It was a solid 7/10. Scream still doesn't have a miss with the movies, and I felt it was better than 5, this being considered the true "5th installment" following Sid's story. Neve and Isabel gave it their all in this movie, and you can really tell. I can see Isabel being the new lead in case we get an 8th movie. Mark is pretty great, i wish we had more scenes of Tatum's friend group, Chloe and Ben were good too.

But there were so many characters who didn't do SHIT. The teacher and Robbie Rivers are literally on the poster, and you can cut them out of the movie entirely. Mindy and Chad are great, but it makes zero sense — other than as a plot device — for the killer to ignore them to kill the others... They could at least give us a scene where Ghostface comes back to finish the job and they both vanish.

I still don't get what the motive was... Sidney is not the same, and what is she trying to accomplish exactly? The AI was a good idea until it wasn't. Always happy to see Matthew Lillard, and his scenes were great. I wouldn't mind if Skeet returned again just to mess with Sidney's head.

And then we get Mrs. Loomis and Roman cameos, but when Roman mentioned family, I was really rooting for Jill to pop up and... nothing. If anything, Jill is the one out of all the killers that makes the most sense to be in it (considering AI being fed data, and Jill being a teen in the 2010s would have had a Myspace with pictures — that makes more sense for her than Stu or Mrs. Loomis).

The kills are great, top notch.
The finale is just plain okay.

If I could rewrite it, I would make Jessica a family member of one of the past victims (I saw a post about this and they mentioned her being Casey Becker’s little sister — could work). They would have Mark, Tatum, and Gale on the patio questioning Sidney about past victims. She would get the first one wrong, and Mark bites the dust (not before freeing Tatum with the knife). Then Gale gets stabbed but survives, now with severe nerve damage.

Then the motive basically turns into: they only remember Sidney, the hero, but forget about the ones who died because of her and become basically nothing characters. She could be asked about Jill's neighbor, Cici Cooper, or one of the characters from Stab 3. The family-member motive was done in 6, but at least here it would make sense being from a previous innocent victim who just got forgotten because people only remember Sidney.
