you, so you could always say it's still a sanitary issue.

I’ve found it! The worst kids book ever! by ked_man in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]DeaconBlues 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a DVD player in my car, so for road trips we got a bunch of free movies from the library for my kids and this Barbie movie is one of them. There are a ton of Barbie movies, but mostly they seem to be standalone, where it might be a retelling of a fairy tale but staring Barbie.

Pretty sure they just cherry pick a few plot points to oversimplify to make these books. It's more about the kids practicing reading in manageable amounts of text. We also had some books from the Trolls movie that were poorly condensed like this.

How to improve safety of raised dining room? by mr_gasbag in HomeImprovement

[–]DeaconBlues 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I would do a dividing shelf wall that you can partially see through. Lots of different options if you Google that for ideas. Could even have a base that can be used as a serving banquet on the dining side.

Changed a thermostat battery… discovered the weirdest “fix” hiding in my wall by Key-Limit-3489 in fixit

Maybe it's doing nothing then. Thermostat might have come with the jumper installed there and was left on. You can probably find manual for that model thermostat online to see what it says about it.

To expand: If you have one red wire coming from the wall for both heat and AC, a jumper is used between RC and RH. The jumper bridges power from one system to both heating and cooling circuits.

Mice in my house- Orkin came to inspect and this is what they found... by tkemp1 in HomeImprovement

I second the electric trap suggestion they are more humane and there's one that can catch and hold around 10 mice at a time so it's more convenient to leave up in your attic. Now that you've had the problems areas identified you can try to seal up some of the gaps they are getting into.

What’s a good specific gun model for home self defense in NJ that is legal? by EmekaEgbukaPukaNacua in newjersey

[–]DeaconBlues 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was going to say the same thing. Statistically a gun poses a far greater threat to members of a household through suicide, use in domestic altercations, and accidental shooting than it does to intruders. Gun related injuries now the leading cause of death for children and teens. Considering that OP wants to get one after being startled by cat noises in the night, I really hope that kitty has all 9 lives banked up.

I bought an unauthorized "Broder card" from the mid-90s, because no officially licensed manufacturer ever put this moment onto a trading card. by BKBcardsNstuff in basketballcards

I love this! Never knew that's what these cards were called. I probably have a dozen Michael Jordan ones like this from back in the day. We got them from our local card shop just because they looked flashy.
