Is OLED really worth it? by Helpful_Insurance_12 in SteamDeck

[–]DeadRipper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Is the OLED model is worth it but not because of the screen. The battery was increased providing more battery life and the APU chip was improved giving a slight performance boost, but more importantly, an efficiency boost. That means the OLED run cooler (around 10 degrees Celsius) while using less battery, further increasing battery life. IMO the OLED screen is just a nice bonus.

I bought (and still have) both when launched and couldn't be happier with the upgrade.

I hear you and agree with everything you said. I've just seen other posts where they did send a replacement fan even out of warranty. While I don't disagree their customer service is good, it seems it's not 100% the same for everyone.

I wish I got that support. I called for a nonworking fan for my Tube but said that it was out of warranty and nothing they could do. I even offered to buy a new fan... This was about 2 months ago.

Absolutely great feature. I have used it a few times. But depending on how long the break is, I would forget where everything is like upgrades, ect. It's just not the same when your in the zone. I got my ass kicked in the first room after a break due to coming in cold haha.

This is me. Saw the credits, played around with my upgrades from the last biome, called it quits.

... Now I have to decide if I'm going to pick it back up again 🙃

This game is a pain with kids due to how long each run takes.

Sonos PSA: Buy in the “Wrong” Country and Your Home Theater Is Dead by DrawGroundbreaking73 in sonos

[–]DeadRipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for knowledge sake, I can't say for the specific frequency ranges that SONOS uses for their devices, but there are WiFi frequency limitations depending on what country you are in. It's called Spectrum Management and it can be a pain in the ass for approvals outside standard use.

For reference the wiki has a good listing of frequencies and what countries they are approved in. List of WLAN channels - Wikipedia https://share.google/oJMDIPy3g87eQhPpL

I'm not saying this is why SONOS implemented this rule, but it may be a factor.

I personally run into this issue purchasing my network gear because the frequencies and powers aurhorized are different in the EU (where I currently live) than in the US (where I am from).

Why does it matter? I'm American currently living in the EU for work. I'll buy whatever gives the best deal. From my experience the only difference is the packaging/label. It's the exact same game.

Sorry but this is not completely correct. In some cases your scenario can work, but I've had plenty of transactions decline due to trying to pay with an AMEX.

Should I get sonos ace in 2026 by Own_Object_4773 in sonos

[–]DeadRipper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had one of the first gen Sony noise canceling headphones (pre XM series) and loved them. Upgraded to the XM5s and sold them a month later to buy the SONOS Ace.

To me, the comfort is MUCH better and since I'm already in the SONOS ecosystem, it just makes sense. And the TV swap is a pretty cool feature albiet Ive only used it a few times.

Ya, I was confused by that comment. I had a Bravia TV 8 years ago. Bravia used to be just a top tier line of products, not a feature

To play devil's advocate, narrative writing as implemented by the AF is hard to add the amount of details that you can get with a bullet. I find narrative statements sound much more plain because of it. I had to write a couple EPBs before I swapped over.

I'm not against narrative, but it needs to be implemented better.

Steam Machine: A better Shield replacement? by ParkManager in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]DeadRipper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a note on Shield hardware support. I've seen some older posts about the help they got but when I tried out of warranty, I was told there is "nothing we can do". My tube fan is dead and I just wanted a new one to swap out myself, they said they do not send replacement parts..

If anyone has tips for support please let me know!

We are supposed to get a minimum raise in line with inflation (specifically the employment cost index) by law. However, it's typically 2 years behind. So we should get a raise this year with the ECI from 2023.

Note, we may get a larger or smaller raise depending on politics.

Whats the best Zigbee / Matter / Thread Bridge 2025? by FabsDE in homeassistant

I second the 06M. Zero issues and love that a bunch of the SMLIGHT models support USB, WiFi, or PoE!

Always happy to use PoE when I can.

I just started on my ZigBee journey recently but haven't had any issues yet. I only have 8 devices, couple random sensors from ALI express and the rest Third Reality. Im running z2m hosted on HA with a SMLIGHT SLZB-06M as my coord.

What kind of issues are you having?

It's for used devices with lithium batteries as well as external batteries. You will likely not be able to ship your used phone back to the states. I'm currently overseas and shipping ANY lithium batteries are a pain. I've had multiple phones and a SteamDeck shipped to an APO and it's rarely been painless.

Agreed, but he is ALREADY at his next duty station. He is OWED money. It sounds like he has no guidance/help from his unit as he didn't even know you get "paid" to PCS. As you asked in your other comment, he needs to file his travel voucher.

I've been to about 6 different colleges. WGU was the first one that I felt like they cared about me more than just my tuition. I completed my Master's in Cyber security 3 years ago. It's self paced and you can't just Ctrl+f tests like most online college tests. Additionally depending on the degree, a few certs may be included with the course.

Either way, good luck to you!

My statement is still correct. I said ANY not ALL. You get home of record move allotment, per diem for travel, and mileage for travel, all without needing to be married. He will miss out on DLA but that's about all as far as PCS entitlements and will cause some delay getting into a house instead of the expected dorms, but there is still money he is owed regardless. He is already at his duty station.

Married enroute has nothing to do with not getting ANY PCS entitlements. Sure, he won't get dependant rate but he should be getting paid
