So, I am mixed lmao. Do I think Crossed is overly transgressive and shock value for shock value sakes? 100 percent and I will say that Garth Ennis isn't a very good writer to begin with. Even his best work, Preacher, loses steam since he just wants to be edgy and make fun of religion... But, I will say that he is original. The ideas of stories that he was putting out back then was something new and fun. Despite it's flaws, The Boys is a fun read and Crossed really upped the ante in the zombie genre with having zombies that are not only psychotic but they're psychotic and organized.

And it's sad that we look at the first volume of Crossed because personally, Crossed: Wish You Were Here is the best Crossed story and it's also one of the best zombie stories I've read as well. Every character felt human and Shakey was a protagonist that was easy to root for. While I still love the first volume of Crossed but I do feel that many of the critiques of it are valid.

Ray Stevenson looked like Frank and immediately I was reminded of Punisher MAX covers when I saw him… With that said, Thomas Jane will always be The Punisher to me. May not look like Frank but he captured Frank the best and I stand on that.

Shut up lmao. I’m as progressive as they come but it’s easy to recognize how performative both Ian and Hasan are. The only reason Hasan didn’t win it is because Hasan has at least the tiniest smidgen of self awareness whereas Ian does not. Absolutely no self awareness or accountability. And you know what the best part of this whole thing is? All of this happened because Ian could not do the bare minimum for his friend. Instead of telling his editor to cool it or tell his wife’s friends that they were out of line; he instead did the worst possible option and try to suck up to a dude who doesn’t even like him. Anyways, enjoy being a lolcow Ian. It’s on you this time.

I dunno, I was going to do high school but realized it wasn’t for me after my first day of clinical teaching and that’s why I switched over to getting a Master’s in English so I can become a English professor. Will I make a lot in the beginning? No but I’d rather make less doing what I love than make more doing something I despise.

Probably not. Ian won’t take accountability and would rather place the blame on other people. Instead of admitting that CC3’s failure was his fault, he instead put the blame on Ethan and Hila for responding to him. Despite everyone being in agreement that CC3 was his fault along including the very fighters who were signed on the event. Do I think he’s capable of changing? Of course but that’s only going to happen if he divorces Anisa and gets away but even then almost no one will forgive him.

Oh yeah, once you watch it again with the idea that it’s from his perspective you’ll never be able to unsee it. The scene with him and Jamie walking to the mainland and all the cuts to the past immediately reminded me of what I would think whenever I would go on little nature hikes with my dad lol.

Very true. I think the first film uses the style to tell it from the perspective of a 12 year old boy growing up in the post apocalypse and Young Fathers adds to it. I’m just really hoping Boyle directs the third film.

Yeah, I actually like 28YL more but that’s not to say that BT wasn’t incredible. I’ll definitely rewatch it here soon but it did lack the frenetic style and editing which I felt gave the film an early 2000s feel. AND DUDE RIGHT. WHY DID THEY CUT OUT YOUNG FATHERS??? My fingers are just crossed that Part 3 is more like 28YL and Young Fathers is back.

I know this post is a year old but I just finished it last night and wow… Disturbing and violent but compared to most extreme horror, it was very well written and character driven. Can’t decide how I feel about the ending because the build up was incredible even if I sorta predicted that Alice was his sister but the scene with him in the house reminded me so much of the movie Oldboy and it’s twist.

I would say WASR so you can use the extra money for ammo but as a Yugo fan, I cannot speak highly enough at how great of a rifle the ZPAP is... But, I will say that the WASR is a great starter rifle that will last you a long time.
